After the bruising battle for the top opinion blog in past years, our regulars have been planning to prepare for this year’s competition. However, I am sorry to report that as of this morning I have decided to shelve the plans for a Turley Blog Death Star. Due to these lean times of downsizing and layoffs, the Death Star is no longer financially practicable in light of the recent report by Lehigh students that the star will cost $852 quadrillion. With current revenue generation from advertisements at zero, we will have to focus on other methods of seeking a competitive edge against Volokh Conspiracy, Ann Althouse and the rest.
The students concluded that it would require 1.08 x 1015 metric tons of steel to build the Death Star (which we planned to call the Friendship Star for marketing purposes). Based on the world’s current output it would take 833,315 years to produce enough steel and $852,000,000,000,000,000. Of course, I cannot imagine a better jobs bill if Congress were to offer the blog federal assistance.

I could be wrong, but as I have said and will repeat. a simple denial would have been enough. It has been before when I have misunderstood a comment. But you come as usual with insults: Paranoid. Stupid. You will state that you are only stating facts, that is easy now to anticipate. But they are IN FACT ONLY OPINIONS. NO MORE. But that is not so in your mind.
idealist, It seamed to be more of an attack on green energy than you but since you have been the vicitm of other attacks I can see why you might be defensive. Enabling does go on though. “Vengeance Now” has been attacking me lately so the sockpuppet routine is still happening……

My “random attacks” are far from random and not attacks as I see them.
One, they are based on my perception of some fault in that which has been presented by the other person. They follow my perception. Not my humor or other random causes.
Two, they are not attacks, except in cases of joining in the attacks on those whom others are attacking, such as BDAMAN on his climate warming campaign. My comments contain either facts or opinions and no confusion on which it is I am offering. They do not contain personal pejoratives of any sort. So calling them attacks is false labelling.
It I have misjudged the accepted behavioural rules (can’t find the right word) as to acceptable exchange of differences of opinion, then someone could kindly enlightten me. Woosty did re that lawyers did not take kindly to jokes about them or their work. At times my enthusiasm for jest wins over my memory for such reminders. Just yesterday I made such an “error” again, but offered in the same comment that lawyers were in fact saviours of my ass several times in my life, and that they were the wisest and most compassionate of the professions I have encountered That was not directed at anyone, only a reaction to the tales of woe that Malisha and Woosty had offered previously which contained accusations of malfeasance by lawyers, judges, and bureaucrats.
I have from the very beginning after MikeS comment on his life re his heart transplant, which gave me courage to declare my past, and particularly my lack of social training due to being ostracized all my life. I said I was here trying to learn more. Gladly enough the last 3-4 weeks have opened up a new me, but one still in part caught in old habits. But I know I will make mistakes and will need to apologize. And my apologies are real, in spite of GeneH contention to the contrary. Why? Because they come after a discussion without rancour or hard words. No one leaves the encounter after my apology feeling that someone has won or lost. I feel heightened respect from them and to them; and feel that they feel the same.
But if people are offended by me, the answer is easy. TELL ME.
As several have done. Latest it was Woosty who it turned out wanted to agree with what I wrote, but did not want me to regard it as taking part in the argument with GeneH.
If my ways are rude or irritating, then say so, for god’s sake. Don’t go and let it fester. I have too little self-control, that was said repeatedly since the second grade, as I have previously written, as mentioned above. But perhaps others have too much, or they are conflict avoiders, which does not give me the feedback I need. I’m still 3 years old in some ways.

Do you realize that is the first time anyone has offered me that in MY WHOLE LIFE. I am not playing the victim, just revealing who I, yes I, am in this ancient body of 75 years. 6 years ago I said to my new therapist that i felt like a Martian, because I did not understand people, and it all was strange to me, and no one treated me like they did each other.

This isn’t about rank. This is about your repeated unprovoked uncivil behavior. If it were about rank? I’d have just added you to the blacklist. Why? Because that is within the abilities that go with my rank. First, I tried to disuade you from your bad behavior by showing you the futility of it, but that didn’t leave an impression, so now I am openly addressing the matter. If that makes you uncomfortable or makes you feel put upon, tough shit, you should have thought about that before randomly attacking someone again without provocation. My patience with bad behavior is not limitless – I don’t care who you are – and you have more than reached my limit of tolerance. As I said before, this is not a threat. It’s a notification that you’re not fooling anyone with your protestations of victim when it is clearly you instigating the passive-aggressive behavior.

And this is true. Everyone is open to challenge, including me. I get challenged all the time. However, there is a difference between challenge and random unprovked aggression like that which you display. It is a penultimate anti-social/anti-civil behavior. While the arguments here may get rough and tumble, there is a general expectation of civility. A civility which your bad behavior is clearly breaching.
Change your ways or learn to deal with the consequences. That is the heart of my message to you. And like I said, whether you listen or not is entirely up to you.

First, one must discuss the nature of “offense”. As one you’ve tried to offend with your words, id707, you mistake offering offense with taking offense. Your words directly do not offend me because in order for me to take offense, I’d have to care about your opinion of me. However, what I do find offensive are your actions of repeatedly playing the aggressor and then either pleadling down your words and/or playing the victim when called on your actions. As to your apologies? My forgiveness of your words previously directed to me has no bearing to your apologies. When people apologize for doing the same thing over and over again, they are facially useless and meaningless apologies. Any forgiveness from me to you on is due to my thinking you are probably not in complete control of yourself (for whatever reason).
As for clarification, I used to be friends with AY but now we are now just cordial acquaintences. It was a purposeful decision on my part. I have nothing to gain nor seek any favor in coming to his defense on this matter nor was my intervention asked for by AY. As an editor, my interest is in the readability of this blog – something you are starting to negatively impact as a matter of demonstrable fact. However, this recent exchange between you two was a perfect microcosm of the bad behavior on your part we discussed yesterday, id707.
I wasn’t going to sit idly by while you did it again.
If you’re blogging as therapy (as some have suggested offline), you need to realize no one here is suitable to serve as your uneccessary bullshit recepticle or targets for your random aggression. Not even the trolls. People come here for news, entertainment, opinion on topical matters, conversation and/or argument, but they do not come here to be mindlessly and randomly attacked. When you act this way, you are wasting our reader’s time and disrespecting the forum provided. If you just want to attack people randomly and then play victim? Go to wordpress.com and set up your own blog where you can treat guests however you see fit and control their feedback. Because as long as you keep doing that bullshit here, you are going to get push back from the people you attack. In fact, I encourage those you attack to respond in kind.
