Aloha, Birthers: Obama Releases Long Form Birth Certificate

It turns out Barack Obama is . . . is . . . a citizen. The White House has released President Obama’s long-form birth certificate to put the growing controversy to rest over his birth. Many of us have been critical of the birther conspiracy theories. However, I am not sure why the White House did not do this earlier since it addresses the allegations fully. It will be interesting to see that, now that Obama has produced the certificate, if the movement for state ballot laws declines. While it has been repeatedly stated that the laws are not about Obama, but we will see.

The long-form clearly states the date and other information. It also includes the name of Obama’s father — a focus of recent suggestions that the reason for withholding the document was the name of a different man or the inclusion of Muslim for religion.

Donald Trump immediately took credit for the disclosure stating, “Today, I’m very proud of myself, because I’ve accomplished something that nobody else has been able to accomplish,” Trump told reporters. “Why he didn’t do it when everybody else was asking for it, I don’t know. But I am really honored, frankly, to have played such a big role in hopefully, hopefully getting rid of this issue.”

I am not sure why the White House held on to the document. One theory could be that they knew it would blow up in the faces of Obama’s critics. However, it has served to rally critics for years. Those critics are not likely to register with the DNC now. They are likely to move on to other claims against Obama.

Perhaps now that he clearly was born in Hawaii, they will now claim that his is part of the Hawaiian royalty and thus making him ineligible as the holder of a foreign ennoblement.

  5. Mike,

“This is childish debate-wise, but since the Media has allowed the
birther/teabagging crowd to get away with it, guys like you think that you can skate by, forever acting like you did when you tried to be bullies on your elementary schoolyard.”

Maybe we should have sympathy for these poor, puerile birthers and teabaggers. They never got past puberty. They still think they can act like bullies. Mentally speaking–they’re still on the schoolyard while the rest of us have graduated and moved on.

  6. “That is how you and others work on this site. You bait people with all kinds of spurious accusations and then when they respond in kind you cry foul.

The people here are monolithic in their thinking and do not entertain differing ideas without resorting to attacks. So I wouldn’t get too high and mighty about your ethics and integrity.”

    Howard,

I made no spurious allegations towards anyone in my post at 2:12pm. I provided an example. I’m not calling anyone commenting here a child molester, simply because I have no information, or suspicion of that fact about those commenting. I used child molester simply because it is agreed by almost all to be a damning accusation. I could have used another but the President’s birther/teabagger attackers have sort of cornered the market on spurious attacks:

Communist, NAZI, Muslim, Traitor, Radical, Black Nationalist, Racist, Dictator, Kenyan, Lawbreaker, Un-American and yes non-American to hear the birthers/teabaggers tell it. I merely picked yet another outrageous, untrue characterization to make my point, which you obviously can’t/won’t respond to. Instead you lamely try to turn my argument around on me by accusing me of the things of which the birthers/teabaggers are guilty. This is childish debate-wise, but since the Media has allowed the
birther/teabagging crowd to get away with it, guys like you think that you can skate by, forever acting like you did when you tried to be bullies on your elementary schoolyard.

It doesn’t work here because most of us are far too sophisticated in debating and logic to allow it. That is the real basis of your complaint when you say:

“The people here are monolithic in their thinking and do not entertain differing ideas without resorting to attacks.”

I know it’s frustrating to your type to not be able to get away with the same crap here as you do “around the water fountain.” So you pretend it is because of our intolerance and not a factor of your own lack of logic, information and the ability
to see beyond propaganda. Most of those who comment here and who you decry as monolithic are in fact quite iconoclastic. FFLEO mentioned before that we have locked horns in debate, but did it without vitriol and with the utmost respect for each other. Buddha, who I’m at times accused of being an accomplice of, disagrees with me on much of the US/Israel policy and on whether to vote for Obama in 2012. I could go on, but I doubt you would catch the meaning.

In that vein though what does:

“here is my IP address to save you the trouble of phishing for it-198.75.146.123.
Kinda like the tatoo on the arms of the Jews.”

mean? As a proud Jew I take umbrage against those who cavalierly throw around obscure references to the Shoah. If it means that you birther/teabaggers feel yourselves victimized like the Jews
than your reference is an exercise in monumental stupidity. If it means a backhanded threat then you are equally stupid. However, if its an anti-Jewish reference of you own divising then it is both stupid and vile.

  7. Yes it did and Hillary Clinton brought it up the first time, just as Al Gore brought up Willie Horton against Dukakis. Funny how the dems are the one to play the race card and then blame the repubs.

So much for integrity and honesty. If Hillary and Bill Clinton (Americas first balck president) wouldnt have brought it up, it wouldnt even be an issue. I wonder how many Hillary Clinton supporters were original birthers?

I bet that venal bitch is laughing her ass off.

What a bunch of real clowns you truly are.

  8. Howard,

If I may add, BS to your BS. I hope that they negate each other as in mathematical propositions.

  9. Mike Spindell:

“So let’s ponder this now. If I call someone a child molester it is his/her responsibility to prove me wrong, even though I lack any proof of my claim and my allegations have been adjudged by legal entities to be false. This is the logic of a whining toddler who is reprimanded for bad behavior. It is sad that so many adults fail to evolve out of that childhood stage known as magical thinking.”

Pardon me while I say bullshit.

  11. Kris,

The whole birther debate began because Obama is black. Had his father been born in a foreign country but been white, there would have been no birther movement in this country. President Obama released the long form of his birth certificate recently because Donald “Always Having a Bad Hair Day” Trump made it an issue once more and got all the crazy birthers riled up again. The idiot media played right along with the publicity-seeking narcissist/Chapter 11 fan Trump.

  12. This has been interesting, I guess. I gotta tell you that whomever wrote that first comment to VT … it was damn ugly and literally turned my stomach.

Mind you, I am making no assumptions here, but please keep in mind … tyranny takes many forms and “friendly-fire” is one of them.

  13. Mike S.,
As usual, well said. You are a true statesman. Former Fed,
it is good to see you back here on a regular basis.

  15. FFLEO,

Back at you. You represent your views with the same integrity that no doubt informed your career. You hearken back to the days of my youth when Conservatives like Dwight Eisenhower, Bob Taft and Everett Dirksen were the stars of the Republican Party. While one may have disagreed with some of their approaches to policy, no one could deny their loyalty to the ideals of this country and their sense of responsibility to its people. In today’s climate these men would be considered moderates or liberals and become objects of derision to a vocal minority who think life is like rooting for your favorite football team and that party lines must be adhered to strictly, despite the dictates of ones conscience.

  16. FFL:

May I use you words to describe my feelings for Mike S.

    “Mike Spindell,

Without reservation, my respect for you is illimitable.”

Mike we must remember when the birthers fall on their face when the truth is right in front of them they spin, lie confuse the discussion.

We cannot give an inch, nor should we.

  17. Kris aka Jim,

We now know for a fact that President Obama released his legal Hawai’ian birth certificate almost 3 years ago – a document which is now the most meticulously verified birth documentation in the history of the planet (you don’t have Jesus’ birth certificate, do you?) Why didn’t you believe it 3 years ago? Could the answer to that question be that you are prejudiced against President Obama? I believe that you’ve demonstrated that the answer is a clear and resounding ‘YES!’.

  18. Elaine M.
