MEET LUNA TURLEY

Picture 1320I would like to introduce the newest member of the Turley family, Luna Turley, our golden doodle puppy. A few pictures from this morning are below.

The toughest thing proved to be the name selection and we really appreciated the help of from the blog. In both polls, three names consistently dominated Pepper, Scout, and Luna. In the final vote tally, Pepper and Luna took 72 percent of the vote with Pepper the slight favorite. I personally like Scout and Pepper more. So did the three boys that I took to the Allegheny Mountains to pick up the puppy. However, when the breeder, Barbara, brought out the puppy, they all said almost in unison, “she’s looks like a Luna.” The kids then formed a unified voting block with their two cousins from Florida who are visiting to pick Luna. Of course, Luna has kept us up for the last two nights but we adore her. She loves to be outside — probably from being raised on a barn for her first eight weeks — and particularly likes to bury herself in bushes in the backyard. She is already eight pounds and is expected to be a large size dog.

We really enjoyed following the blog discussion. The whole family would read the comments. Some of the alternative names produced considerable debate, particularly Mora (Italian for blackberry). However in the end, first impressions carried the day with Luna which is Latin for Moon. She is very dark in color with what looks like a small white Moon on her chest.

Thanks again everyone for the help.

  1. Congatulations to the Turley Family. she is so adorable. to the point i made the mistake of reading the blog with my 10 yr old here of course she saw Lunas Pic and now is pouting because she wants one now instead of once we mouth south where we will have a yard for a puppy to run around in…

    BLESS YOU ALL.

  2. A house is not a home without a dog! Luna is a little beauty. I have found that pet names are often subject to “interpretation” as my grand dog, Gizmo, is often called Mr. Baloney Head! My cat, Soufy, was referred to as Lambsauce…whatever that means but it just came out of my mouth one day! Miss Luna Turley, you are a fortunate puppy to have the Turleys to wrap around you paw!

  3. Welcome Luna! What a beautiful girl. Love her peeking out from the plants. Live long and prosper Luna and her loving family.

  4. Now I see how the super electoral college really works…. I supported Luna …. So it didn’t change my results…. But…. Just sayin……. If Burr had had a few more vote he would have been president over Jefferson…. If I recall correctly….

  5. Full Moon Luna. Get her a Dogalogue Machine so that she can chimn in on the blog. Equal rights for equal dogs.

  6. Congratulations Professor Turley! She is beautiful. I’m partial to the black dogs and have a black Lab myself (no doodle included, alas) and could not have wished a better outcome for you and your family. Enjoy your new best friend! Luna fits, and the kids know it, don’t they?

  7. Dear Luna,

Please remind Benjamin (an excellent photographer) that we blog posters would appreciate Luna pictures visually chronicling your antics over the next few months as you train the Turley family.

  8. I still say you should have gone with Madison. It could be her middle name. Luna Madison Turley

  9. Absolutely adorable.

Congratulations on the new addition to Clan Turley!

  10. Congrats to the Turley clan and for all the voters for “Luna.” Please take note that we were given several choices in a primary, and 3 choices in the general election. All you duopoly folks, was that so hard or scary???

  11. congratulations to you and your family, Professor Turley. You and your family mourned Molly a respectful period of time. but it was obviously time you moved on. and from wherever Molly is, she is smiling down on you and happy for you & your family. at least I prefer to view it that way.

my very best to you and yours. you all deserve it you been through a hard time.

    love, Maggie Ringland
