Many civil libertarians around the world have rallied to support Clare Daly, Irish Parliament member of the United Left Alliance representing Dublin, after she challenged the prime minister and the reception given to President Barack Obama who she called a war criminal. The video of the speech is below. Daly called Obama the “hypocrite of the century” for lecturing children on peace while expanding drone attacks and funding civil wars around the world. Many in the United States particularly took note of her attack on the type of cult of personality surrounding Obama that seems detached from his horrendous record on civil liberties, privacy, and international law.
Daly noted that it is not just the government but the media fueling this cult of personality — spending endless time on what the Obamas were ordering for lunch rather than discussing his authoritarian policies. She is the former Socialist Party Teachta Dála (TD) for the Dublin North constituency but resigned from the Socialist Party and joined the United Left Alliance TD.
Daly is being attacked as immature and radical in her comments.

The Obama supporters are a different breed from any prior presidents really.
People defend Obama because they are members of a cult. Ive never seen anything like it. He could kill a million people tuesday and theyd still support him. He is everything his supporters hated Bush for and he does it all ten times worse than Bush did and they still love him for it.

Well, what she said, needed to be said. Everyone else is, as she said, to busy pimping themselves for a pat on the head.
It was particularly important, as a national public pulpit, and it is coming from a western nation who is otherwise our ally.
I agree with the tenor and scope of what she said, if not all the details, and that tenor illustrates in plain relief that Obama is a pretty face, on an ugly agenda.

This video should be seen by every American. She was wonderful in it. She has far more courage and integrity than most every one of our politicians.
It is a shame that this is what leaders of foreign governments think of our president. It is also a shame that she is not crazy. If she had said these same things about Bush no one would have said a word. A sad day for America.

I agree with her. He is a war criminal and he is a hypocrite. Actually I am not sure I would even call him hypocrite as much as deceitful, lying, manipulative. He truly is an evil individual. So much deception and betrayal.
