Better Red Than Undead? Obama Ad Calls Romney a “Vampire”

We have been discussing how mean=spirited and nasty the presidential campaign has already become on both sides. With Republicans called Obama a socialist and a Muslim, Democrats are saying Romney would not have killed Bin Laden . . . and now that he is vampiric.

The new ad, “Steel” describes GS Technologies, a steel mill in Kansas City, Mo., that was bought by Romney’s private equity firm Bain Capital. One former mill worker says “We view Mitt Romney as a job destroyer, a vampire. They came in and sucked the life out of us.” “Mitt the Job Destroyer” is still better than “Vlad the Impaler” but they seem to be saying that he is both.

The question is how strong the anti-vampire vote is. After all, Obama is no Buffy The Vampire Slayer himself, but then again who is?

Before the Republicans denounce the ad, they should consider that there could be some positive aspects to an undead president for the GOP:

1. They work nights.

2. They truly can take the bite out of crime.

3. They are always taking the pulse of voters.

5. One meeting of the Group of Eight would leave a group of one.

6. The GOP would finally secure the Goth vote.

7. We would finally have a president who is all bite and no bark.

8. Republicans can re-use those “Drill, Baby, Drill” signs.

9. No one is more anti-evolution than a vampire.

10. Perfect for the slogan, “Better Undead than Red.”

  1. BB, You are the first person that I have heard use the word honest to describe Romney. lol

  2. Swarthmore mom, I’ll let what I said speak for itself. You are not asking me if I would prefer Romney, you are asking me if I am a member of the communist party.

  3. Obama promises to correct the tax inequity and then goes on to extend the Bush tax cuts for the rich. Difference? Romney is honest about it.

  4. Swarthmore mom,

Who cares if Romney is a 1% or not?? What does that have to do with the price of Yaks in Alaska? What matters is who can carry the most water for the 1%. Who can move the ball along most effectively for privatizing Social
Security and Medicare? A businessman who is a known creep? Or a nice African American with adorable daughters who happens to be a deadly, ruthless shill for the finance industry and who is highly effective at exploiting his party or neutralizing potential foes in it such as Elizabeth Warren or Eric Schneiderman?

  5. Brooklin, Disagree again. Romney is the top .0001%. Obama may have made a few million selling books, but he is not in Romney’s league. Romney’s tax plans are clearly more favorable to the Swiss bank account crowd.

  6. Swarthmore Mom: If your point is that the election of Romney is preferable to the election of Obama because Romney is afraid, I disagree with that.

My point is that the 1% very much want Obama to win. They will do OK with Romney, they will do fantastically with Obama. Another point is that all this calling Romney a bully is exactly what they want. Boooooo!

Elaine M: Regarding Romney in Massachusetts: It’s hard to be a bully when you’re outnumbered/not bigger than your victim. Absolutely. That’s why Obama is going to do so well with his cat food commission once re-elected. Because unlike Romney, he will not be outnumbered by Democrats who would have to put up resistance against a Republican but have proven over and over again that they will put up no resistance for a Democrat who requests the exact same legislation. And the Democratic politicians that will put up no resistance to Obama represent the victims who will suffer most from the bigger and more effective of the two bullies.

  7. @Matt: If the workers had been allowed to buy the corporation, to become the stockholders and occupy the executive positions, that would fulfill that stage of the situation Marx expected.

I agree, except for one thing: The workers couldn’t afford the corporation. The total price tag was $75M, and there were 750 employees; that would mean each employee would have to come up with $100K in cash, on average, with 100% participation, which itself is very unlikely in a group of 750.

That is just too big of a call (or too big of a risk) for most regular people; which is what steel workers are.

  8. rafflaw,

“When you have military information still classified from the 2nd World War something has to be done to break the wall that separates the truth from the families and the citizens.”

I hope that your family gets every last detail of the information that you’re seeking. I also hope that your mother lives long enough to see it.

  9. Swarthmore,
He is a hero to the 1% who are raping this economy and the country for their own personal gain.

    Brooklin Bridge,

I agree with you about Obama going after whistle blowers.

It’s high time NSA turn its focus away from protecting itself and toward protecting the national security of the United States.” (end of excerpt)
