  1. Yet some labels impede arguments instead of further them. The label you gave GWB does not taint your concerns to the same degree as the one you gave President Obama in an earlier post. Describing President Obama as a fraud, a liar, and a disappointment are all defensible and non-inflammatory the way your label was. Also, if Obama is essentially equivalent to GWB to you, his skin color should be just as irrelevant as Bush’s was. It is their choices, policies, and behavior that actually affect us.

I will repeat: using racist terms just fuels the fire that all those who oppose him are racists and that they have no real concerns. Wouldn’t you rather people take your concerns seriously?

  2. ” It’s apparent what language like that says about your character.”

And my own. Sigh. I should not have gone that far. I should have restricted my comment to the issue and not made it personal. Sorry.

  3. Smiling Atheist,
“My language discribing our ‘Resident’ stems from my massive disappointment in the man……”

Many here are massively disappointed in him yet refrain from calling him derogatory names. I will not quibble with you that he is a liar. I, too, am angry with him and his presidency. He deceived those who voted for him in a massive betrayal of principle, so your fury is understandable. Your ire is apparent, however, without the need to use racist terms.

Using racist terms just fuels the fire that all those who oppose him are racists and that they have no real concerns. The man ought to be impeached and I’m concerned that he won’t be because legitimate concerns like his choosing to ignore the separation of powers, kill lists, extra-judicial killing of Americans, etc etc won’t be taken seriously because those concerns will get over-shadowed by the false picture that all his opposition is just a bunch of racists.

  4. Smiling Atheist–
Your word choice for the president is offensive and a distraction from the issues at hand. It’s apparent what language like that says about your character.

  5. Latest from Snowden: “The list of those caught up in the global surveillance net cast by the National Security Agency and its overseas partners, from social media users to foreign heads of state, now includes another entry: American lawyers.

A top-secret document, obtained by the former N.S.A. contractor Edward J. Snowden, shows that an American law firm was monitored while representing a foreign government in trade disputes with the United States. The disclosure offers a rare glimpse of a specific instance in which Americans were ensnared by the eavesdroppers, and is of particular interest because lawyers in the United States with clients overseas have expressed growing concern that their confidential communications could be compromised by such surveillance. ”

  6. I used to trust Obama. Now I’m no longer a democrat. I’ve seen way too many educated Obama supporters continue to support him even tho he has continued the Bush policies the American people don’t want. I admit that I was fooled by Obama. Obama sold out. Anyone who takes money from corporations to run their campaign will sell out too.

White People are afraid to call Obama out on what he has done to America because he is black. Those who do will be called racists.

Black people follow him blindly because he is black.

We are a people divided. Divide and conquer.
