Iran Cleric Learns The Benefit Of Covering Up

-Submitted by David Drumm (Nal), Guest Blogger

In the rural Iranian town of Shahmirzad, Muslim cleric Hojatoleslam Ali Beheshti encountered two girls on his way to the local mosque for noon prayers. The cleric confronted the two girls and admonished one of them to cover herself more completely. “She responded by telling me to cover my eyes, which was very insulting to me,” Beheshti said.

He repeated his demand for the girl to cover up and the two girls gave the cleric a boxing lesson he won’t soon forget.

Beheshti emerged from the infirmary three days later.

The article states that:

The girls may have put the “jab” into “hijab,” but fighting with morality police or private individuals telling women to cover up is rare in small towns. It’s more common in larger cities, where women are more likely to take a stand.

When religion has the power of the state behind it, standing up to the religious police takes a lot of courage.

Idealist, you say, “Thus the “persecuted” male (Rush et al) who can not live with an co-equal female in equanimity may possibly have cause to complain.”

No he doesn’t. He doesn’t have “cause to complain.” He does have a discernible (although idiotic) reason for his irritating whining, though. Here’s what I have to say to him about that: See here, if you can’t be a man without women WORSHIPPING YOU and giving up (in deference to the tender feelings of Your Worship) their own right to get what THEY want, then as women increasingly stop worshipping men, you may end up losing some of what you thought was your manhood. Get over it.

Or don’t. Who cares? You’re offended that penis size is decreasing? Well that’s really high on my list of things to worry about…NOT.

Let’s see. Is the housekeeper a co-equal female. Mr. Rush, I will go to Tijuana and get your Oxycontin (Oxycodone) for you.

  2. One thing that does worry me is the finding that leaves in the Blue Ridge Mountains have been getting smaller over the past several decades. Longitudinal studies by botanists from some of the area universities have determined that tree leaves are getting smaller. They blame increasing pollution of air and water. Those are man-made factors.

I have read a little bit about fish in England being mostly female due to estrogen levels in the water from birth control pills. the estrogen is excreted in urine and cannot be treated at waste water treatment plants. Probably some of that going on in the US.

  5. My Iranian sometimes helper is going home for a while to Iran. If you got any questions, I can ask her tomorrow.

I have described her before as a very very smart girl, has worked since she was 12 on her own initiative, is
furthering her education and is still in contact with her culture, and fully integrated here.

Her mom encouraged to take this job as a way of learning about how life is for others. One year. I presume she will go back to college soon.
