Minnesota GOP Senate Candidate Calls President Obama a “Power Hungry Arrogant Black Man”

Mike Parry, a GOP candidate for the state senate, has apologized for tweets calling President Obama a “Power Hungry Arrogant Black Man” and asking “whats with the Dems and Pedophiles?”

The tweets succeeded in making Parry look like a power hungry ignorant white man. He insists that he takes full responsibility for “all mistakes in my past tweets.”

Parry insists that the racist reference was “written in haste and out of the frustration I felt for the out of control spending in Washington.” In one interview, he insisted that he should be credited for at least using his own name in such attacks, here. He also stated:

“My opinion is that our president is arrogant and angry. The fact is that he is a black man. Now if the Democratic Party and the liberals want to take my opinion and the fact and mix it together and use it to bring a bad light about me and keep them away from discussing the real issues they can do that all they want. They’re grasping for straws.”

Well, I am not sure how much mixing it takes, Mr. Parry.

Here is Parry’s website and bio.

  1. Black Hockey Players, the most famous is Grant Fuhr, goalie for the Stanley Cup Champion Edmonton Oilers in the 1980’s. Fuhr was one of the best until he got suspended in 1990 for drug abuse. He came back and played for three other teams before retiring after the 1999-2000 season.

your idea falls flat, the worlds strongest men for the last 20 years have all been white from either northern countries or northern states. And a guy from Poland won a bunch of times. So much for Polish jokes.

Abdullah, after you detonate the bomb, if you are captured, the first thing the Americans will do is tell you that you can remain silent. Then, because you have no money they will give you a lawyer, probaly someone from our brother Holders office. He has represented us since the beginning. Then the American judges who follow the law of the land will help you.

Tell us about that extra bone in the foot so that you can run faster. Admit or not?

Geeze, and I thought you were bright. Admit or not?

Are you really a Billy Goat? Admit or not?

  7. Social Darwinism is neither social nor darwinism. It’s a rationale for being elitist and bigoted.

  8. He did but he was only telling the truth. Just like Parry

No you didn’t AY, never in a million years would you admit that.

  9. Bryon,

Guess you and I were on the same page. Do you per chance work in the House? lol

  11. In my mind race has nothing to do with much of anything except a few million years ago natural selection favored people with higher melanin content on the plains of Africa.

You only think that because of what you’ve seen in recent times. During the slave years thru natural selection, slave owners naturally selected slaves to breed so they could become better and stronger workers. What they did was create a race with stronger physical attributes. Look at professional sports here in the U.S. Not alot of white guys on the team anymore.

as a conservative I think politically correct is used to keep conservative opinions out of the public discourse. And that liberals use it as a club to limit free speech. It is used on college campuses to stifle conservative students and god forbid a conservative speaks his/her mind in the press. He/she usually end up having to resign from a public office.

Personally I think Obama is power hungry, his race has nothing to do with it and Parry could have left it at that. In my mind race has nothing to do with much of anything except a few million years ago natural selection favored people with higher melanin content on the plains of Africa.

People who use race as some sort of gauge are basically ignorant tools.

  13. Thats Ok Mav, we are pissed because we are described as Negro in the Census. They might as well just of used the other N word.

  14. maverratick,

Re-read my comment. I wasn’t attacking you, your meaning was clear and valid. I was making a comment about the term “politically correct.” I’m sorry I was unclear, I meant no offense, but my execution should have been better.

  15. WTF? OK I shouldn’t have said “politically correct”, or I should have put curly quotes around it, because I think you think I think differently than I actually think.

I was actually defending “political correctness” as having originated from people reacting to offending speech, so that most publicly acceptable speech ends up conforming to a standard that got derided by conservatives as “politically correct”. But that’s the shortest term for describing this phenomenon that I could think of, at the one place where I used it. (Maybe “tolerant speech”? But no one will understand what that means.)

This GOP Senate guy’s statement offended me, but then I started trying to carefully think through and articulate exactly what it is that’s offensive when a white guy says things about a “power hungry black man”. (For the benefit of these idiots coming on here saying “god forbid we mention he’s black.”) And I tried to think of things that are offensive when African American people say them. (BTW I hate “African American” because it’s a bitch to type, and it’s mostly been adopted as a way to circumvent white people from making offending statements about black people that use the word “black”. Every time I type it, it reminds me of how screwed up race relations are. “Black” is so much more convenient esp. in regards to “white” people, but it’s abused by whites, and you know “African-American” is going to wear out too the same way “black” did for the same reason.)

Of course, the meaning of “politically correct” got quickly expanded by conservatives to mean whatever they want, e.g. believing scientists about climate change, helping people buy insurance, etc. So ironically “politically correct” is not “politically correct”. They always think it’s sad they can’t call everything “politically correct” when you read their boards, since they really just want to use it as a club to beat down speech that’s not politically correct on their board.

  16. Maverratick,
The term “politically correct” is what is known as a meme, or unit of propaganda. It was developed by conservatives within the last 3 decades to diminish and denigrate any progressive thinking in any direction. Using it allows the user to diminish the importance of any social protest, or exposure of a social wrong. People who use it in argument are generally unable to, or too dishonest to, make the real case they are implying. It is a lazy shortcut and drips with being dishonest. The user may have valid arguments to make, but use of the term belies any valuable content the statements may have.
