This is very cool. Researchers at the Cedars-Sinai Heart Institute have succeeded in inserting micro-sized particles of iron into stem cells and then using a magnet to direct the stem cells into a heart in a possible treatment for heart attacks.
The study is published today online by Circulation Research, a scientific journal of the American Heart Association.
The iron-laden cells were injected into rats with a heart attack and then the doctors used a toy magnet placed externally above the heart to guide the cells to the heart.

“The only “reversal of progress” is that promoted by the fraudulent “science” of the left. The global warming hoax is just one example of how leftist “science” is ideologically driven in spite of the evidence.”
Tootie,
Your epitath might be “Ignorant, Smug and Proud To The End.” That you think of science as a continuation of the left/right paradigm is proof positive that you lack any real knowledge of what you speak. The “left” for you is a bogeyman and a substitute for your dim notions of evil. To a person like you the stricture “Thou Shalt Not Kill” is mediated by the justification of any murder of which your particular
“religious” leaders, or political beliefs may condone. This could be a Doctor who does what law and conscience allows, a country where hundreds of thousands of people were sacrificed on the altar of your Party’s ego and greed, or perhaps a born child doomed to a lfetime of ineligibilty for medical care because hypocrites like you only believe in protecting the
“unborn.”
I don’t know what particular religious beliefs you follow, nor what “religious” leaders inform you but the pathetic thing about you is that you have not the slightest idea of what piety really means.
“It was the Christian right, in particular, that supported the more viable, more effective, and supremely scientifically sound stem cell research.”
I actually checked out the two links you provided and they only prove my point regarding your ignorance of belief. In the first a researcher, South Korean in origin, was caught doctoring studies. This of course to you was a “lefty” doing what “lefty’s do” and so you falsely lay the blame on the doorstep of the left. When Pfizer kills many with drugs like Celebrex because the Bush FDA allowed it and ignored negative evidence, hypocrites like you look the other way. Why? Because to you, mingled in your pseudo worship is a worship of wealth and power. That’s why your groups are so easy to manipulate and so lacking in anything resembling real religious belief.
Pfizer of course was a large contributor to right wing politicians, but to someone with your ignorance that was Gods work.
THe second link regarding the reuse of one’s own stem cells to repair the heart is a study near a dear to mine for obvious reasons. While there are hopeful clinical trials being run, the technique has not been proven viable or accepted as a treatment. Had it been I’d been on a provider’s doorstep. This research had nothing to do with the Bush stem cell ban, it is merely an exploration of medical options. So is the use of embryonic stem cell research.
“What was stopped was federal funding of it. Nevertheless, some states still fund it. And any private company could fund it and do the research. Few do because it’s so freaking stupid (only a leftist would want to continue wasting money on it).”
What goes unmentioned, though in your case probably unknown, is that most research funding world wide comes through government. The drug companies then take the results of promising studies and expand upon them, patenting whatever
data they can mine. Pfizer, by 1981 had run out of ideas in it’s research team and so bought another company that had done the research. Drug companies spend considerably more money on marketing than they do on research. For a hypocrite like you that is fine because you are the type to prostrate yourself before the Altar of Corporations, or any particular totalitarian leader who’ll pretend to follow the false religious theories you espouse.
As you well know, or should know, embryonic stem cell research uses stems cells that haven’t become available via abortion, but through other means and would be discarded if not used. You anti-abortion types, who false proclaim your belief in
“Right to Life” are in fact worshippers of death and Mammon.
However, you have become so sadly confused by your scriptures and by following false leaders that you don’t know the difference. You are no different in your actions and belief then the radical Muslims you decry. Different scriptures, but the same ignorance and hypocrisy.
My Morning Jacket “It beats for you”
Who could see and not believe
The heart that beats the wavelength
And who could say but never do
Things they’ve said to someone who
Through all that’s been and all will be
So in line so thoughtfully
In tune with you, so in time for me
new thoughts arrive, so in time for me
Who can count the time I’m beatin…with my hands
Who can stop the smoke from breathin…in my head
Words will come and words will go
Make believe and Overthrow
Just believe and you can do
You know my heart it beats for you
So in time we beat..your thoughts align…
so in time with me
Tootie:
The last sentence should [actually]read:
It was the Christian right, in particular, that supported the return to the Dark Ages when those of its ilk held sway and whereby no light of science would be permitted to be shown on its dogmatic, self-interested prescriptions for salvation lest they scurry like cock roaches, and which coincidentally insured its power and dominion over those much smarter than themselves.
The last sentence should read:
It was the Christian right, in particular, that supported the more viable, more effective, and supremely scientifically sound ADULT stem cell research.
Mike Spindell:
The only “reversal of progress” is that promoted by the fraudulent “science” of the left. The global warming hoax is just one example of how leftist “science” is ideologically driven in spite of the evidence . Oh wait, it’s now called “climate change” (a thing that has existed since the planet has).
And that brings us to this particular leftist “scientific” fraud: embryonic stem cell research. It’s real name should be: The Dangerous Scientific Quackery Needed To Give Disgusting Leftist Women A Reason To Appear Morally Justified for Getting An Abortion.
No one hindered embryonic stem cell research in America in the way you seem to imply. What was stopped was federal funding of it. Nevertheless, some states still fund it. And any private company could fund it and do the research. Few do because it’s so freaking stupid (only a leftist would want to continue wasting money on it).
As it turns out the whining about stopping the funding of embryonic stem cell research is like whining and sniveling about the evidence that the earth is not the center of the universe long after it was proven that it wasn’t.
It’s time to move on.
Please note that the article linked to doesn’t even discuss that the advancement in treating heart disease is due to ADULT stem cell research and not the stupid leftist promoted embryonic research which has utterly failed to help human kind.
It is the left which has slowed down the progress of science by diverting attention from the more successful adult stem cell research to focus on the less effective and mightily dangerous embryonic research. They have wasted time, money, and lives.
Typical.
It was the Christian right, in particular, that supported the more viable, more effective, and supremely scientifically sound stem cell research.
Woo Suks and so does fraudulent leftist “science”.

“Even pigeons can sense magnetic fields.”
…don’t you remember the first time you fell in love?
or haven’t you been down the rabbit hole yet…
Mike S.,
Well said. The Bush regime is still free to spew their lies and their attempts to rewrite history and many innocent people are still being held without any charges. Go figure.

We got screwed on the five senses thing. Even pigeons can sense magnetic fields. If we could too, this would have made sense long ago. I would just be concerned the procedure might disrupt my magnetic personality and animal magnetism.

Slap-up funny … great way to start my read.
“The enormity of the Bush Administration’s reversal of progress in so many fields, be they economic, political, sociological, constitutional, international or scientific, classes them as the most destructive administration in American History. The irony is that these clowns really thought they were doing the right thing…”
Yup, they were destructive to say the least…by way of thier incredible deafness to those who were experts and knowledgeable in the fields they so haphazardly disrupted.
I hope your situation improves
You might say that this article raised a subject near and dear to a specific organ of mine. Stem Cell organ repair was slowed down by the ridiculous ban on stem cell research by Bush. There are many promising techniques out there regarding using stem cells in organ repair, particularly an organ whose repair I really need. Unfortunately, although there have been some results it is still in the testing phase, though I hear you can get the process in Thailand.
There are many other things you can get in Thailand also, but I’m not sure I’m in the market for any of it. I could no doubt qualify for one of the ongoing trials now being done, but since they are double blind and my condition is deteriorating a 50/50 shot at getting the real thing is then lowered by the odds of it being successful and so doesn’t qualify as good risk management for me.
The enormity of the Bush Administration’s reversal of progress in so many fields, be they economic, political, sociological, constitutional, international or scientific, classes them as the most destructive administration in American History. The irony is that these clowns really thought they were doing the right thing and that part of that was self-enrichment of themselves and their cronies. The sad thing is they’ve gotten away with it.
Can’t work. Too simple. Not enough monkey business to write a grant or a paper about.
Super way cool. If only we could put some weight into enlightened arguments, insert them into brain dead pols, then draw them to intelligent conclusions that way!
Then perhaps they would stop torturing, killing, or imprisoning innocent people at GITMO.

Local Doctors Do Brain Surgery Through The Nose
FORT WORTH (CBS 11 / TXA 21) ―
CBS
A diagnosis of a brain tumor can be pretty devastating, but imagine your surprise when the doctor says they can remove it through your nose! It’s the most non-invasive brain surgery out there, and it’s being used right here in North Texas.
For 27-year old Lindsey Rames of Dallas, life is just starting to get good.
“Life was normal, I was running around…very healthy and very active,” she said.
She got married earlier this year, and was studying for the state bar exam when the unthinkable happened.

Damn, I hear those hurt worse. But then again…whats a little skin grafts after all is said and done. Don’t forget the epoxy and filler next time you go to Home Depot. The wood filler is nice, smells a little, but it can be shaped to the side of the break and sanded as well.
AY,
Damn that Billy Mays! And it was a trepanation kit, not a lobotomy kit. I buy those at Radio Shack.
Buddha,
you sure it is not the metal plates that were installed with the craftman cordless drill after the DIY lobotomy kits that you can now purchase on “As Seen on TV”?
