Alabama Gov. Robert Bentley had a special message for non-Christian citizens immediately after his swearing in as governor: believe in Christ or do not consider me your brother.
Here is Bentley’s uplifting message: “Anybody here today who has not accepted Jesus Christ as their savior, I’m telling you, you’re not my brother and you’re not my sister, and I want to be your brother.”
His office later issued a statement explaining “The governor clearly stated that he will be the governor of all Alabamians Democrat, Republican and Independent, young, old, black and white, rich and poor.”
Perhaps they could have added Christian and Non-Christians to the list.
Bentley has since apologized.

Seymour Hersh: Military Branch Being Run By ‘Crusaders’
01/21/11
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/01/21/seymour-hersh-military-crusaders_n_812363.html
The New Yorker’s Seymour Hersh alleged in a speech in Qatar that key branches of the U.S. military are being led by Christian fundamentalist “crusaders” who are determined to “turn mosques into cathedrals.”
“What I’m really talking about is how eight or nine neoconservative, radicals if you will, overthrew the American government. Took it over,” Hersh said.
He said that the attitude that “pervades” a large portion of the Joint Special Operations Command, which is part of the military’s special forces branch and which has carried out secret missions to kill American targets, is one that supports “[changing] mosques into cathedrals.”

Tootie,
If you haven’t already, you may find reading David Bentley Hart’s “Atheist Delusions” useful.
For all I know, you and I may be swimming here in an ocean brimming over with atheist delusions (and also some theist delusions?).
If so, for me, it is like walking on liquid water that is like solid dry land.
Again, I thank you for your comments.

Now I know why the book,
“Atheist Delusions,”
is on a bookshelf next to,
“Why I Am Not a Christian,”
is on a bookshelf next to,
“The Psychology of Imagination.”
Book – Author:
“The Psychology of Imagination” – Jean Paul Sartre
“Why I Am Not a Christian” – Bertrand Russell
“Atheist Delusions” – David Bentley Hart

I subscribe to Badwin’s law. It is the law that says anyone who invokes Goodwin’s Law during a conversation has something untoward to hide.
Blind,
Goodwin’s law is simply that the longer a discussion on the internet goes on, the more likely someone is to bring up Hitler. Or as he put it, “As an online discussion grows longer, the probability of a comparison involving Nazis or Hitler approaches 1.”
Tootie comes not to break Godwin’s Law, but to fulfill it.
….and Tootie breaks Godwin’s Law yet again.
oops…sorry for the above (rogue keyboard)
Pete:
To your post/video about LSD I add this:
http://www.lewrockwell.com/grigg/grigg-w191.html
It’s about Jared Loughner (recent Tucson assassin), Ted Kaczynski (Harvard), LSD, the education/media/government complex, and the CIA.

mespo:
To my comments about sound scripture and the governor you wrote
“That’s exactly the problem with your religion.”
Oh yeah, and when did I believe you had what it takes to be the judge of that? LOL
By your reckoning, Hilter should be your brother. I mean…of course..if Hitler was alive. Okay, let’s go with someone alive: George Bush and Dick Cheney are your brothers.
Okay. Now I’m really laughing.
If everyone is my brother and sister then there is no distinction between folks. And so now I’m thinking you’re the one with the screwy ideas.
And indeed, according to your theory, I’m your sister.
So, can I borrow your car bro? Or a few thousand buckaroos. You see bro, I’m in real need here.
Christianity: The belief that a cosmic Jewish Zombie who was his own father can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree….yeah, that makes perfect sense.
Yikes! Twins!
mespo,
you nailed it
I’m sure it’s just me, but doesn’t Alabama Gov. Robert Bentley bear an uncanny resemblance to Reverend Kane in Poltergeist II:

Talks like him, too!
I wonder if the Governor has considered the possibility that some of us might not want to be his brother or sister?
Recently an atheist group put a billboard in Denver that had a picture of Santa Claus and read “Yes Virginia, There is no God.”
I was talking to a friend who was upset and said it was in bad taste.
I reminded her of incidents like this and said “Welcome to what Atheists put up with all the time.”

BIL, thank you for your brilliant summation of that particular malignant boil on the family stump.
There is, regrettably, a Theory. In honor of the “governor,” we’ll call it Alabama Theory. I have a banjo here somewhere.
There exists an ancient volcano named Toba which blew its stack some 74,000 years ago in what is now Indonesia, where its caldera forms Lake Toba.
At the time of KERBLEWIE!, there were an estimated 2 million humans alive on earth. The explosion of Toba was on the order of several thousand Mt. St. Helens events, and thrust the planet into a deep winter that lasted nearly a decade. A gene bottleneck coincides with this event in which it is estimated 1,000 breeding pairs survived. And these would have been in pockets, scattered throughout the world.
All humans alive today arose from these cold, shivering folks, who must have inter-bred for some time. Many had, it is supposed, “pretty mouths.”
We feast on the remains.
And to CM, interesting thoughts, but as to narrative, and forgive my vernacular, but WTF?!?
Actually, I kinda like what that other fella, Joshua of Capernaum had to say, to such extent as I understand it.
I read something about that social misfit in a book.

CM You need to look to the Americans and not the Europeans to find examples of the type of thinking that you are talking about.
Swarthmore Mom
Damn, yu have got me again. I will have to search for more examples of God Bothering Moralizing humbug type of true Christian. The Ayatollah Khomeni and Osama Bin Laden would do except for the minor fact that they are Muslims. However if they converted to Christianity they would be excellent choice to illustrate the kind of mind set that true Christians have.
