Iran Protests Symbol for London Games As Hidden Zionist Message

When you look at this image, what do you see? It turns out that the Iranian government sees a Zionist conspiracy bent on taking over the 2012 Olympics. The Iranian government has sent a formal letter of protest to the International Olympic Committee objecting that the logo for the 2012 London Olympics spells out “Zion.” This is something of real Rorschach test. When I look at it, I see Mahmoud Ahmadinejad beating a protester in Enghelab square.

The secretary general of Iran’s National Olympic Committee Bahram Afsharzadeh called the art a “racist logo.” I would call it simply remarkably ugly. Yet, the Iranians warn that they and other Arab nations may choose not to attend the games. The IOC had a terse reply: “Our response is as follows: The London 2012 logo represents the figure 2012, nothing else.”

This could be final proof of collective madness in the Iranian government. Here is definition of paranoia:

Paranoid personality disorder is characterized by a distrust of others and a constant suspicion that people around you have sinister motives. People with this disorder tend to have excessive trust in their own knowledge and abilities and usually avoid close relationships with others. They search for hidden meanings in everything and read hostile intentions into the actions of others. They are quick to challenge the loyalties of friends and loved ones and often appear cold and distant to others. They usually shift blame to others and tend to carry long grudges.

Hmmm. Sound familiar. It turns out that Ahmadinejad was given the Rorschach image to the right and saw Golda Meir running with an Olympic torch.

  1. I’m just pleased that someone has found the time to hand down a definitive answer to what this thing is. It has an insidious nnature and has sprung up all over London and the home counties.

Many in the UK have torn out their hair at this (yet another) example of what apparently happens when you start handing out blank cheques to those who claim to have “talent”.

For the sake of the sanity of all concerned I’ll happily accept it as a symbol of yet another Zionist Conspiracy.

Now we just have to get the Iranians to work out what those darned Zionists are up to this time, perhaps an attempt at world domination via the use cryptic logotypes?

  2. It’s always been a very unpopular symbol over here for the simple reason that it’s crap and someone got paid a lot of money to dream it up.

Our most popular interpretation is of it being Lisa Simpsons first blowjob.

Nice to know that our nation still has its’ “Carry On” humour.

  3. Buddha-

Dr. Melfi’s other patient, Bobby “Bacala” Baccalieri, was recently shot and left for dead in a New Jersey model train store. Luckily, he survived and has gone underground. He has assumed the name “Chris Christie” and is now masquerading as the Governor of New Jersey. And you thought I had identity issues.

  4. Olympic Games symbols and graphics are supposed to be stupid aren’t they?

  5. HenMan,

    Or you could just fuggedaboutit!

Although given the nature of the interpretation, eh, maybe not. 🙂

  6. Those Iranians are screwy. That’s obviously a man with hemorrhoids kneeling down to tie his shoe and bumping his head on a fire hydrant while a safe with the Olympic logo falls on his shoulders from the third floor of the House of Commons. I have no idea what that thing is that has “london” written on it. I’m going to talk to my psychiatrist, Dr. Melfi, about that.

Thanks! I never saw 2012 until you mentioned it.

Maybe London hired one of their many middle eastern immigrants and it really says “Zion will explode in 2012”.

  8. AY,
You are correct. Wasn’t there a nice picture of Rummy shaking hands with Saddam Hussein also? These guys have some interesting “friends”!
    James M.,
I saw that story about the Iranian officials arresting the opposition leaders. One more example of how democratic Iran really is.

  9. rafflaw,

Did not Geo the First play with the Iranians before he and Ronnie got the nod?

  10. Actually Iran is not an Arabic nation, it is Persian & both they and the Arabs note the difference.

The punchline to the joke that goes with this story is:
“But doctor, you’re the one showing me all these dirty pictures!”

  11. I agree that the logo is remarkably ugly. It is also unclear; it looks as much like “Zion” as it does “2012.” To me, it looks like a bad, and undecipherable, graphic.

Epic fail to whatever committee accepted the graphic.

Could this ever be a reasonable and plausibly accurate descriptor of any actually living person?

Could it ever be a reasonably and plausibly accurate descriptor of me?

Could it ever be a reasonably and plausibly accurate descriptor of some person who as though may be interpreted or misinterpreted as though taking exception to one or more aspects of my life?

    Sometimes, I wonder about that.

    Sometimes, I pray over that.

  13. Worse, Golda was naked and oiled down, as in the Classical Olympics.

To nit pick: Iran and “other Arab nations”?
