The Maverick Makes Millions: Palin Makes More Than $12 Million Since July

Those small town values can add up. After quitting her job as Alaska Governor before the end of her term, Sarah Palin has raked in an estimated $12 million since July. Between speaking fees and her new reality show, Palin is becoming one of the wealthiest political figures in the country. In the meantime, questions are being raised about one organization that paid a speaking fee for Palin in California.

Pundits can debate the political costs and benefits of Sarah Palin’s decision to step down as Alaska governor, but the monetary advantages of leaving her $125,000-a-year public service post are beyond dispute.

This amounted includes $7 million deal for her first book and will earn $250,000 per episode for her new reality show.

California Attorney General Jerry Brown has ordered an investigation into the shredding of documents related to a Palin speech by the Cal State Stanislaus foundation, here. A state legislator had demanded documents on the speech, which may have come with a hefty $100,000 speaking fee.

  5. Obama did not make the dems “inconsequential”. They won the presidency, the senate and the house. I think things are looking up for him now. Palin on the other hand, if she were the candidate, would further marginalize the republican party.

  6. while this state university wants to pay $100,000 in taxpayer money to pay Sarah Palin for a pre-screened speech with bendy straws for her water bottles, 3 hotel rooms and cars, the Cal State University system is hemorrhaging money, slashing majors, faculty, and declining admissions for both Spring and Fall 2010, possibly going into next year.

  7. I went to a Zig Ziglar talk in college once, the motivational type. Zig asked the audience what it took to be successful and a bunch of people raised their hands and started telling Zig all of these different things, finally Zig says “no, no those are certainly required but hard work is necessary for success”. I got up and walked out and have never gone to another one of those motivational speakers again.

    I thought I was going to hear some sort of life changing intelligence, I could have saved the 20 bucks and given it to my grandmother who had already taught me that lesson.

    New TV ratings are out CNN in a major decline over the last six months. It seems the general public is having doubts about what ever they say about whomever they say it’s about.

  13. Proof again that there is no correlation between merit and making money. Cousin Sarah is even coming to Richmond (albeit via satellite hookup) to join the Zig Ziglar/Rudy Guiliani “Get Motivated” tour. She’ll be joined by such other notables as Colin Powell and Terry Bradshaw. Tickets are $5.00 per person or $19.00 for your entire office. Given the value of the dollar, that’s about right for this crowd of carney barkers.
