Report: Justice Department May Shutdown Zimmerman Civil Rights Investigation . . . quietly

zimmermantrayon-martin-picture1When the Obama Administration sent in a team to investigate civil rights violations in the 2012 shooting death of Trayvon Martin, some of us expressed doubt over the basis for such a charge as well as the timing of the federal move into the case. Indeed, I was highly skeptical of how the case was charged and prosecuted. Now the Washington Post is reporting that, after two years of investigation, Justice officials do not believe that they have sufficient evidence to bring federal charges.

George Zimmerman was acquitted of second-degree murder and manslaughter in a state trial in Sanford, Fla., last year. Various community and political leaders demanded that Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. bring a federal civil rights case against him. The protests led to considerable pressure for the Obama Administration to act and the investigation by the Civil Rights Section helped quell some of the discontent over the verdict. However, the case remained weak for both a second-degree murder case as well as a civil rights charge. While many read racist motivations behind Zimmerman motives, Zimmerman succeeded in establishing that he was acting in self-defense.

The Administration has also taken the same quick response to the shooting in Ferguson, though that investigation is centering on the police department as a whole.

    That is a great depiction of the members of the bully religion who have, like a virus, entered establishment religion and government institutions.

    They, like toxoplasma gondii, sever sane cognitive circuits and rewire the circuitry so that the cognition changes:

A small literature is coming out now reporting neuropsychological testing on men who are Toxo-infected, showing that they get a little bit impulsive… And then the truly astonishing thing: two different groups independently have reported that people who are Toxo-infected have three to four times the likelihood of being killed in car accidents involving reckless speeding… Maybe you take a Toxo-infected human and they start having a proclivity towards doing dumb-ass things that we should be innately averse to, like having your body hurdle through space at high G-forces. Maybe this is the same neurobiology… On a certain level, this is a protozoan parasite that knows more about the neurobiology of anxiety and fear than 25,000 neuroscientists standing on each other’s shoulders…

  4. Elaine, I’ve been here 2 years. I don’t watch Hannity. Said that many times. You and your ilk are so tedious and predictable. Someone criticizes Obama, and it’s “Yeah but Bush.” Someone criticizes MSNBC and it’s “Yeah but Fox.” It is grammar school, “I know you are but what am I.” Neither Bashir or Hannity are mainstream. Step up your game, if able.

    Fed going in, to a racially charged dynamic, with Holder as USAG;
    was actually a smart (administrative) move to quell the surge of uprisings.

    On the GZ case, I think the gal intentionally – overcharged – in order to appease the pro SYG lobby; and cries for justice.

  14. The investigation was just to appease people who would not accept the jury verdict. The incompetent and immoral prosecutor who withheld exculpatory evidence should have been investigated. If you didn’t like the verdict, she’s where to direct your anger. Same w/ OJ. I don’t think the OJ prosecutors were immoral, just woefully incompetent.

    The separation of church and state doesn’t mean “the government cannot favor religion over non-religion,” Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia argued during a speech at Colorado Christian University on Wednesday, according to The Washington Times.

    Defending his strict adherence to the plain text of the Constitution, Scalia knocked secular qualms over the role of religion in the public sphere as “utterly absurd,” arguing that the Constitution is only obligated to protect freedom of religion — not freedom from it.

    “I think the main fight is to dissuade Americans from what the secularists are trying to persuade them to be true: that the separation of church and state means that the government cannot favor religion over non-religion,” the Reagan-appointed jurist told the crowd of about 400 people.

    “We do Him [God] honor in our pledge of allegiance, in all our public ceremonies,” the conservative Catholic justice continued. “There’s nothing wrong with that. It is in the best of American traditions, and don’t let anybody tell you otherwise. I think we have to fight that tendency of the secularists to impose it on all of us through the Constitution.”

  19. And what does Al Sharpton and the World know about Zimmerman and his actions which has not been publicized so that we on the blog would not know about it? I have heard nothing which would justify a civil rights criminal prosecution against Z. Or some civil rights civil suit against Z. Or some civil rights civil suit against the town where the shooting occurred. Z is both Hispanic and Jewish. He has some civil rights status here as well as the decedent. Dirt gets thrown on Z daily. What underlies the animosity which we hear about Z? Huh? What do those broad minded Floridians think about Z? What do you broad minded humans in America think about Florida? How come Florida makes the news on this blog every day? What is it about that shaved headed Governor of Florida which makes him so ugly in public?
