Mammals Join Together During the Snowpocalypse

At times like this, mammals must stick together. Now, if only I can get the wildlife to shovel the two feet of snow on my driveway.

It is still snowing in McLean and I just went out and measured just short of the two-foot mark. I have no choice but to return to the house and continue my campaign to overcome my boys in their dominance of the Wii.

  1. The Tiger
    (With apologies to William Blake)

    Tiger! Tiger! Hug me tight
Near the forest in the light.
    I’m farsighted. I can’t see
    Your frame and fearful symmetry.

In our embrace we mammals touch.
You grasp me in your big cat clutch.
Don’t stab me with your claws of steel.
Don’t want to be your midday meal.

  2. Hats off to ya, bdaman. You can read, write and even think. Its a shame the partisan crap is wasted on you.

  3. you knewed whay did you knewed. That sounds like the spanglish some one would use from Tex, ass.

  4. “When you come out and play why does bdaman go away?”

I’ll play your silly game. Why? 🙂

  5. Are you talking about them gay hot lines? This is not proper for this thread. homophones.

  6. “Putting poetry to music is about the only kind of poetry that can pay the bills I’m afraid.”

    Long live the homophones!

  7. Vince,

Just tell “Teach” that you have an eye problem.

You can’t see coming in today.

  8. Vince,

But the dog found it amongst the Cat-n-Crunch. So it now been digested well.

  9. Professor,

I won’t be able to make it to class today because of the snow.

Also, the dog ate the homework and the cat buried it after internal processing.

Also, my great-great-grandmother died yesterday and I have to attend the funeral in Ireland.

Damn, this teacher never accepts reasonable excuses.

  10. Putting poetry to music is about the only kind of poetry that can pay the bills I’m afraid.

  11. Interesting tidbit. Jimmy Buffett was a local bar singer until a guy that was up and coming in Plano,Texas saw him while in Florida. He staged his first big concert in North Texas and still says that it is where he got his start to where he is today.

He will still play that same venue which to my understanding holds about 200 people.

Yes, you are correct he is a poet. One that can provoke emotions in just words. Now rap just does not do it for me.

  12. The song from what I understand is actually a combination of two poets. The song was inspired by the poets Kenneth Patchen and Richard Farina, two GREAT poets, who according to Jimmy, “starved their asses off and didn’t get to stick around to reap their rewards.”

Thus the history of a salient master of my time. Jimmy Buffett. But then again, Jim Morrison was a brilliant poet as well.

  13. mespo,

One of my all time favorites. Jimmy Buffett.

  14. Ok JT, your constant lamentations about a little chilly rain on the “mean streets” of McLean, has finally warmed my heart. Here’s a video postcard to heat up your day:
