While both Democratic and Republican politicians have continued to campaign on faith-based politics, Australia’s Prime Minister Julia Gillard has declared that she will not pretend to believe in God to appease religious voters.
Gillard insisted “I am not going to pretend a faith I don’t feel. I am what I am and people will judge that. . . . For people of faith, I think the greatest compliment I could pay to them is to respect their genuinely held beliefs and not to engage in some pretence about mine.”
Another change is that Gillard has a “first partner”: Tim Mathieson.

The best places to live on earth are lands where Christianity has had more power: America, Australia, Iceland, Europe, Canada, Britain. No one burglarizes China or Africa to live there like they burglarize America to live in the this great country created by a people generally devoted to the Bible.
Leftists and democrats do little but complain about a magnificent country created by a mostly Christian people but you do not see them move to the cesspool civilizations and hell-holes cultures that are not Christian based. Why is that? Why waste your life among a culture you hate? Oh. Is it because that culture created something worth keeping?
You betcha.
Just recall history. Remember where science, art, and industry flourished as never before. And know that it wasn’t or isn’t among the heathens and atheists. They have to take the table scraps of what Christian civilizations leave behind. China has science now because of western civilization.
Even Europe, once trashed by the Catholics for nearly a millennial, (then the Marxists) is even the envy of the loony left here in America.
You ignore who your leaders are at your own peril. All this godlessness and heathenism has been tried and failed. You yearn for devolution, debasement, disorder, degradation, and you don’t know it. That is because you hate the true god. He tells you you are a sinner and you would like to argue with him about that.
That said, phony Christians are very dangerous indeed. Apparently the MOST dangerous of leaders. Phony Christians who come to mind are Barack (no relation to Saddam Hussein )Obama, Bill Clinton, George Bush 43, and FDR.
Buddha:
the bear is actually pretty good, I just tried the mountain lion out of curiosity and agree with you on the cats. It just ain’t right to eat a feline.
Byron,
Ostrich is pretty good. Lean though. I don’t think I’d eat big cats or bear. Something about that seems like bad juju to me.
PaulThomson,
I never tire of listening to that great song by John McDermott (among other artists) on his Danny Boy Collection CD. Another good anti-war song by him on that album is ‘The Green Fields of France’
Elaine:
and I thought it was about the individual against the all powerful state, silly me.
C.Everett Kook:
I never had Lion, but mountain lion is better than I thought it would be.
I also never had ostrich but I have heard it is pretty good. That would be one hell of a drumstick at thanksgiving though.
Beer was not a typo although they did have bear as well.
How refreshing !!
Someone who doesn’t shake in their boots when the fairy-tale merchants start their squawking and expect everyone to conform… NOT !!!
Here’s one for all you pagans–the ending of Breaker Morant, my favorite movie of all time and one of the finest anti-war movies ever made. Brought to us by the Aussies.

OK, since you are doing Aussie songs, here is one of the best anti-war songs every written, called The Band Played Waltzing Matilda:
Good on her! Now, if only U.S. politicians would be so brave …
Tim Mathieson may be Julia Gillard‘s first partner, but he is Australia‘s “9th partner.”
Australia’s “first partner” is of course Prince Philip.
Byron said:
‘[Caribou Barbie] may be a numb-nut but she has good taste. As my grandmother used to say “her taste is all in her mouth”.’
It’s surprising that she has room for something besides her foot in her mouth. 😉
p.s. How was the beer cooked?

Good Onya Ms. Julia, Right-O!
Let them religious jumbucks traipse after that silly sky billy-ghost and end up stranded in a billabong of nothingness. Although it is 110 degrees here, I’m a’gonna far’ up my billy and drink a cuppa tae for ya lass.
One of the greatest tunes ever:
Byron: have you tried ostrich? far better than beef easier to raise and more ecologically friendly
and is beer a typo meant to be bear?
some 25 years ago when I was still a young passionate chef my beef guy tried to sell me a leg of lion. I was tempted but I didn’t think I would be able to sell lion at the time plus I kept picturing 3 legged lions in Africa trying to hunt
