Bangladeshi Woman Dies After Caning For Adultery

Sufia Begum, 50, has become the latest victim of Sharia justice. The Bangladeshi woman died after being publicly caned for an alleged extramarital affair with her stepson.

Begum was sentenced by an Islamic court in her village and whipped 40 times on Nov. 12. The caning was carried about by a Muslim cleric and a local woman. Police reported that village elders “tied 10 canes together and beat her legs.” She was left swollen and her kidneys were badly damaged. Her family was trying to raise money for medical treatment when she died.

Bangladesh outlawed punishments in the name of religious edicts and two people have been arrested.

  2. The New York Times is very good at this.

    Check this article out

    http://www.nytimes.com/2010/12/22/science/earth/22carbon.html?_r=1&pagewanted=1

You get halfway through the article and they hit you with the big question.

The greatest question in climate science is: What will that do to the temperature of the earth?

Are you kidding me? Everybody knows the answer to that. Read the rest so you know how the planet will be destroyed if we don’t act now.

Speaking of which anybody know how many years they been using the classic, if we don’t act now meme?

  3. Here’s how it works

In 2004 Chief scientist Professor Sir David King said that Antarctica will soon be the only place to live – literally

He said the Earth was entering the “first hot period” for 60 million years, when there was no ice on the planet and “the rest of the globe could not sustain human life”.

He goes on to say blah blah blah

Exaggerated and inaccurate claims about the threat from global warming risk undermining efforts to cut greenhouse gas emissions and contain climate change, senior scientists have told The Times.

Environmental lobbyists, politicians, researchers and journalists who distort climate science to support an agenda erode public understanding and play into the hands of sceptics, according to experts including a former government chief scientist.

“I worry a lot that NGOs [non=governmental organisations] are very much in the habit of doing exactly that,” said Professor Sir David King, director of the Smith School for Enterprise and the Environment at the University of Oxford, and a former government chief scientific adviser.

  4. “We have never had a reason until now to believe that parts of the spectrum may vary out of phase with the solar cycle, but now we have started to model that possibility because of the SIM results,” said Robert Cahalan, the project scientist for SORCE and the head of the climate and radiation branch at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Md.

“We may have a lot more to learn about how solar variability works, and how the sun might influence our climate,” Cahalan said.

This is why Buddha thinks the sun was a constant and why I told him he was living in the past and needed to catch up.

As recently as the 1970s, scientists assumed that the sun’s irradiance was unchanging; the amount of energy it expels was even called the “solar constant.”

  5. What happened during the last solar minimum? What was the concentration of C02 in the atmosphere then?

  6. Bdaman: “How could these experts in Climate Change be wrong?

They’re not, Why? because every time they open their mouth and say something that turns out to be the opposite they have to come up with another reason to bolster the original claim. It’s kinda like when you tell a lie you have to continue to lie to cover up the first one.”
    ———-

Right. It’s like ‘it’s not man, it’s the sun.’

‘But we’re at a solar minimum, a ‘deep minimum’ for about 2 years and have been for 12 years, a while longer than average.’

‘But our position is different and we can’t do anything about that, yea, that’s the ticket, the relative positions are different now.’

In a couple of years the reasons given for humanity not having an impact will be that we are in a solar maximum phase.

  7. Hi Nathan…..do I know you…..Are you bdaman or are you one in the same?

  8. I am a thread jacker. I live by the sea in florida. we have lots of sand. I like the weather whether it is inside or out, don’t you?

My name is not bdaman. my head is not in the sand.

The reason for that is that the level of atmospheric moisture is a function of how warm the seas are.

The current oceans are freezing. You have bought into a circular argument. It goes like this. The more CO2 that gets put into the atmosphere the hotter the planet will get. Is this not what they have been telling us for years? Now it’s the more C02 that gets put into the atmosphere the hotter the planet will get putting more moisture in the air which leads to more snowfall and monsoons according to what you’ve read for years.

However lets take a look at what the experts said

Dr David Viner, of the Climatic Research Unit in East Anglia one of the most highly respected scientist in terms of climate change said this, “within a few years winter snowfall will become “a very rare and exciting event,Children just aren’t going to know what snow is, he said. Heavy snow will return OCCASIONALLY but when it does we will be unprepared. “We’re really going to get caught out. Snow will probably cause chaos in 20 years time,” he said.

Then there is David Parker, at the Hadley Centre for Climate Prediction and Research in Berkshire he said, ultimately, British children could have only virtual experience of snow. Via the internet, they might wonder at polar scenes – or eventually “feel” virtual cold.

There are at least a half a dozen “Climate Experts” in this article who say the same thing written in 2000. They could not be further from the truth.

Snowfalls are now just a thing of the past
    http://www.independent.co.uk/environment/snowfalls-are-now-just-a-thing-of-the-past-724017.html

Then you even have the worlds most respected gardeners who also have said Winter has gone for ever and we should officially bring spring forward instead

How could these experts in Climate Change be wrong?

They’re not, Why? because every time they open their mouth and say something that turns out to be the opposite they have to come up with another reason to bolster the original claim. It’s kinda like when you tell a lie you have to continue to lie to cover up the first one.

CO2 is not the main driver of temperatures. There are many many factors that play into climate change. You have been lied to. Think about it. How can CO2 which gives life as much as 02 be the only ingredient to cause Climatic Change, a warmer world. Which a warmer one is far better than a colder one. You can’t treat CO2 like the thermostat in your home turning it up or down to make it warm or cold, it won’t work.

Can you control the sun?,no. Another expert, Buddha would like you to believe the sun is a constant, it is not. The sun goes through changes as well. Can you control earthquakes? I bet you didn’t know that an earthquake in the right spot could create a catastrophic climate change.

You keep believing that CO2 is the cause for everything hot and now cold. I’ll keep spamming to show you the truth.

  10. Chan L. Not quite but yes, mostly. I have read for years that the most likely long term and damaging global event of warming climate will be a return to ice age conditions. The reason for that is that the level of atmospheric moisture is a function of how warm the seas are, the warmer they are the more moisture is put into the atmosphere. Monsoons become more large or drop more water than normal (historically) etc. Likewise, increased snowfall will occur in the colder latitudes.

  11. So like whats the problem….happens all the time….who kissed and told….a gentleman never does…

  12. Bdaman:

I just learned that Global Warming isnt about global warming at all but about returning to an ice age:

“In addition to the change in solar radiation there can be random changes in the Earth’s weather variations, that contribute to triggering the bifurcation or the ‘catastrophe’. Such variations are called ‘noise’, and a theory is, that the atmosphere’s CO2 level can be an important noise-factor. This means that there is the possibility that the ‘noise’ is a decisive factor for very large climate changes, which can therefore be unpredictable.
There is still no explanation for the change in the climate system 1 million years ago, but one theory is that the atmosphere’s CO2-level fell to the lowest level ever. If so, the manmade increase in CO2 may result in a return to 40.000 year ice age cycles.”

    Gertie Skaarup
    University of Copenhagen

So we need to reduce CO2 to prevent global warming so we dont go into another ice age so we can keep the polar ice from melting and flooding the planet. It makes perfect sense now.

Global warming is caused by man and we will go into an ice age because of excess CO2 which will warm the planet thereby cooling the planet and sending us into an ice age.

    Have I got that right?

  13. P.S. November’s record high Antarctic Sea Ice Area of 16.90 Million Sq Km, exceeded the prior record of 16.76 Million Sq Km (Set in November 2005), by 140,000 Square Kilometers.

  14. Blouise:

so you dont think white supremacists have a culture?

“A nation’s culture is the sum of the intellectual achievements of individual men, which their fellow-citizens have accepted in whole or in part, and which have influenced the nation’s way of life. Since a culture is a complex battleground of different ideas and influences, to speak of a “culture” is to speak only of the dominant ideas, always allowing for the existence of dissenters and exceptions.”

So I submit that Timothy McVeigh was from a culture that espoused the ideas of fascism/socialism/white supremacy.

Just as a nation has a culture so do smaller groups of individuals.

  15. And what part of unstable weather doesn’t describe summertime snow fall in Australia?

Earth’s orbit around and orientation toward the Sun change over spans of many thousands of years. In turn, these changing “orbital mechanics” force climate to change because they change where and how much sunlight reaches Earth. (Please see for more details.) Thus, changing Earth’s exposure to sunlight forces climate to change. According to scientists’ models of Earth’s orbit and orientation toward the Sun indicate that our world should be just beginning to enter a new period of cooling — perhaps the next ice age.

“New Little Ice Age Cannot Be Ruled Out”

Wednesday, 15 December 2010 09:16 Rickmer Flor, wetter.info Everybody is talking about global warming – but in Germany and also in many other countries around the world people are currently fighting with the adversities of extreme cold. And indeed: “The year 2010 will be the coldest for ten years in Germany,” said Thomas Globig from the weather service Meteo Media talking to wetter.info . And it might even get worse: “It is quite possible that we are at the beginning of a Little Ice Age,” the meteorologist said. Even the Arctic ice could spread further to the south.

    http://www.thegwpf.org/science-news/2053-speculation-alert-qnew-little-ice-age-cannot-be-ruled-outq.html

Piers Corbyn also things we are headed for a new ice age based on his study of the sun.

He seems to get it right about 85 per cent of the time and serious business people – notably in farming – are starting to invest in his forecasts. In the eyes of many punters, he puts the taxpayer-funded Met Office to shame. How on earth does he do it? He studies the Sun.

Piers said (Dec 13th): “The midwest has already had tremendous snow deluges around 10-12 December but ‘You ain’t seen nothing yet’ compared with what is going to hit NE USA including New York State in the period 25-31st December. This is likely to be one of the most significant snowfall/blizzard periods in NE & East USA for decades”.

I don’t want to clog this thread up so sorry everyone. If you would like more info you know where it is.
