South Carolina Pastor Charged With Serial Rapes Of Women Behind Church

South Carolina Dale Richardson has been arrested on charges that he is a serial rapist who kidnapped women and assaulted them in a trailer behind his Freedom Free Will Baptist Church.

Richardson is also charged with kidnapping a fourth woman but not raping her. He allegedly used a gun in the crimes.

Remarkably, his picture and profile are still featured on the church’s website. The bio states “Brother Dale and his wife, Susan (of 26) years have two daughters, Katelynn (18) and Tiffany (24).” It also gives “Brother Dale’s life Scripture” as Isaiah 6:8 — “Also I heard the voice of the Lord, Saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for US? Then said I, Here am I, send me.”

Richardson became pastor of the church on June 9, 2010 after graduating from Liberty University in Lynchburg, Va.

With serial rapes on this kind, life sentences are common. There is no published allegation of his using his position as part of the alleged assaults — an aggravating circumstance in sentencing. However, his position would likely work against him in sentencing in pushing a court to the high end of the range.

  1. People are acting as if this were a surprise. Adultery and divorce are highest amongst fundamentalist christians, according to the fundamentalist christian Barna Group which does surveys.

  2. If there could be anything worse than being raped by a Falwell “Man-of-God,” it would be being raped by a hideously ugly Falwell “Man-of-God.” Sheesh. Where was his wife all this time? Why did he get by with this more than once? He could not possibly be confused with anyone else.

  3. For that again, is what all manner of religion essentially is: childish dependency.

  4. Mike S, it sure seems to work that way when it comes to public figures that go before the bar saying they found ghod. The first one I recall was Chuck Coulson. Good ol’ “hearts and minds” Coulson….

OS 🙂 He must have snuck in.

  5. You’ve all got it wrong. He is currently engaged in a strict regimen of repentance and prayer. His sins will be forgiven by God and he will be a new, better man, able to do the Lord’s work. Amen and Hallelujah!

  6. vicki – as Lincoln is reported to have said “God must love poor people, He made so many of them.”

Thank Gawd he is not an Imam or we would have to hear how “this just proves Islam is of the devil” and “what else can you expect from a Muslim”. But, because he is a Christian minister it is just a one-off, an aberration.

Seems just the opposite to me—you know the “wolf in sheep’s clothing” mentality.

  8. I see he is a graduate of Jerry Falwell’s Liberty University and he is not gay, apparently. That must count for something…
