Abused Woman Posts Video of Beating By Boyfriend

This is a disturbing video put on the Internet by a woman who identifies herself Amanda Fong Kim, 19, who says that she was being beaten by a man named Calven Chik Foo Keong — the father of the baby that she says she is carrying. What is most chilling is how this beating occurs next to a door to the street and pedestrians.

This is the message that she attached to the video:

I AM AMANDA FONG KIM YEN, IM 19 YEARS OLD & IM 2MONTHS+ PREGNANT WITH CALVEN CHIK FOO KEONG’S BABY & I’M STANDING UP FOR MYSELF NOW. I WOULD LIKE TO SHARE MY EXPERIENCE WITH ALL OF YOU OUT THERE HOW ABUSIVE MY HUSBAND IS BY BEATING ME UP TERRIBLY & HE HAD BEEN TORTURING ME. I’VE BEEN CRYING HYSTERICALLY, HAVING ABDOMINAL PAINS & TRAUMATIZED BY THIS EXPERIENCED. AS YOU CAN SEE IN THIS VIDEO HE WOULDN’T LET ME OUT FROM THE SHOP EVEN I WENT TO PRESS THE DOOR ACCESS. HE HAS PUT ME UNDER TREMENDOUS PRESSURE, HURT, PAIN & SUFFERING. I CANNOT ENDURE IT ANYMORE LONGER. I’M VERY TIRED OF LIVING THIS MISERABLE LIFE. I HAVE BEEN ACCUSED, SUFFERED FROM HUMILIATION, PHYSICALLY & MENTALLY ANGUISHED. HOW WILL YOU REACT IF YOU WERE IN MY POSITION & IT HAPPENED TO ONE OF YOUR FAMILY MEMBER?

It is also a chilling reminder of the type of violence directed at women . . . and how such violence can occur anywhere at anytime.

What is missing is any indication that the tape was given to police as the basis for charges.

  1. I believe there is probable cause to arrest this man for not only Domestic Violence assault but Kidnapping as well. In the beginning it is clear she wanted to leave and he pulled her back, unlawfully restraining her and whilst doing he assaulted her which in our state would constitute a felony assault. I would also throw in whatever this state’s torture statute is due to him over a period of time placing pain compliance holds on her as well.

This is one example of a situation where a prosecutor’s office can say to him “We’re going to seek the maximum sentence” We will play the video to the jury and most worrisome for you the judge who will hand you your sentence. you can take your chances. There will be no plea bargin.

On the comment of DV against women, any man who assaults a woman is a craven, cowardly dog in my view. I was brought up that and the socialization was as I had as a child was this: you don’t hit women or girls. There is no excuse for doing so.

  2. Nick……. how do we even know this is real???? could be a prank for all we know… well the sad thing about restraining orders most of the time its not worth the paper it’s written on..its sad… arrested many and no matter man or woman they go bail them out the next morning.. yes they do need help but you can’t chain them to go get help they have to take that first step themselves… abuse if sad and some people don’t know how to get help… I have been there also and helped many in need being pryer law enforcement …. why someone would want to stay in an abusive relationship … very hard to understand it…. and yes some woman like living like that seen it….. and its hard …but you can’t force someone or chain them and take them to the doctors… we all make our chooses in life some good and some bad and hopefully we learn from them… some do and some don’t ….. believe me I have made my mistakes in life and learned from them… take care

  3. He’s a very angry man. He wants her to be totally submissive.

In typical abuser fashion, after he beats her he comforts her. “I’m so sorry. I couldn’t help it. You just….blah blah blah. If you just wouldn’t do that. You know I don’t like it when you …blah blah blah. It won’t happen again. Now that I’ve beat the crap out of you so you’ll do what I say, let’s have sex so I can show you how much I love you.”

  4. She’s 19. She’s in an abusive relationship. I couldn’t agree with you more that I would find every way I knew how to ask for help. But at face value here’s what we know: She did what she knew to do, which may not be the wisest choice, but she posted the video on the internet. She tells you she attempted to press the button to release the door lock (if I’m clear that there is a button at the desk, I think you can see her attempts early on) and the video read out time stamp says it’s August 23, 2012, so there hasn’t been time for a divorce decree. Are we to assume she has parents? Are we to assume she doesn’t fear the police? Are we to assume she knows there are social services that will help her? The tone of victim blaming in some of these responses is alarming to me, almost as alarming as the shadows of passers by on the street outside.

  5. Billie, You’re making an assumption and stereotyping abuse victims. Unfortunately, the pathology you describe is real, but certainly doesn’t fit all victims by any means. I’ve helped abuse victims get restraining orders and have seen them bravely call police when those orders were violated.

  6. This is a lovers quarrel gone wrong ! It seems like Amanda had the opportunity to escape most of the time, I hate to think it was a staged movie for the internet, because of the lack of info. She didn’t inform us of the outcome, did she inform authorities her family and did they divorce etc, she only asked for our opinion of the situation seen in the video, and yes it was OUTRAGEOUS if this was the story as we saw it ! And NO we wouldn’t have it happen to our relative, or to Amanda.

  7. This is sad but she had every opportunity to get off that sofa and walk out the door and yell for help… ????? she stays in there with him??? why??? well she is 19 ….young… love hate relationship… he will go to jail and I bet she bails him out… just saying… sad sad sad… see it all the time on the job…

  8. is this a case of one of those mail order brides and the sometime slave like conditions they end up in? Or maybe the selling of a girl by a poor family?

Too bad she doesnt have a couple of big friends who could kick this punks butt.
