MSNBC Host: “Keep It Right Here On Morning Jew”

200px-Sigmund_Freud_LIFE220px-Mika_BrzezinskiWe have another addition to our series “Perils of the Press.” There are Freudian Slips and then there are Freudian falls from a high cliff. The later seems of a more apt description of MSNBC’s Mika Brzezinski mistake this morning. After interviewing Israel’s Ambassador to the United States Ron Dermer, Brzezinski said “keep it right here on Morning Jew.”

I honestly hope that people are not too hard on Brzeninski. Such slips have happened to all of us and often tend to be funny, if somewhat embarrassing. When hosts like Brzeninski are juggling scripts and interviews, I am more surprised that such slips do not happen more often.

Freudian slips are actually called parapraxis and thought to be a mistake in speech that reflects some “dynamically repressed” thought. As a juris doctor, I would diagnosis a simple close pronunciation of “Joe” and “Jew” but then again I have so many Freudian slip and falls that I could keep an army of analysts busy for centuries. I once introduced a person who caught me at a speech with a long tirade against the legal system named Coring as “Mr. Boring.” To his credit, even he got a good laugh from that one as my face turned a bright red.

Do you have any good slips to confess?

Personally, I have better things to worry about. Sooo, you ‘ll get no kudos from me. Your way of seeing things is morally messed up.

Someone has to care about the innocent being murdered…
… seeing that you have better things to worry about.

I still haven’t gotten a clear answer from you:
HOW is rooting for another person’s death and destruction a moral position to be in especially since the majority that are being killed are innocent people that you have no issue with in their deaths?

I don’t know that you can moralize it, rationally.
If you do want to reference WWII… HITLER rationalized it as much!

Do you weep for German kids who were collateral damage in WWII???

    STRAWMAN

Is this WWII and is Germany under siege?
    Explain relevancy, please.

“Sick” is when you can ‘t figure out who the bad guys are in this. Do you weep for German kids who were collateral damage in WWII??? Personally, I have better things to worry about. Sooo, you ‘ll get no kudos from me. Your way of seeing things is morally messed up. Go move to Israel and dodge a few bombs. I bet you get re -moralized real quickly.

  4. Squeeky,
It speaks about moral character to feel joy in another person’s death and destruction… The children… You wish for their deaths too? Sick!

“I would submit that were this gang of murderers lobbing missiles at you and your family, you would quickly lose all the moral ambivalence nonsense.”

My humanity would never find Justice in killing innocent people.
Why argue for the alternate? Who does that?

  6. Squeeky…
Israel or Jews. Make up your mind girl.
Jews are found all over the globe and many do NOT support Israel.
Israel is a nation that is currently attacking a population the Israeli government put into an encampment and locked them in. Hamas is the co-elected Palestinian government and does not even have a fully functioning military to defend themselves with…

Go figure. Stir up FEAR of dead JEWS… this is what you get: Bigoted based FEARS!

  7. How Israel Helped to Spawn Hamas
    http://online.wsj.com/news/articles/SB123275572295011847

Surveying the wreckage of a neighbor’s bungalow hit by a Palestinian rocket, retired Israeli official Avner Cohen traces the missile’s trajectory back to an “enormous, stupid mistake” made 30 years ago.

“Hamas, to my great regret, is Israel’s creation,” says Mr. Cohen, a Tunisian-born Jew who worked in Gaza for more than two decades. Responsible for religious affairs in the region until 1994, Mr. Cohen watched the Islamist movement take shape, muscle aside secular Palestinian rivals and then morph into what is today Hamas, a militant group that is sworn to Israel’s destruction.

  8. UNRWA STRONGLY CONDEMNS ISRAELI SHELLING OF ITS SCHOOL IN GAZA AS A SERIOUS VIOLATION OF INTERNATIONAL LAW
    http://www.unrwa.org/newsroom/official-statements/unrwa-strongly-condemns-israeli-shelling-its-school-gaza-serious

Last night, children were killed as they slept next to their parents on the floor of a classroom in a UN designated shelter in Gaza. Children killed in their sleep; this is an affront to all of us, a source of universal shame. Today the world stands disgraced.

We have visited the site and gathered evidence. We have analysed fragments, examined craters and other damage. Our initial assessment is that it was Israeli artillery that hit our school, in which 3,300 people had sought refuge. We believe there were at least three impacts. It is too early to give a confirmed official death toll. But we know that there were multiple civilian deaths and injuries including of women and children and the UNRWA guard who was trying to protect the site. These are people who were instructed to leave their homes by the Israeli army.

    1. Max-1 – here is the second finding of Hamas rockets in a UN school, which was between 3000 displaced people.

  9. Sorry to distract everyone with a story that is (sort of) about Freud. Years ago my wife and I took my father on a farewell tour of Europe. In his 80’s at the time, dad would frequently “out party” both of us, staying up to the wee hours of the morning.

The first night we were in Vienna dad hung out at the hotel bar late into the evening, talking at first to the piano player and then to others. (He spoke fluent German. ) This scene repeated itself every evening we were there. He bragged to us how he never paid for a single drink our entire stay. But he did not tell us how he got his drinks for free.

We found out later that he told the piano player that he was the illegitimate son of Sigmund Freud. The piano player told others, and soon everyone in the bar couldn’t wait to get advice from him in return for buying him a drink. We found this after a hotel guest came up to my wife and I when we were with dad and said he thought it was great that my dad was Freud’s illegitimate son.

The Israeli leaders do not have the luxury of playing stupid on who and what Hamas is. If they do, there are real consequences, that is, dead Jews. I would submit that were this gang of murderers lobbing missiles at you and your family, you would quickly lose all the moral ambivalence nonsense. If you are truly unable to figure out who the bad guys are here, you need to start over.

Chicken and egg this is not!
    Which came first?
Occupation and walled in… Or tunnels?

  12. Terror Tunnels… Another b.s. Line.
How come Egypt was able to shut them down without resorting to leveling 40% of Gaza? Israel should take notes…

    1. Max-1 – this may seem a fine point but Hamas is not firing rockets into Egypt. And, not all patriots are terrorists. That is a sleazy ploy to equate patriots with terrorists. Still, for your information, civilians were killed, starved, arrested, etc. during the American Revolution.
