Various sites are reporting a bizarre and troubling story that the principal of the Beaumont Independent School District’s Taylor Career and Technology Center in Texas shutdown its adult cosmetology class after concluding that one of the male students looked gay. Principal Thomas Amons is being accused of shutting down the whole program because he allegedly knew he could be charged with singling out the one student on the basis of presumed sexual orientation. An instruction. Amons is a deacon at a Baptist church.
Student Kwmane Gray, 22, (left) reportedly caught the eye of Amons. Instructor Cequada Clark is quoted as saying that “[h]e saw [Kwmane Gray] come into the class, and then he came to get me out of there” and told that Amons did not want him in the class. It appears that Amons was shocked at the appearance of a possible gay person in a cosmetology class. Clark says that she refused. After she went public, Clark says that she was fired.
The backlash has caused the district to announce a new cosmetology class.

Dredd,
In a tribute to you, I would say that microbes are formed in space in a symbiont relationship with stars.
As far as I know, my original theory, not studied by anyone—-yet.
I will explain it, if challenged.
It is cute and wondersome to see how we spring around the hot chestnuts (no pun) of homosexuality (chiefly men’s homosexualiy as usual, men are not concerned traditionally with women’s).
I would venture to say that those who have not come out of the closet should not utter their opinions.
How quiet would it be here?

…
Is that not some odd thing about the cosmos where no one has ever been, not the Moon, but the outer cosmos?
===================================================
Some of you reading this will remember my hypothesis that the “blueberries” on Mars were formed by microbes, not by purely chemical processes.
Scientists find that those spheres of hematite on Earth are very similar to or the same as those on Mars.
Clear evidence has now been published in scientific journals that show that the Earth “blueberries” were in fact formed by microbes (Cosmic Rosetta Stones). A new type of “blueberries” was also found last week that have a different composition than the original hematite blueberries.
Mike S will be interested to know that the NASA scientists who hypothesized and gave evidence that fossilized microbes have been found inside Earth meteorites that came from Mars (ibid).
Cosmetology Class, it’s not just for gays any more.
“Civil rights, not just for straight people anymore.” (lotta)
Wonderful … absolutely wonderful!!
mr ed.
Of course you are right dearie. Puss-puss!
Some commenters above might be belped by reading the original exposé, which was linked from the “restoration of program” link.
It gives a feeling of something gone wild. The principal, previously when attending a cosmetology contest with the class teacher, expressed his anti-gay views. The other point I would like to emphasize is that the certification completion of othere was terminatied by the principals course closure. They had already work in a multi-year program and he leaves
them stranded
And finally, it was obvious that all these students were working hard, doing night school to get somewhere in the world. As one said: “And this is Americal”?

PS as far as gaydar is concerned, the yung man was to be the only one in what I believe from the article was filled only with women, many with children.
Great guy, the deacon. Somebody send him to Jesus for remedial training.
Question….. If he’s gay….. How does the deacon know….. Was he using craigslist again….. I wonder if a woman shows too much breast or too short of a skirt…. Or too much makeup or too high heel shoe…… Will they have to brandish the letter “A”……. Poor Heather…….
I’ve been told that the best gaydar belongs to those who are gay, out or closeted. Could this be true?
Since it’s Texas I wonder what would have happened if he joined the football team?
The second link in the article (beginning with “backlash has caused…”) led to:
BISD press releases have stated the original program was closed after the second day of class due to lack of funding…The Examiner has requested information from BISD as to how much financial support was required from the district to administer the original program, but according to district spokesperson Ron Reynolds, that information is not yet available.
Now if there is anything a person can call BS on this is one of them. If it actually was apparent the program needed to be closed due to lack of funds wouldn’t they have to actually know what that dollar amount was before answering the funding question? Then, they claim they don’t have the dollar amount available when asked by the press. What a bunch of nonesense.
I liked how the legal advisor of the district stated they could not deny one student admission to the program but did not seem to stop the closure of the program to accomplish the same thing. Bad advice, if it was actually given.
I would say the budget will certainly be an issue after the section 1983 action is filed against the district.
Beaumont – – – Texas. Nuff said.
Tony – I have not been able to decide if Ratty is the worst troll ever on this blog or a really clever comic.
It is too scarey to thing someone this stupid would have unmonitored Internet access so I have to assume comic
@Ratty: Cosmetology is a job, dufus, not a religion. Shouldn’t we be spending public money to train people for the jobs they want? In high school, to at least introduce them to the tools and concepts and safety protocols, so they can see if they are interested enough to go on to a trade school?
It is an investment, becoming a trained professional of any kind results in higher pay, and that results in more taxes, more self-sufficiency, and becoming less of a burden on society.
You do realize this was a Career Center?
OMG!!1! TEH GA-HAYS IN COSMETOLOGY?!!1!??
Thats unheard of! How could such a thing even be possible? It certainly must never be allowed!!!11
Times like these I’m reminded of a bible verse:
John 11:35
Jesus wept.
“He looketh gay mon capitano … hide the cosmetics …”
Why are they spending money on cosmetology anyway? Is that not some odd thing about the cosmos where no one has ever been, not the Moon, but the outer cosmos? A bit strange to spend public money on that. Kind of like Scientology. Or Mormonism. Or gastrointestinalism. Or fart contests.
I must ask Zarathrusta, what dos a forking christain do with the fork?
The teacher got fired for going public. Perhaps the Principal (none dare call a principal a Pal) needs to get fired for going private.
Must be another one of Geebus’ forking christains………….
Principal Thomas Amons is going to cost his district dearly, hope it was worth it. One wonders why he’s so sensitive to the possibility of ‘teh gay’- or maybe not.
Civil rights, not just for straight people anymore.
That principal should be fired on the spot. He is disgusting and stupid. I sure hope his Gaydar was correct. I smell a lawsuit.
