Peter Crotty has some peculiar ideas about his job responsibilities. Crotty, a waiter at Buffalo Wild Wings, in suburban Skokie, Illinois, takes waiting tables and the “Wild” in “Wild Wings” very seriously. When three area teens decided to skip out on their $51.00 bill, Crotty did his best Olivia Newton John (no, not ‘Let’s Get Physical,” it’s “Grease,” silly) and leaped aboard the roof rack of the teens’ SUV. Our earnest garçon rode the vehicle for eight blocks until the vehicle went behind a building and Crotty jumped off. Dutiful as ever, Crotty ran back to the restaurant and finished his shift. Cops were called and made arrests. And you wonder why there are no car-hops around anymore.

Blouise and S M
As I told bdaman when he brought this up before, now we know why the Republicans are so desperate to take over congress. If they don’t, how will they help their banking buddies over this hump?
Can’t wait to see the fireworks over another bail out. The Tea Party will really own the Republicans when that’s over.

Lottakatz/Gingerbaker:
They made $200-$400 dollars per night during the summer. I doubt anyone is going to complain about 50 bucks here and there.
So shut it down and put a bunch of college kids out of good paying jobs, that makes no sense at all.
Anyway I may have my story wrong and it might have been they lose a shift. It is a good life lesson, pay attention or you may get screwed. The lessons that cost a little money or some pain and suffering are the ones that are remembered. But then again the whole essence of the nanny state is to make sure no one ever has any pain or suffering or has to lose any money, in other words to divorce actions from consequences.
I know a few parents that have divorced their children’s actions from consequences and their children run amok and will be hard pressed to become productive citizens.

“Byron, Last I had occasion to check it was a violation of Federal labor law for tipped employees to have to pay for dine-and-dash customers meals. It’s a pretty common restaurant practice to break that law though and waitstaff are afraid to blow the whistle. As I recall it’s also illegal to charge for breakage. Tipped employees make (as little as) something like $2.50 an hour so I think restaurants that illegally burden them with this kind of charge should be shut down for a first time offense.”
Right on! Labor law should be the most highly enforced area of the law. Pull the State Troopers out of their speed traps and put them to work protecting employees.
Along that vein, if we truly wanted to end illegal immigration it would be real easy. Immigrants come to the USA to work as illegal workers. No jobs for them, and they have no reason to come. Labor laws should be enforced – no illegal workers and no illegally low wages and no illegally substandard working conditions. Violations of these should put the employer behind bars. The strikes, you’re out. Do this and everyone’s wages would go up./rant

Mespo,
That was an amazing story of dedication by that employee. I hope his manager didn’t “dock” his pay after that effort.
Let me back up on something that I just posted:
“Add to that a possible Republican take over in the House and Senate”
And say with the crop of that party representatives that are out there now.Makes it scarey.
Blouise:
“The people who so carefully designed the mortgage securitization process unwittingly devised a costly trap for people who ran roughshod over their handiwork. The trap has closed — and unless the mortgage finance industry agrees to a sensible way out of it, the entire economy will be the victim. ”
Add to that a possible Republican take over in the House and Senate,We all may as well bend over an,well you know kiss it good bye.
http://www.nakedcapitalism.com/2010/10/our-new-york-times-op-ed-how-the-banks-put-the-economy-underwater-2.html Blouise: You can’t get to the NYT without a subscription. I have one but some might not so I am posting the same thing from Yves Smith’s blog. You are right that it is an important read.
I’m going to put this link regarding the economy on this thread because the kid didn’t let the thieves get away.
The link is from today’s NY Times and explains the mortgage/economy problem quite well … highly recommend a quick read:

Put Nal with his **Do It Again** thread and this video about this thread and you will be in nostalgia heaven:
This gives me an idea.
Note to self: call International Olympic Committee.
My son worked at Hoopers in Ocean City Maryland for a couple of summers and they had a rule that if you got stiffed by a dine and dasher, you paid the bill.
So I imagine the reason the guy did that was to keep from having to pay the little jerks’s bill.
Please, if you eat it, don’t beat it. Pay your bill.
