Gingrich Calls For Elimination of The Environmental Protection Agency

In a further example of the rush to the bottom in our political system, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich told the Conservative Political Action Conference that he intends to scrap the EPA which he claims has waged a “war on American energy.”

Gingrich wants to create an Environmental Solutions Agency that rewards innovation. It is an incredible statement about the extreme of the conservative movement. While insisting that they are fighting for family values, they would eliminate the agency that protects the health of our families and particularly our children. The EPA is already struggling with limited funding and enforcement capacity. Yet, Gingrich wants to eliminate it — and views that pledge as a key to securing Republican votes.

    You could be right about the book, but I think Gingrich’s ego is so big that he still thinks America is calling him. I would like to see him run so that all of his broken wedding vows could be rerun on the news for all to see what a tramp he is.
    I am not sure that Trumps hair would ever be allowed in any Federal installations because he has to have something hiding in their!

    Divorced serial adulterer? Nah. He’s sly enough to know he wouldn’t get elected, and that’s there’s just enough people that aren’t that sly to give his book sales a boost.

    He does the same thing every other Republican primary or so.

    I think Newt will run for office until he gets smacked down by the Republican voters. This EPA crap is just that. Crap. Gingrich is a corporate stooge just like most of the Republicans and some of the Dems. Here he wants to end the agency that was created under a Republican President. If the EPA is allowed to be killed or reined in even more, the result is that people will die. Some slowly, some quickly, but they will die while corporations who are supposed to be people show their true colors. This is another example of why it does matter who you vote for even if there are some bad Dems. The Republicans will take us back to the 18th century if they are given the opportunity.

  10. The country scrapped Newt Gingrich a long time ago. This is another “test” case to see if the EPA is a good wedge issue. If the left laughs at him and the right doesn’t fringe themselves with teabags over it then the subject will be dropped and a new one will be introduced. It’s the “Great Wedge Issue Hunt”.

Just surfing the news channels and watching the citizens enjoy this moment,I clicked on fox ,I swear these people could find something negative if a person regained their sight after being blind for years or a person being able to walk after being wheel chair bound all of their lives.Egypt is the perfect example of the saying”Together we stand,dived we fall”

    Tossing the EPA isn’t just a ‘gift’ to big business, it is an early event in the push to privatize water. Without protections and a loss of oversight to that resource, there will be steady attacks against the laws that keep water out of Corporate hands. They have been wanting to exploit this resource here for a long time. Be AWARE!!!!!

  17. Culheath, nice pic on your site. Earlier in the week the square was not so filled, there was some open space and there wasn’t a tent city in the middle. The crowd is staying larger during ‘down’ times. It’s an awesome sight.

As the budget battle to come get more shrill the people that want to dismantle the social and environmental protections for the country are going to seize on dollar arguments to justify these gifts to corporate America. This is a fully scalable chart of last years government income and spending. Its lovely and on my desktop for easy reference. EPA=10b., Navy Office of Procurement=44b. Just the Navy, just one Navy Office.

    40% of the EPA budget goes toward water quality. If that goes the restraint against fracking coal seams, mountaintop removal, petrochemical discharge into rivers goes. The need to update waste treatment and drinking water supply issues is left entirely to municipalities and states and the issues regarding animal and crop farming runoff disappears. Big gifts for business.

    Gingrich has left the budget arguments behind, he’s a pubic warrior against the people and for business IMO, that’s why I don’t mind listening to him as much as most others, he’s more honest in his mission.

    For the rest of the lying corporatists a chart is useful.
