Those small town values can add up. After quitting her job as Alaska Governor before the end of her term, Sarah Palin has raked in an estimated $12 million since July. Between speaking fees and her new reality show, Palin is becoming one of the wealthiest political figures in the country. In the meantime, questions are being raised about one organization that paid a speaking fee for Palin in California.
Pundits can debate the political costs and benefits of Sarah Palin’s decision to step down as Alaska governor, but the monetary advantages of leaving her $125,000-a-year public service post are beyond dispute.
This amounted includes $7 million deal for her first book and will earn $250,000 per episode for her new reality show.

California Attorney General Jerry Brown has ordered an investigation into the shredding of documents related to a Palin speech by the Cal State Stanislaus foundation, here. A state legislator had demanded documents on the speech, which may have come with a hefty $100,000 speaking fee.
I meant Boston, not Boaston – ha!
Elaine, what is your recommendation for the best Boston newspaper? I am going to be in Boaston in a couple of weeks and I like to get local papers when I travel.
Don’t you all just love the irony of a State governor quitting mid-first term to make big bucks and then think she is made of the stuff that makes Presidents? forgetting her particularly scary political views, it is even more frightening to contemplate her abilities of self-justification, denial and entitlement.
Byron,
It’s childish to refer to the ‘Democrat’ party – you are better than that. Have the courtesy and respect to refer to the opposition correctly as the ‘Democratic’ party. Your ideas are more respectable without the juvenile wordplay.
Ay & Byron–
We did get some water in our basement. Fortunately no flooding. We just had to watervac one section of the basment several times a day.
I’ve been busy with a few things lately–including working on arrangements/plans for my daughter’s bridal shower and wedding, cooking for Easter, writing poems for National Poetry Month to post at my children’s literature blog, working on a writing project with a friend who’s a children’s author…
Nal has not done away with me. There’s no Agatha Christie-type “The Lady Vanishes” mystery going on.

The Herald is a tabloid. Don’t know what’s happened to The Union Leader and the Loebs. Never read either of those papers. I come from a blue collar immigrant family. My parents were staunch Democrats. They remembered what life was like for working class people before unions came onto the scene and helped to fight for better working conditions and safer work places for millions of Americans. Too many Americans have forgotten that. Look at what just happened at that non-union mine in West Virginia.
Honestly, I hope you managed ok and didn’t have any loses.
I second that and for the most part I hear everyone is fine.
The only real loss was Ted Kennedy’s seat 🙂
Blouise,
John was stuck with Sarah, if my source is correct he had another choice but was informed by the RNC whom to chose.
Are you sure you want to refer to me as a “teabagger”?
Let’s all thank John McCain for the gift of Sarah Palin … what a guy.
AY:
She has been swamped lately and trying to keep her head above water. 🙂
Elaine:
Honestly, I hope you managed ok and didn’t have any loses.
eLAINE:
is that still a conservative paper? I remember when I was a youngster I would go visit relatives and they would read the Manchester Union Leader.
Is the Loeb family still involved?
Elaine M.,
I am glad to see you are still around. I was wondering if nal did away with you. This is you and not an adopted nom de plume de nal?
Bdaman–
I don’t read a rag called The Boston Herald.
Scott Brown will be a no show at the event. He’s keeping his eye on re-election.
Sarah’s coming to my neck of the woods today.

Kay Bailey Hutchinson ran a terrible campaign, Byron. At one time she would have attracted democratic crossovers but she ran right and the dems stayed in their own primary. There also was another female candidate in that primary.
Swarthmore Mom:
“Obama did not make the dems “inconsequential”. They won the presidency, the senate and the house.”
the alternative was Hillary Clinton and conservative dems were run in open/competitive seats. The people are really pissed off. I am not voting for my republican candidate this time around because I dont think he is worth a rodents rear end. I dont think he is for constitutional principles and I am hoping an independent emerges I can vote for.
All my conservative friends are upset and democrat friends are not happy either. They are finally coming around to the realization that taxes will have to be raised to pay for this. Even they think they pay enough. There are other reasons as well but that seems to be the significant one.
At this point I think the house and senate are going to change hands, it is possible that neither party will have a majority but it appears that most tea partiers are probably going to vote for fiscally conservative candidates whether dem, repub, or indep. and I live in a pretty liberal area.
Didn’t Rick Perry win in Texas recently? That would not have happened 4 years ago, KBH would have beaten him.
I certainly don’t discount the possibility that I am all wet on this.
mespo–
Sarah’s coming to my neck of the woods today. She’s going to be speaking at the Tea Party on Boston Common. I just hope someone tosses the Bobblehead of Blather into Bahston Hahbah. Oh, wouldn’t that by glubbely?
Obama is a corporatist not a socialist.
I guess that explains the stock market going over 11 K.
I am not a Ron Paul supporter but I like what he said about Obama. He said that Obama is a corporatist not a socialist.
