Report: Fifty Percent of Households Pay No Federal Income Taxes

A recent report shows that 47 percent of U.S. households pay no federal income taxes. The Tax Policy Center found that the percent of non-paying households had risen from 38 percent in 2007 to 47 percent this year.

Another interesting factoid is that households making more than $366,400 paid about 73 percent of the income taxes collected by the federal government.

This is not the image often presented in Washington when legislators complain about tax fairness for the middle class. White House adviser Paul Volcker appeared to call for higher taxes yesterday to deal with the rising deficit and Obama officials have been suggesting that the wealthy should face higher taxes to establish tax equity.

  1. You don’t know who Goneville really is. It’s Waynes new nom de plume.

People, pay no attention to these morons here. Watch the videos with the experts.
    ***********************************************

I’ll not argue that I am not a moron. I can be rather thick at times. Which is why I’m having trouble understanding why you’re having trouble understanding the US Constitution on the subject.

I mean it doesn’t take a Constitutional law scholar to explain it.

It just comes right out and says, Congress has the power to levy INCOME TAX.

    **************************
The Congress shall have power to lay and collect TAXES ON INCOMES
    *************************

That’s what our Constitution states. How much plainer can it be?

Without directing us to watch the video, can you simply explain which part of that you are challenging and on what grounds?

There’s the Constitutional basis. And Congress used that to write Title 26 of the US Code (The federal Law).

So which part of that are you contesting and on what grounds?

  3. Sorry, but Snipes, Schiffty, and Smiley are the buffoons.

Goneville is a welcome voice of reason around here.

  4. There goes Schiffty!

    Feb. 25, 2006

“Irwin Schiff, the author of a series of books of absurd tax theory and convicted leader of a tax evasion conspiracy, received a 13-year sentence on tax crimes yesterday. This looks like the end of Mr. Schiff’s long dismal career in the tax protest business, as he will be over 90 years old before his sentence runs out.

“He was also ordered to cough up $4.2 million in restitution.

    “The Associated Press reports:

Schiff remained defiant on Friday, declaring: ‘There is no law that required me to pay the tax.’

“Unfortunately for Mr. Schiff, that’s not the opinion of the judge, the jury, the federal marshals, and the Bureau of Prisons, so his opinion seems unlikely to prevail at this point.

“His attorney tried to get him out on an insanity defense. It’s too late for Mr. Schiff, but it’s at least an arguable defense for anybody who still believes Mr. Schiff’s theories.”

BVM better start boning up on the insanity defense right now. He, she or it has a head start.

Note that BVM never seems to say that he, she or it refuses to pay taxes. He, she or it simply gives totally bogus advice to others, and solicits money for the website in return.

    Despicable.

Per wiki, “Schiff is serving a 13-plus year sentence for tax crimes (with his location listed as the Terre Haute Federal Correctional Institution). His projected release date is 7 October 2016.”

    See you then, Schiffty.

Good luck on the fundraising for the new bathrobe, BVM.

  5. You two are perfect for each other.

Goneville and BVM sittin in a blog
comment and comment and both are frogs
First comes a theory then comes a loon
Both act together like big Buffoons

  6. There is a technical legal term for those gullible people who follow BVM’s advice and refuse to pay their income taxes.

    Convicted prisoner.

  7. “Trolls read the Constitution, Otto. They just don’t understand it.”

I will not argue with your stupidity.
    ***********************************

    Then argue with your own.

You asked for the law, and I printed it for you.

Both the Constitutional authorization and the actual Federal Law.

Which one are you having difficulties reading?

  9. BuenaVistaMall 1, April 10, 2010 at 1:13 pm

The key is get the jury to see that the IRS cannot produce a law that requires a person to file or pay taxes on wages. Many people have beaten the IRS with this key and do not pay taxes.

Fool, watch the video and do the research but you probably can’t comprehend phony intellectual.
    ***************************************************

Uhh, yes the IRS can and does produce the law. Its called the CONSTITUTION OF THE UNITED STATES.

And the actual Law is Title 26 of the US Code, which I just printed for you.

Do you have a reading comprehension problem? Is that why you need videos?

  10. BuenaVistaMall 1, April 10, 2010 at 1:07 pm

IRS Fraud: There Is No Law That Requires You To File A 1040!

    ******************************************

I’m the fool? You’re the one claiming you don’t have to file. Sure you do. It says so right in the US Constitution. Here, I’ll print it again.

    ************************************
THE 16th AMENDMENT TO THE CONSTITUTION OF THE UNITED STATES:

The Congress shall have power to lay and collect TAXES ON INCOMES, from whatever source derived, without apportionment among the several States, and without regard to any census or enumeration.
    ************************************

So I don’t need to “watch the video” of some radical anti government nut to know that the US Constitution grants the US Govt the right to levy INCOME TAXES.

    Because I can read.

  11. The key is get the jury to see that the IRS cannot produce a law that requires a person to file or pay taxes on wages. Many people have beaten the IRS with this key and do not pay taxes.

Fool, watch the video and do the research but you probably can’t comprehend phony intellectual.

  12. What’s amazing is you anti government types usually declare if its not in the Constitution then its not real. That’s a lame argument but in this case that argument actually decimates your own position.

The 16th Amendment to the Constitution declares Congress has the right to levy INCOME tax. So the Federal Govt’s right to collect them is established in the US Constitution.

    End of Tin Foil Story.

My only question would be, how could you not know this?

  13. BuenaVistaMall 1, April 10, 2010 at 11:49 am

Where is the law to file or pay federal income taxes on wages?
    ***********************************

    Wow, even I know this.

First, the 16th Amendment gives Congress the power to establish taxes.

    ******************************
The Congress shall have power to lay and collect taxes on incomes, from whatever source derived, without apportionment among the several States, and without regard to any census or enumeration.
    ******************************

Then the actual Federal Law is found in Title 26 of the US Code.

    **********************************************
    26 U.S.C. § 1
There is hereby imposed on the taxable income of every individual who is not a married individual a tax determined in accordance with the following table:.

    ***********************************************
And don’t get exited. It says the same thing for married people too further down.

Thus your tin foil hat theory is dispelled.
