One of the stories making the news here in Italy is the arrest of Daniela Poggiali, 42, a nurse who is accused of killing at least 38 of her patients because she found them or their relatives to be annoying. She was initially charged in the death of an elderly patient and now police believe that she is a serial killer.
The case of Rosa Calderoni draw attention of the authorities because she been admitted for a routine illness and when she died there were high levels of potassium in her bloodstream. At least 10 other deaths are now being listed as “very suspicious”.
Prosecutor Rossella Materia called her a sadist who “who draws pleasure in provoking the death of the patients in her care.” One picture on her phone reportedly shows her giving a thumbs up next to when of her patients who had died seconds before. The public statements are an interesting dimension since Italy prosecutes people for criminal libel, as in the abusive case against the parents of Amanda Knox that we discussed earlier. While comments against the police can bring a charge, it clearly does not apply when prosecutors make such comments against individuals.
Even a colleague described her as a “cold person who was always eager to work.” This included the allegation from a co-worker that Poggiali would give patients strong laxatives at the end of her shift to make work more difficult for the nurses taking over.
Poggiali told police that she is innocent and the victim of a conspiracy by her enemies.
The case could prove very difficult given the length of time that has passed.

Annie seems to be either defending herself or pointing out the double standard. No one had really gone after Darren except to lament his continuing the double standard, but maybe he doesn’t see it.

MikeA, I can tell you Paul Schulte is who he says he is. I comment on other blogs as Nick Spinelli or ndspinelli. I do not use aliases. People here have checked me out. That’s fine w/ me. People have checked to see if I am indeed a PI. I am fairly certain my teaching credentials have been checked out. I know someone checked out if I worked for Clausen Miller in Chicago. People here know where I was born, the different places I’ve lived, my professions, my wife’s books, my son is adopted from Colombia, etc. I AM AN OPEN BOOK. A person here has monitored Tweets[that’s Twitter you old fart!!] between myself and @ least 2 other commenters here and inserted herself using another name. MikeA, I love this blog. I have enormous respect for JT, and you as well. I enjoy many of the people here. I ignore people who attack me. There is so much information I, and others, could give you from other venues. But, sufficed to say, this pathology is identical to @ least 3 other venues. We have a drama queen of biblical proportions, Mike. This is deja vu for about 5-6 others of us. 19 aliases here, more than that in the other venues, it is all documented. I came to this blog because of my respect for JT. I show my respect for him. The reason my stalker came here is in the archives, RIP Lou Reed 11/3/13 @ 12:55pm. I came here out of love and respect. That initial comment tells you my stalkers motivation.
Finally, Darren Smith is the rock of this blog. He works tirelessly. The scorn he has received is reprehensible. I told JT I would take the hits while he was gone so as to make it easy on Darren and himself. Darren has shown INCREDIBLE restraint. But, here’s what sickens me. No weekend blogger has given him any respect or support during the pernicious attack on this blog. Well, many of us commenters have. For chrissake, Darren is the most calm, temperate, gracious person here. You’re a close second. What the hell is going on?? Darren has earned and deserves much better.

I wonder if the problem may be fundamentalism??? Because unlike a lot of people believe, fundamentalism is not just something for religious people like the snake handlers. It also afflicts people on a political basis. At its heart, fundamentalism is a kind of obsessive all-or-nothing belief system. For example, people who have never voted for a Republican in their lives are just as fundamentalist as the 6,000 year old Earth folks, IMO. This would explain the fervor some people bring to their political beliefs and the lack of all rationality on many issues.
The people who use multiple sock puppets, and their defenders, justify their actions the same way that Jehovah Witnesses justify putting all that Watch Tower stuff on our windshields- to save the souls of the unbelievers.

Wait, I just read the latest thread . . . is Annie STILL obsessing about Nick? She created 19 aliases just to harass Nick and mock his innocent wife, who isn’t even on here, she can’t get through a thread without bringing up Nick repeatedly. And then she swung in the other direction and claimed her aliases were meant to be obviously her, which is why she didn’t deny it when other posters asked. But she’s offended that anyone would question her stability? And after that behavior, she’s claiming to be abused because she’s a woman or a feminist?!!!! As a woman, that’s an offensive, spurious argument to hide behind our gender.
I’ve said before, that because of past events in my own life, obsessive behavior gives me a visceral reaction. It’s extremely off-putting to watch how one poster has wrenched each and every thread of a basically legal blog to make it about herself and another poster, even bothering the owner on his vacation to complain.
I just want to read about current events and their impact on our freedoms, not the individual dramas of an anonymous (and still anonymous) poster.
Annie, you did wrong, you got caught, and you got a reprimand when you refused to stop. Welcome to life. Consequences happen to us all. So why not start afresh?

ISP. Internet Service Provider. This can often be a clue as to when people are posting multiple identities from the same source. Not always though because there are ways to generate random ISPs in order to mask this.
It really isn’t that important though, because most of the time we can tell by the writing style that it is the same person. If someone is that dedicated to creating chaos, I suppose the best thing to do is to just ignore since this childish behavior is next to impossible to stop.
