Islamabad, Pakistan is dealing with murder that seems the Middle East version of the water fountain scene in The Autobiography of Miss Jane Pittman.. Muslims attacked Hindus and forced dozens to flee their homes in Sindh province after a young Hindu boy committed the offense of drinking water from a cooler outside of a mosque.

After the boy was seen drinking out of a cooler, he was attacked and then 150 Muslims attacked the nearby Hindu community.

  1. Does it make sense that a boy is beaten up for drinking water outside a mosque… It is ridiculos may be there is a matter inside…?

  2. I think religions can be a means to spread good will but their leaders are choosing power and control instead. One protestant congregation that seems to open to all is the UCC. Have not been but have thought about it.

  3. Grammatical red alert: I meant, query what life on this planet would be like had religions never materialized as a pox on all our houses.

  4. Can’t Muslims drink water during Ramadan? How can they last without water for an entire month? I have to agree with the consensus that fundamentalism with any religion is crazy!

  5. Umm, is this the month of the Ramadan fast? When good muslims do not eat or drink during the daylight hours and relatively sparingly after dusk? (Exceptions are made for the ill, the very young and the very old, I think.)

I wouldn’t be at all surprised if the congregation perceived that the kid was taunting them by drinking right in front of the mosque, and that water fountain may have been part of the ritual ablutions equipment that Muslims use to wash before prayer…

OK, cancel that, Ramadan doesn’t start until August 11 this year. Having now read the India Times article, it doesn’t, after all, look like there was anything like that direct a provocation….

  6. But I’m guessing it is illegal to tea bag in front of a mosque.

Or a church or temple for that matter.

  7. I’m trying to figure out why it is forbidden for a hindu to drink water outside a mosque. The article doesn’t say. The only thing I can think of is that Muslims are supposed to wash their hands before they pray. Maybe that’s what the water cooler was for.

See? It all makes perfect sense, you bunch of infidels.

  8. The mid-east is clearly just too hot for thought,

muslims are as retarded as christians and jews are hypocrite for crying out loud

Poor poor Muhammed, he’s looking worse than a Catholic priest the summofabiatch.

  9. “Anyone starting to get the idea that these fundie muslims are presenting a clear and present danger to anyone who’s not a fundie muslim?” could have just as truthfully read “Anyone starting to get the idea that these fundie (insert religion here) are presenting a clear and present danger to anyone who’s not a fundie (insert religion here)?”

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: fundamentalism is a form of mental illness. Just as surely as a psychosis or delusion of any other form is a mental illness.

  10. Anyone starting to get the idea that these fundie muslims are presenting a clear and present danger to anyone who’s not a fundie muslim?
