American Taliban: Florida Pastor Burns Qur’an After “Trial” By His Church

Florida pastor Terry Jones is back. If you recall, he caused an international sensation in pledging to burn a copy of the Qur’an (Koran) and then backed down in exchange for a new car. Well, Jones has now proceeded in holding a trial of the holy book and proceeded to burn it after his flock found it guilty. Jones serves as the judge for the trial at the Dove World Outreach Center in Gainesville, Fla.

In a demonstration of public insanity, Jones insisted that it was all particularly legal because “[w]e had a court process. We tried to set it up as fair as possible, which you can imagine, of course, is very difficult.” The trial featured a Christian convert as the prosecutor and a Dallas imam as the defense lawyer. If true, what imam would agree to participate in such a hateful and ridiculous display.

The sentence was carried out by soaking the book in kerosene for an hour and then burned. The church chose burning over “drowning.”

The church then took a stand against intolerance and violence by burning a religious book. With the exception of recruiting Taliban in Islamabad, it would be hard to find a jury of their peers.

In the video below, Jones accuses the Quran of such crimes and “rape” and “deception” and challenges the “so called peaceful Muslims” to appear to defend the book.

  1. what courage !….what balls !….allow him to do it again proper…..by force…..OVER THERE !

  2. You wrote “The trial lasted for over 5 hours. There were several expert witnesses called which gave testimony for both the
prosecution and the defense. The trial was respectful, orderly and serious. Once closing arguments ended, the jury
deliberated for 8-10 minutes and returned a verdict finding the Qur’an guilty by unanimous consent on all 3 counts.
    1. Guilty of training and promoting terrorist activity 2. Guilty of encouraging death, rape and torture. 3. Guilty of promoting crimes against women and races.
For those who are interested, excerpts of the trial with English interpretations are currently being broadcast (along with commentary in Arabic) on TruthTV.”
Are you referring to the Qur’an or the Bible?? If you’ve read the old testament, it is packed full of even more of the same hate and crimes found the Qur’an. The proverbial pot calling the kettle black…

  3. This country has freedom of religion and expression. If you don’t like what he did, your free to not watch/coment. Muslims came here of their own free will, if they don’t like the USA as it is, they can go home to their countries. I just hate that this act puts our troops in greater danger. O’ needs to be impeached and all of our troops brought home and ALL foriegn aid to these countries stopped. THEN WE NEED TO GET THE HELL OUT OF THE UN.

  4. I hope Terry bin Laden’s real proud of himself …

Quran-burning blowback: 7 killed in Afghanistan
Demonstrators storm a U.N. office after hearing reports that a Quran was burned by a Florida pastor

By Associated Press An Afghan official says seven people have been killed at a U.N. office in the northern city of Mazar-i-Sharif when a Quran burning protest turned violent.

Demonstrators stormed the U.N. office Friday, opening fire on guards and setting fires inside the compound after reports that a Florida pastor burned a copy of the Muslim holy book.

Gen. Daud Daud, commander of Afghan National Police in several northern provinces, says the dead included five guards working for U.N. and two other people employed at the complex. He says one other person was wounded.

A spokesman for Balkh province, Munir Ahmad Farhad, says several hundred demonstrators were peacefully protesting the purported burning when the gathering suddenly turned violent.

  6. This man is not a Christian.
Christ has taught us in Mathew 5:38-45
    Eye for Eye
“You have heard that it was said, ‘Eye for eye, and tooth for tooth.’ But I tell you, do not resist an evil person. If anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to them the other cheek also. And if anyone wants to sue you and take your shirt, hand over your coat as well. If anyone forces you to go one mile, go with them two miles. Give to the one who asks you, and do not turn away from the one who wants to borrow from you.
    Love for Enemies
43 “You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be children of your Father in heaven.
    This man should repent.
Christ is all about love. We should rather suffer than to hurt others.
I apologies to my Muslim brothers and sisters for what this fanatic has done.
    Blessings on you

  7. I submit that contradiction is not a positive selling point in toilet paper, let alone violence.

    Mythical might be workable though.

I’m thinking “Midas Brand Toilet Paper”.

“Midas! Make your ‘quality time’ as productive as the King!”

  8. culheath,

“a bible makes really terrible toilet paper”

It’s coursely violent, contradictory and mythical toilet paper, no?

I was going to retaliate but my cheap lighter died. I’ll tell you one thing for sure…a bible makes really terrible toilet paper.

  10. Since Islam and Christianity (btw, one can wonder if that is a deliberate combination of the words “Christian” and “insanity” or just serendipity?) both claim ascendency from and fealty to the Judaic “God of Abraham”, perhps we should view this as we would with children acting out their sibling rivalry. Obviously, the level of intellectual development of the likes of Terry Jones and poster Westboro Man has not progressed much beyond schoolyard or grocery store tantrums.
