“Above the Law” is extremely popular among lawyers as a site that covers the inside scandals and controversies of the profession from the grand to the gossip of the bar. We are also again up against the largest conservative blog, Volokh Conspiracy. We have previously beaten Volokh Conspiracy despite the larger size and large group of law professors as contributors. This year, we are larger and, according to AVVO, we are usually 10th in the world in terms of viewers. Volookh Conspiracy is listed as 8th in the latest ranking. Above the Law is generally listed as first or second. We also have a number of equally large sites, including BLT — the site for Legal Times. We are also up against Judge Richard Posner in his blog, the Posner-Becker blog as well as the Wall Street Journal Legal blog. They are all excellent blogs and it is a honor to be included in their company.
Our blog is described as follows:
Posting sometimes several times a day, George Washington University law professor Jonathan Turley (and guest bloggers) offers immediate, provocative commentary on the news of the day. Observations aren’t always related to con law or legal theory. But posts on- and off-topic are well-written, engaging and thought-provoking.
This is always a fun competition, win or lose.
Good luck to all of the blogs this year and thank you ABA Journal.
