The No-Press Presser: California Candidate for Governor Throws Press Out of Press Conference When They Try To Ask Questions

Meg Whitman, Republican candidate for governor in California, had a curious way of calling a press event. Whitman invited the press and was then shocked to learn that they actually wanted to ask questions. It then went from bad to worse.

This appears to be a trend started by Palin: the no-press press event. The cameras are welcomed of course, it is those pesky journalists that spoil the whole thing.

Whitman is a billionaire who served as President and Chief Executive Officer of eBay from March 1998 to March 2008. I have a feeling Whitman campaign buttons on Ebay just took a nosedive.

  1. Bdaman:

they can pry my fishing rod from my cold dead hands 🙂 Sheeit it isnt about guns or fishing rods, it is about freedom and individual rights.

  2. But it isn’t about money it is about power over people.

The less commercial fisherman fish, the less gas is burned. The less gas is burned, the less co2 is emitted. The less co2 that is emitted the less global warming.

  3. Don’t they set limits on both commercial and recreational fishing anyway?

Yea the new limit is 0 snapper and 0 grouper.

  4. Fishing is as American as apple pie, so I would say banning recreational fishing is Un-American.

Don’t they set limits on both commercial and recreational fishing anyway? Maybe the commercial fishing quotas need to be reduced or maybe we need more aqua-culture. Why not give incentives to invest in aqua-culture like tax breaks and equipment depreciation incentives.

Most of the states are running out of money and they will raise tax rates and there will be less money and they will raise them again and even less money will come in. Cut the tax rates to 5% across the board and there will be so much money it will swamp the government coffers. But it isn’t about money it is about power over people.

  5. Yes Tuna fishing is year round. 🙂 One year I had 4 yellow tails at 70+. Nothing like fresh tuna and wasabi on the boat.

  6. Bdaman:

I dont know if I could handle that, I saw those links you posted. I probably wouldnt sleep for a week 🙂

  7. He is kinda shocked because of the effect of the new fishing ban that has gone into place of the U.S. eastcoast.

He said all charters are typically booked up for the entire week with most shipping their catch back to the states.

  8. Hey Byron, spoke to my buddy Craig yesterday. When ever your ready for a trip let me know. Maybe we can work out a deal and I will be your guide.

  9. If Massa had been willing to vote for the health care bill he would still be in office.

  10. She and the Dems have nothing to hide.

They said the same thing about torture. Judicial Watch found out different.

  11. Correction:

WASHINGTON (AP) – House Democrats have stopped a Republican bid to force an investigation into whether Democratic leaders covered up allegations that former Rep. Eric Massa sexually harassed male employees.

House Republican Leader John Boehner (BAY’-nur) attempted to order the House ethics committee to investigate and report to the House by June 30. Instead, the House voted 402-1 to allow the panel to determine the next step—a move that could kill any further investigation.

Perhaps you missed the part about Speaker Pelosi endorsing the probe, other than the obvious political grandstanding of the perpetually hypocritical GOP. She and the Dems have nothing to hide. Massa was referred to the Ethics Committee in less than 48 hours of Steny Hoyer becoming aware of the initial complaint. This was NOT handled the way Boner, Hastert, etal hid, stone-walled and ignored the issues surrounding the guy from Florida for six months.

  13. I saw her interviewed years ago about E-bay’s success, I walked away from the TV thinking now I now what would happen if Opie and Aunt Bea started a company. It follows that she wouldn’t want any press asking questions. She is an accidental billionaire and it will quickly be apparent that the empress to be has no clothes nor much sense.

  14. Nancy what do you say?

Nancy says I’m in deep doo doo.

The House of Representatives has approved an ethics investigation of Nancy Pelosi.

Yesterday, by a vote of 402 to one, the U.S. House approved a resolution calling for the House Ethics Committee to investigate House Democratic leaders and their handling of ethical allegations concerning former Rep. Eric Massa (D., N.Y.).

  15. Now its Posted that the lady refused the press, just say NO does not apply to Political Rally’s or does it? Nancy what do you say?

  16. “You’d like to think the candidate running for office is the one in charge.” What a shot at a potential leader! I’d vote for that anchor.
