A billboard in Colorado is causing considerable controversy and gives an insight into the radical fringe of America. The billboard by car dealership owner Phil West in Wheat Ridge, Colorado combines the “birther” controversy with the suggestion that Obama is both a Muslim and a terrorist. It further makes the bizarre connection to Fort Hood — suggesting that Obama could at any time go on a shooting spree in the West Wing.
The billboard shown above included a cartoon of Obama wearing a Muslim turban and reads “PRESIDENT or JIHAD?” It also says “WAKE UP AMERICA! REMEMBER FT. HOOD!”
West sees nothing wrong in such a message. He insisted in one interview “You can’t suggest things. You can’t profile. You gotta call a spade a spade.”
He further adds (while dancing on the edge of sanity) “[e]verything I have read about Mr. Obama points right to the fact that he is a Muslim. And that is the agenda of what Muslim is all about. It’s about anti-American, it’s about anti-Christianity.” People buy cars from this man.
My favorite quote, however, comes from passing motorist Keith Walters: “I can’t honestly say he’s a Jihadist, but there’s a lot of things that are questionable. The whole birth certificate controversy. From what I’ve read, there’s no proof Obama isn’t a Muslim. And I don’t believe there’s any racism [in the billboard]. I think that should be a question asked to any president who — they have some questionable backgrounds.”
I love the use of “proving the negative.” The sign is legitimate because “there’s no proof Obama isn’t a Muslim.” There’s no proof that he is not the Anti-Christ or the Second Coming either.
By the way, Obama makes a terrible Muslim. He smokes, drinks, attends Church, fails to observe any Islamic holidays, raises his children as Christians, and eats pork. Pat Robertson would make a better Muslim.
It is moments like this that one wonders how we succeeded in forming a nation of self-government, let alone acquired nuclear weapons.

Smearing political opponents with false accusations of racism has long been a left-wing staple. The leftist base of the Democratic party simply assumes that conservatives are racists. Any Republican tactic or statement that could possibly be interpreted as racist — no matter how implausibly — is pounced upon and condemned as racism. We saw this during the last election, when every anti-Obama GOP ad was scrutinized, and hidden “racist” elements were pointed out by race-obsessed leftists — even though the supposed racism was invisible to normal, rational people. Today, master of shallow thinking Matt Yglesias has an article in the Daily Beast called, of all things, “Here Come the Racists.”
If you read through Yglesias’ article expecting to find actual examples of racism on the right you’ll be disappointed — well, unless you are a leftist, since you know that conservative criticism of Obama is race-based. Here’s one of Yglesias’ hysterical overstatements,

In Yglesias world, criticizing Obama for how he handles racial topics is itself inherently racist. Isn’t that convenient? Here’s an example of one of these supposed “race-based attacks,” most of which exist only in Yglesias’ imagination.
Brit Hume whined on air that “to be labeled a racist” in today’s America is very bad
Obviously Hume meant being falsely labeled, but Yglesias, with typical intellectual dishonesty, pretends that Hume is against “the existence of social opprobrium against racists.” When you have to reach that far to find “race-based attacks,” you know your case is pretty weak.
Basically anyone that brings up reverse racism, or otherwise doesn’t toe the left-wing line on race, or of course dares to criticize Obama in anyway related to race, must be a racist. That’s the entire substance of Yglesias’ “thinking.” Unlike what he apparently assumes, accusing the president of being a “racial opportunist,” or even labeling Judge Sotomeyer a racist, are not necessarily racist attacks — any more than are incorrect or false accusations of racism by people like Yglesias. When Yglesias falsely accuses people on the right of racism, it isn’t necessarily because he’s a racist himself. It could just be that he’s wrong, being intellectually dishonest, stupid, or otherwise clueless and incapable of determining what constitutes racism.

One of the marks of a bigot is the inability to take responsibility for him(her)self. This is Jim Byrnes problem also. He is a bigot who does not want to see a black man as President, yet will never admit it. This isn’t about wounds because ignorant fools words do not wound me. They only fill me with contempt. Jimmy, in his new incarnation, says he wasn’t interested in what was happening in 2000/4 because his guy won. Telling admission isn’t it. It kind of proves that this is all about the winning and nothing about principle. Yet the birther movement claims principle as their motivating force. This is known as lying and hypocrisy.
Bdaman, has claimed to have come from a “mixed marriage” to insulate him from the charge of prejudice, yet “mixed marriage” can have many connotations, most of them not indicative of one of the parents being black. More lies and hypocrisy? I say consider the source. Then we come to the fact that both Byrne and Bdaman seem to work in tandem. Back many threads ago they alluded to a relationship outside of the web. Possibly brothers-in-law. Whether true or not they are “brothers” in deception, lies and racism.
The initial article to this thread actually highlights their M.O.’s.
They were in the other threads highly supportive of Orly Taitz and when she fell on her face, rather than admitting her failure, or even supporting her they were nowhere to be found. The news cycle has moved on and so once again they set up shop with the same old tired arguments and lies. They are used, in their circles of ignorance, to dealing with people with short memories and high ignorance factors. Jimmy B himself can’t remember 2000, except to note his guy won. Coming here where most of us are not handicapped in such a way, makes their feeble arguments and malicious lies all too apparent.
Finally, let me explain why I call them traitors and Anti-American since I realize those are serious charges. When an American treats politics as if he/she is rooting for his/her favorite sports team, caring only that her/his guy won in 2000 for instance, then that person is failing in their duty as a citizen as defined by our Constitution. Politics is the business of governing ourselves and as such should (though admittedly seldom is)be infused with the principle of what is best for the citizenry and the country. These two and their ilk are interested only in their team winning. To me that is traitorous. The Anti-American part is that for society to function with cohesion we must all abide by those rules and rituals that give us cohesion. In this case when somebody is elected to the Presidency legally (and Obama was)then they are owed respect for the position. The birther movement, the teabaggers and the two we have here have not accepted that aspect of the American Social Contract and therefore are Anti-American in their behavior.

I’m sure he would. Just to let you know–both he and I cook without exact recipes.
Just a preliminary: He slices, salts, drains the eggplant. Then he oils a pan and broils the slices before making the lasgana. He doesn’t put any breadcrumb or flour coating on the eggplant. He uses the kind of lasagna noodles that are thin and don’t have to be boiled first. He uses fresh mozzarella and grated Romano–and his homemade sauce, which is thin and light.(He makes it with olive oil, garlic, canned San Marzano tomatoes–and sometimes fresh basil.) He uses lots of sauce so the noodles will soften when they’re baked. His lasagna isn’t heavy at all.
