  1. oh the police can kill us with tasers, and lie about it in court when they have no camera going.
They have become an enemy of the public, they protect their own even when the most heinous of crimes are committed.

They can beat us to death for ‘mouthing off’ and their buddies will protect them. I can say these days this would have gone very differently if cameras were not rolling.

They would have tased hem, beat him, stripped him and killed him. And then they would get off scott free like those cops did in the Chamberlaine case.

  2. BettyKath,

    You are so kind. Really.

As for being literal-minded. Join me and many others.

I’m trying to understand myself and my way of writing. Fear of feeling is one problem, especially when feelings are expressed in simple words which go deeper than an amused mind. So keep to quirky and curlycued disguising the feelings which I fear to feel.

Complicated. Don’t know. You tell me. You’re the first to hear it.

From one of your recent posts, I think it was on charity, I’d say you have an opinion on lots and in spite of being kind, are not afraid to express them.
Something I especially like in a woman.

Women always get a pass on the first go round with me.
Without them where would we be?

Speaking of defending right, we were were we not:
Defending ones right to not be obliged to smile and simper when men speak is a right all women should have.
The worst waa in Japan. Never ranked the others.

  3. 707, Obviously I missed your point about vanilla ice cream. I’m fairly comfortable with all kinds of diversity, including the vanilla kind. I think I need to get in a different mind-set when reading your posts. Being too literal had me missing the point.

  4. Seattle illegally passed a rule that forbad the open carry of handguns in city parks.

  5. “The Right of the People to keep and bear Arms shall not be infringed.”

I don’t see how it can be any more plain than that. The entire encounter with the police in this case could have been lawful if it amounted to no more than this…

Officer: “Excuse me sir, may I talk to you?”
    Citizen: “No”
    Officer” “Have a nice day.”

The voice of the citizen sounds like a guy who asserted his 2nd amendment and 4th amendment rights in another video I saw a little while ago to police who detained him near a beach somewhere.

So the guy has, presumably, a pistol in a holster on his side. So what? He probably also had a wallet in his pocket as well. Both are legal to carry. I don’t see how these two objects are different because in the eyes of the law they are the same status.

Just because it is unusual to carry a gun does not make it illegal. Detentions for unusual events is just another example of arbitrary actions that might not be legal for the state to engage in.

Seattle illegally passed a rule that forbad the open carry of handguns in city parks. I was actually going to drive over there to carry one in a leather holster to enjoy a picnic in the park. But, I then realized I was exempted from the law because at the time I was a commissioned LEO. (I have since retired). So, I guess I would not have had standing to be a “protester” of sorts in the legitimate sense so I didn’t do it. The state took legal action against the city because WA state law preempts nearly all local firearms ordinances by statute. Seattle lost that battle. They knew better but just wanted to grand-stand for political reasons.

  6. Eniobob,

    Apparently I can be of service….. You’re very welcome….

  7. Jay,
I disagree. Anytime you are correctly and reasonably objecting to illegal actions by the police, it is anything but childish. I am not a fan of conceal and carry, but if it is the law, the police cannot make up their own laws to “deal” with a guy wearing a gun.

  8. The policeman and his assisting officer were wired per routine. The call for superior officer was decided centrally by monitoring, which raised the suspicion that this was a “setup” situation. This was no ordinary detainee, that was clear. This was no “I know my rights.” joe Blow.

The officer’s instructions, via the bug in his ear, was to hold until the superior officer could make a judgement. He was not authorized to subdue the detainee.

If a decision had been made to escalate, the assisting officer would have tazed the detainee with a range of false evidence not registered on the camera. The tazing would have resulted in thrashings which would be called violent resistance, probably a felony level since the detainee’s weapon was involved.

What really decided the encounter was the police CCDs watching the scene had detected at least two counter cameras, manned by buddies, tripod mounted, and equipped with both parabolic and gun-pipe distance mikes.

Now I’ll go back and look at it again. Great peppup.

  9. Raff,

What we have is the difference between what they teach in training and application….. I think that but for the camera running….. The result here could have turned out very differently…… Some PDs are obtaining personal video clips for officers to wear while on patrol…. They download into the departments server……

  10. Id707, my Avatar image is all over the internet….so I don’t really know the original author…..but yes, it is lovely indeed! [and very apropos I think…]’
    So Google google google… 🙂

  11. Outstanding video David. I do have to agree with AY that the situation could have gotten very ugly with different officers involved. The citizen handled himself well, but some officers would not have been as “reasonable”, unfortunately.

  12. BettyKath,

I was comparing Sweden to vanilla, a bit too bland for the tastes of many. But Stockholm is beautiful in the summer.

The bit about boys and girls here was a tangent which I stopped before making my point

Assuming contact is desired in a strange land, then was preparing to give advice on what helps here.
    But stopped it incompleted.
