13,000,000

Thirty minutes ago, our blog passed the 13,000,000 view mark. The fact that we passed 12 million recently shows how fast the blog continues to grow. Congratulations everyone.

We are expanding at a remarkable rate not just in the United States but abroad. In the last twenty four hours, our five biggest international participants became from England, Canada, Australia, Sweden, and India (in that order with England as the number one contributing country).

I wanted to thank our weekend bloggers: David Drumm, Mark Esposito, Gene Howington, Michael Spindell, Eliane Magliaro, Mike Appleton, and Larry Rafferty. I wanted to particularly thank our contributors. This blog offers a unique mix of views from people committed to civil discussion of the major issues of our time. While we often disagree, we offer a place for reasonable and respectful debate. I am incredibly grateful to all of our regulars. In the last 24 hours, the most active commentators were Idealist707, Matt Johnson, Nick Spindelli, Malisha, Dredd, Elaine M, and Darren Smith.

Thanks everyone and congratulations on reaching another milestone!

  1. And … I can’t remember if I told you but the youngest one had her final post-op checkup (remember she was the one who had the 14 hour open heart surgery at 1 year of age) and everything is 100%. She will be able to do everything, even train for the Olympics if she so desires, without restrictions.

I admit, I cried when her cardiologist gave us the good news.

  2. Elaine,

😉 … as long as you promise not to tell anybody … I am able to …

The kids finalized the sale on a new house less than a 1/2 mile from us. We are thrilled to have the youngest one as close as the older ones are.

How are your house plans progressing?

  3. Woosty, Malisha, et al,

The Almond Torte heavenly. I have to make it for everything. I made two this week, one for a gathering of friends and the second one for my son-in-law’s birthday party. I can do it in my sleep.

  4. Otteray,

“I don’t get to read all the comments due to time constraints, so may have overlooked some comments, but speaking of women, where is Anon Nurse? I have missed her voice around here lately.”

I have missed Anon Nurse too.

  6. Congratulations Professor and congratulations to all of those whose comments have made this forum what it is. Finally, thank you for giving myself and the other guest bloggers an opportunity to contribute. A special thanks to the women contributors, whose numbers have grown through the years and helped make this special place reflective of so many points of view.

  8. “Here’s a cross-post from the “popcorn lung” thread.
It is dead since long ago there, but there are three major points I make—especially in regard to our chase for justice and control of our government, ie forcing it to do what it claims it is doing.

No ones reading or responding anymore.

But I think we missed three big points here.

One. Some feel that this is an example of the “tort” problem taxing America’s bla bla businesses. I don’t agree.

Two. It is an example of how we the people can be compensated for the mistreatment, etc. visited upon us by powers from which we otherwise may not expect compensation.

Three. I would like to see the day come when we see the responsible agencies, OSHA in this case, on the defendant list, and not just companies and manufacturers.

Again, since it will be the only way for us to effect those from whom we may not otherwise claim accountability.

I would enjoy seeing how this could be used as a steering instrument on agencies. Bureau chiefs are easily replaced, funding likewise. Bureaus have an enormous power to oppose reform.

CIA again is a excellent example. Even, in the CIA case, pouring billions on the problem (for ex post-9/11) does not effect ANY change.

I will cross post this in the hope of it reaching some eyes here at Turley’s.

  9. What Woosty and Blouise said. Also, congratulations to gene for his blogs and the other heavy lifting he has done here.

  10. Congrats to Jonathan and all the faithful bloggers! It is my privilege to drop by the house and visit for awhile.

  11. Elaine,

What Woosty said … and the forever yummy almond cake which I just took to another gathering!
