There were of course many possible explanations for Republican South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford’s affair with an Argentinian beauty. There is of course love, lust, or simply a mid-life crisis. However, it took Rush Limbaugh to isolate the true reason: President Obama. Limbaugh was heard yesterday explaining that Obama’s economic policies pushed poor Sanford into the arms of this mistress.
LIMBAUGH: This Sanford business! I’ll tell you, one of the first thoughts that crossed my mind, with Mark Sanford … this is the first thought: What he did defies logic. This is … more than being 180 degrees out of phase because of lust, or love. To split the scene for five days, and we know he’s been separated, and he knows, by the way, that the newspaper in his state has the emails between him and his concubine down there in Argentina, he knows this. He knows that somebody knows what’s going on. He knows his wife knows. So he ups and leaves for five days, doesn’t leave anybody in charge of the state, in case there’s an emergency.
Here comes the swing . . .
LIMBAUGH: This is almost like: I don’t give a damn! Country’s going to hell in a handbasket. I just want out of here!
LIMBAUGH: He had just tried to fight the stimulus money coming to South Carolina. He didn’t want any part of it. He lost the battle and said “What the hell? The Federal government is taking over! I want to enjoy life!”
Apparently, Republican marriages are undone by macro economic policy and the stimulus money. Indeed, his email about the “tan lines” of his mistress is simply code for runaway deficit funding:
“You have a particular grace and calm that I adore. You have a level of sophistication that so fitting with your beauty. I could digress and say that you have the ability to give magnificent gentle kisses, or that I love your tan lines or that I love the curve of your hips, the erotic beauty of you holding yourself (or two magnificent parts of yourself) in the faded glow of the night’s light – but hey, that would be going into sexual details … “

The problem of over-stimulation under the Obama Administration remains a danger to all Republican governors. Fortunately, Dr. Russ Limbaugh is here to keep their marriages and budgets in line with monogamous free market values
For those interested in picking up an over-stimulated Republican Governor, the usual pick-up lines for economists are usually successful. Here are a few of the most successful at GOP parties and strip joints:
1. Do you work for the Fed, cause your raising my reserves.
2. My fiscal policy is all about contributing to your private sector.
3. You have a boyfriend? That’s ok. The wife and I are into credit-swapping.
4. Are you a Keynesian? Because you sure make my monetary policy inflate.
5. Pareto dominate me, baby!

Well, Lee, at least you’ve proven that you are the very definition of the anatomical slur you’ve accused FFLEO of being with your response. Lighten up. People without a sense of humor in general suck, but people without a sense of humor about themselves really suck. They usually end up being either terrorists, televangelists, politicians or just plain miserable to be around. BTW, I fully expect that your message this is in response to will soon be deleted for, well, quite simply being a vulgar childish and unnecessary hissy fit thrown at a long time and valued contributor. Enjoy your visit.
Hey Former Federal Leo:
Blow it out your a**, uh please. Did I spell that right? My mentioning of the typos wasn’t unfriendly to the Prof. (as you were to me) and it wasn’t referring to witticisms. Everyone makes mistakes. I wasn’t trying to be a dick, but you were. You accomplished that goal well. What a mensch you must be!
Mike S.,

IS,
I think I had a blast but with all the sex, drugs and rock n’roll, my memory isn’t that good. Also for me it had the deaths of my parents, JFK, RFK and MLK, and a terrible, purposeless war pursued by people who thought they understood realpolitik. Sort of like America today before President Obama, without the sex, drugs and rock n’roll.
Next Gov Sanford will say, in George Bush style, that gawd gave him his permission by whisperin’ into his ear to cheat on his wife at taxpayer expense…somethin’ about “Give Unto Caesar What is Caesar’s and Unto God What is God’s”

“I think he’s gone, it’s over,” said one of them, Harvey S. Peeler Jr., majority leader of the State Senate. “Leaving aside his personal life, when you use taxpayer dollars, that’s what Republicans are all about — spending tax dollars wisely. This was not spending tax dollars wisely.”

Gyges:
It is humor non the less. At least right wing humor. I also appreciate left wing humor.
I used to listen to Randi Rhodes and Al Franken and Janine Garofolo on Air America and it used to grate on my nerves. I have a feeling Rush and Sean and Savage do that to libs. There seems to be a very large schism between left and right at this time in history. It probably is beyond raproachmont. the fundamentalists on each side hold rabid ideals and the rank and file follow.
Honestly I think Rush is pretty funny and does have some good insights, I think Sean Hannity is a light weight and well Savage is on his own planet. His books were pretty unscholary for a guy with a PhD or he has contempt for his audience.
I like Mark Levin, although I wish he would cool it with the “sit down shut-up”.
On the left I like David Gregory and George Stephonopolis and the black guy from the Chicago Sun times and Juan Williams I also like Carville and Begalla. I dont care much for Olberman.
Personally most of the people on this site seem to trend toward libertarian although Mike Spindell and Mike Appleton appear to be very intelligent hippie freak retreads from the 60’s, “make not war but love, baby”.
No offense to either Mr. Appleton or Mr. Spindell. I have always been tought to respect my elders. (I assume you both are over 35?). I have read about the 60’s, man it must have been a riot.
Vince and Jill, I had never heard of the group, the house or the Sharlet book. Thanks for the information. I assume the book is still in print.
Vince,
You can also be Jewish and be a Family member (oddly enough). You will find most of our ruling elite in this book. It is not a conspiracy book, it is very well documented. The Family is creepy, it is a cult and it doesn’t know party or even national boundaries. Their bond is power, wealth, and at least they say, Jesus (although it is Jesus as warrior for the apocolypse that they worship). It deserves a very open, extensive investigation.
“he forgives much and he is forgiven!!!”
21,
You’ve gotten to law school so you have spent years in the educational system. Have you noticed through the years that the worst, most boring, teachers are those who take off points for spelling, even when the course is not an English/Writing course? In my brief foray with law school ’69/’71 I had Mario Cuomo for Criminal Procedure, he could care less about spelling and of course had us enthralled with his lectures. I imagine your experience with Professor Turley is the same.
According to wiki, the Family is a movement QUOTE incorporated in the United States as a tax-free 501(c)(3) organization operating under the name The Fellowship Foundation. While they conduct no fundraising operations, they reported revenues of more than $12 million in 2003 from donations. …
Their primary activity is to develop small support groups for members of Congress, businesspersons, and anyone else who is interested in the teachings of Jesus. Prayer groups have met in the Pentagon and at the Department of Defense. They have connections to the CIA. [5]
The movement maintains a three-story, 7,914-square-foot (735.2 m2) red brick townhouse at 133 C Street in Washington, D.C., near the United States Capitol. The townhouse used to be a convent. As many as six members of Congress, Democratic and Republican, live here while in Washington. In 2003, these men paid $600 a month to live there: U.S. Reps. Zach Wamp, R-Tenn.; Bart Stupak, D-Mich.; Jim DeMint, R-S.C.; and Mike Doyle, D-Pa.; and U.S. Sens. John Ensign, R-Nev.; and Sam Brownback, R-Kan. The house, which was valued at $1.1 million in 2003, is owned by a Fellowship sister group called the C Street Center. IRS records show that the Center received more than $145,000 in grants from the Fellowship between 1997 and 2000. UNQUOTE
Jill, not only is the House tax-exempt, the entire Family seems to be exempt under 501-c-3.
IS, we already did know that because Olbermann always refers to him as “Commedian Rush Limbaugh.”
Lee, sorry, did not mean to sound so harsh. I like some of the typos. Copyright came out as “cowpyright,” which I thought was some sort of intellectual property in cow pies.
Vince,
I wondered if it was that house. Jeff’s book is interesting and I believe it sheds light on a great deal of the political process we see unfolding at this time.
IS,
Comedy 101: in order for a joke to be funny it has to make sense in relation to the outside world.
Thus me saying (before Rush actually said anything) “You know, Rush Limbaugh is probably going to blame this republican cheating on his wife on the Obama administration” is comical, because there is truth to it, Limbaugh often finds the flimsiest excuses to blame unrelated events on Democratic policies. Rush saying “This republican cheating on his wife is because of the Obama administration” is not funny, because it makes absolutely no sense, and is really a thinly disguised excuse to talk about how bad the Obama administration’s fiscal policy is.
Leo, great, great gotcha!
Lee, new mantra: Pot kettle black, houses glass stones.
The house at 133 C St SE is occupied by members of the “Family.’ Empty Wheel has broken this story and posted many comments and links at her site:

Prof. Turley,
“I think this is a marvelous and informative sight, but I have one suggestion for improving it. Spelling.”
________________________________
Well Lee, I suggest you return to kindergarten to learn the difference between *sight* and site.
We humans are all hypocrites, but only the good ones try to contain their hypocrisies. We all make typos—your use of a wrong word was worse than most. The important aspect is for Professor Turley to get the topics posted so that we can comment on them. The Prof. does the work of at least 3 highly accomplished scholars, in addition to his lawyerly duties and as a family man with 4 children.
Finally, if you would think a bit while you read, Professor Turley often intentionally misspells words as witticisms.
Hypocritically Yours…
Vince,
All I can say is wow. That is the very definition of arrogance. It shows the true depth of disregard these not-so-closeted theocrats have for our Constitution and the principles therein. They continue to show this in the legislative agendas they pursue, the dogmatic hateful war and poverty promoting drivel they spread and in how they manage their personal affairs. These men are bad for the system and need to be removed from participation. They’ve demonstrated time and again they are hypocrites who want to force their “values” down others throats by corrupting the system toward their “Holy work” but treat their own adherence to said “values” with a wink and nod. It should be the duty of every American no matter party affiliation to not only remove people like this from office, but work to ensure they never get elected in the first place. Garbage in, garbage out. But to get a clean running system, you’ve got to clear out the garbage stagnating in the machine while you correct the quality of your inputs. Start by making sure every member of the C St. group gets ousted from office through either recall or scheduled electoral processes.
You educated liberals are too unkind to a small-minded conservative who flunked out of college and failed at everything he has tried, except for radio gossip/hate spew, which like-minded degenerates eat up like a bumblebee suckles a worthless, weedy bull thistle blossom.
Rush, using his brand of *logic*, simply heard that the economic times were *hard* and then drew the illogical parallel to Gov. Sanford’s fraudulent sexual escapade.
The govnugh must resign because he committed fraud on the taxpayers and spent their dollars for sexual dalliances on govmit’ time while he was playin’ hooky for nookie…
yes I do think he has some inciteful commentary but then I think Olberman and Matthews do to.
yes I do think Russ is funny.
