Shock Video: Police Officer Shown Beating Transsexual

A Memphis police officer is being accused of brutality after the airing of the video below of his beating a handcuffed transsexual prisoner. The Feb. 12th video shows Duanna Johnson handcuffed at the Shelby County Criminal Justice Center after an arrest for prostitution when the attack began.

Striking an handcuffed prisoner is difficult to explain. Johnson insists that it was unprovoked:

“Actually he was trying to get me to come over to where he was, and I responded by telling him that wasn’t my name – that my mother didn’t name me a ‘faggot’ or a ‘he-she,’ so he got upset and approached me. And that’s when it started.”

  1. Russ,

Since when is using inappropriate language grounds for a vicious beating?

  2. russ:

The petulant child routine has gotten old. Take your admonishment and grow up. You’re out of line and the only one whose opinion matters is the host.

  3. as a transexual myself I am always concerned when we are objectified our culture if you can call it that has a long way to go

  4. Pulling a post alluding to it being offensive regarding a particular activity is a tactic commonly used by the left. It is an effecitve form of censureship and labeling at the same time: IE: you don’t agree with what I posted so you delete it and then once it is gone allude that it had offensive language.

My post had no offensive language. I was asking why some would not believe the police officer before the prostitute in an accusation. I indicated the prostitute very well may have used those precise words against the officer instead of the other way around. Seems a reasonable and likely alternative. People lie all the time, don’t they? Just ask Kieth Olbermann.

  5. Offensive language? You mean the word prostitute is now offensive or that I indicated that perhaps the prostitute had initiated the name calling and was in defense of the police?

Hey T: take a look at this post in which one of your fans used the F WORD at badger & you just blew right by it. I didn’t see you scrubbing it from the web site:

Hey JMS; GOOD LORD! and you wonder why the left loses election after election unless they run blue dog democrats so blue democrats cannot even trust them to vote with the democrats in congress!

To make a statement that a human being should be thrown off a cliff for an act against an animal is too far out there.

You don’t know the mindframe of this individual; you don’t know what he was going through, you don’t know how he was raised or by whom. The Marine Corp punished him; let it go.

fuck you badger. he SHOULD have been kicked off a cliff and i’d have done it myself if i were there. human life is only precious if it respects all innocent life. who gives a SHIT what he was going through or how he was raised. if he’s mentally disturbed enough to kill innocent life the world can do without him. he was laughing like it was a big joke anyway.

Mr. Turley: your blog seems to attract more than its share of people that think a point is best made by using the F & S word attacks. Shame.

  6. Russ:
