We recently discussed the Indian courts reinstating the criminalization of homosexuality in that country. Now, the Indian National League, a Muslim political party, has reportedly launched a public campaign calling for all homosexuals to be killed under the nation’s death penalty. The posters appearing around the country also claims that freedom of expression is being abused by gays and lesbians in advocating their cause. This story has appeared on a couple of gay rights sites covering India but has not appeared in the mainstream press.
The Muslim party is capital punishment is the only punishment fitting gays and lesbians and quotes the Quran that “if a society does not destroy the evils in it, it will inevitably bear its consequences.” Thus, they want to kill thousands of people for loving people of their own gender.
The attack on free speech is telling. There continues to be a fundamental disconnect in the understanding of free speech between the United States and various Muslim allies. For many years, I have been writing about the threat of an international blasphemy standard and the continuing rollback on free speech in the West. For recent columns, click here and here and here. The Obama Administration has supported effort to develop a standard for the criminalization of speech with Muslim countries who view criticism of Islam to be blasphemy and an abuse of free speech.
The fate of gays and lesbians in India remains an acute international concern. However, the continued advocacy of the death penalty for homosexuals in the name of faith reflects with growing divide with some of our closest allies.

Yep. And some of your best friends are queer right?
The problem lies in generalizations. Some gay folks may be “perverts”. Most are not. Some poor people may be lazy. Most are not. Some Muslims may be violent. Most are not. Some rich people may be greedy. Most are not.
I believe David to be his own man, despite my disagreeing with him on most issues, and won’t be drawn in by Spinelli’s manipulations.
DavidM, See what I mean!
Spinelli’s behavior here on this very blog is an indication that what he is attempting to accuse me of, is precisely what he engages in here on this very blog. His presence is barely tolerated here and in thanks for his many close calls with being banned, he continues this egregious behavior.
Nick seems to be violating the privacy rules once again by making some sort of erroneous allegation against me, based on OFF SITE writings on other blogs. He thinks he is being slick, but all who post here seem to have his number and it is,1-800 horseshit. I would again ask those who are decision makers here to add his comment here onto the very long list he has racked up.
“I am sure that nobody in India objects to people loving people of their own gender. ”
Right. Just the ones calling for it. No one else. Turn a blind eye much?
David, Stare into those eyes and then reconsider responding. You gotta enough folks on your a$$, you don’t need this one, BELIEVE ME!! Just sayn’.
David, are you saying that homosexuals are not guilty of anything until they actually engage in sex with someone of their own gender? Certainly you aren’t saying it okay to kill them then. Of course you probably think they will pay for their “sin” in eternity. Amiright?
What bothers me more than a society instituting the death penalty for what they deem to be seriously inappropriate sexual behavior is representing the issue in the following way: “they want to kill thousands of people for loving people of their own gender.”
I am sure that nobody in India objects to people loving people of their own gender. To engage in dialogue in this fashion is just wrong.
Muslims…… wake up your Prophet Mohammed…. was a Pedophile!!! One of his wives was 8 years old!
Let members of Indy is Muslim party… drink the waters of the Ganges and then die!
Reblogged this on Brittius.com.
Dear Alain, I am sorry for you that you are so painfully insecure about your sexuality, but trying to prop up your masculinity by claiming a bunch of homophobic urban myths actually happened to you is just pathetic. No one believes you.
Must everything be a death penalty with these guys?
I just want them to leave me alone when I try to use a public restroom. Killing them would not be very Christian but I did put one in the hospital for grabing my crotch at a bus stop in San Fransisco about ten years ago. His friends decided they didnt want any after they saw how quick I knocked out there leader. My brother is queer so Ive been around it all my life. He is my older brother and he has been a good for nothing parasite his whole life. He has killed numerous partners with his aids virus yet last time I talked to him he was bragging about all the unprotected anonymous bathroom sex he was still having. I dont know what you do with them but keep them the hell away from me. The media is trying to portray them as virtuos victims now but when you get to know them you find that most of them have no moral compass just like my big brother. Thank God I dont live in San Francisco anymore, its the most beautiful City in the country but it’s a cesspool of degenerates . Good ridance.
“You can’t run a country
By a book of religion
Not by a heap
Or a lump or a smidgeon
Of foolish rules
Of ancient date
Designed to make
You all feel great
While you fold, spindle
And mutilate”
Frank Zappa, Dumb All Over
Or as that famous Indian philosopher Siddhartha Gautama (Buddha) might say, “Death? Really? That’s what you’re going with?”
Time for people to start leaving India. Disgusting.
Its a religion of peace and love! How dare your criticize……..
What vile proposal. Unfortunately we have plenty of Christians who advocate this kind of law in countries where they think they will get traction. As a result, it is not just the Muslims who are willing to kill any one with whom they disagree including but not limited to gay individuals and uppity women. The fact the Obama and the Dems are happy to support blasphemy laws drafted by Muslum fanatics is as disturbing as it is predictable in view of Obama’s track record.
Religion and government a deadly combination; hazardous to humans.
