Bergdahl Report Delayed Until After The Election

305px-USA_PFC_BoweBergdahl_ACU_CroppedWe previously discussed how the White House opened admitted that it was delayed the increasingly unpopular immigration plan until after the election. Now it appears that another radioactive issue is being slow marched until after the election. The Army has completed its investigation into Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl’s disappearance from his base in Afghanistan five years ago. However, Pentagon sources have said that any release will have to come after the election and there is no guarantee that the findings will be made public.

There is significant evidence that Bergdahl may have planned to leave his post — resulting in search missions where fellow soldiers were put at risk. Some allege soldiers were killed on missions that included searches for Bergdahl.

The swap for Taliban leaders clearly violated federal law, as we have discussed. The Democrats are already facing a worsening situation with an extremely unpopular president but also very low polls for Democrats generally. Bergdahl is the last thing that voters need.

In Kentucky, the senate candidate has effectively denounced Obama and has turned the race into something of a referendum on Hillary Clinton, which may be only marginally better with most voters. Clinton has called Alison Lundergan Grimes the candidate of change — something many may find curious from the ultimate insider figure in American politics.

However, I remain fascinated, as I was with the immigration issue, that such issues are openly delayed to prevent voters from factoring them into their votes. There is very little outrage over such gaming of the system, which has obviously been done by both parties historically.

Okay, lets get real here. Now. Right now. The “duopoly” is not the problem. The problem is the arbitrary rules the Senate and House place on debate and voting up or down. Neither the Majority Leader in the Senate nor the Speaker of the house, nor any committee head, should be able to block any and all legislation at their personal or party whim. Any dang bill that is posted should be voted up or down, period, the discussion of it before hand is part of the action, but no one should be able to just block it per se….and you will be surprised, likely very surprised, at how much more cooperation occurs between Senators and Congressmen.

Don’t believe me? What is happening now as we approach an election? Anybody fleeing anyone? Wonder why?

  2. Byron, Krugman is the most weasel like person, from the facial features to the personality, of any person I have ever seen. He could play a weasel w/o any makeup or costume.

  3. Paul, As I’ve said many times, “None of the Above” on the ballot is the first key step to eviscerating the duopoly. I’m waiting for one of the cultists to link the Head Cultist Paul Krugman’s piece in Rolling Stone calling Obama the most successful president EVER. You can’t make this stuff up!! It’s pee your pants funny.

  4. Did some biohazard training in the Army at Fort Bragg, NC. Specifically, with Anthrax training, military bio-suits, decontamination and using antidote treatment on the battlefield.

Some of the Army guys refused the training and went on sick call all day. When they came back, they got the training, KP, cleaned toilets, trash cans and picked up cigarette butts till sunrise.

Cut some mission orders for Bergdahl and send him to the Ebola hot zone. If he runs again or doesn’t follow orders……He can cast his vote over there too. Don’t forget to bleach it clean.

  5. Paul, I have long supported an election where we all vote out the incumbents. A political colonic.

    1. Nick – I do support “None of the above” on the ballot and a new election without those if that wins.

  6. Once again we the people can make a choice, put the same people back in office and complain for 2 more years or NOT vote for the incumbent, not matter which party they are from and vote for somebody, anybody, else. Our elected officials from both major political parties have proven themselves more interested in self, party, and friends than the United States. Throw the bums out. This is our chance in 3 weeks. But here is a prediction, 90% of Congressman will be reelected, at least 80% of Senators will be reelected. And we the people (about 90% of us) will say how horrible this is. How can it be so horrible if we made it happen?

  7. The prisoner trade was just another bonehead decision by the Obama administration that he doesn’t want the public to realize

  8. Bergdhall or however ya spull it is probably mentally ill. Why does the military accept people who are mentally ill? Did this guy get denied admittance to the Coast Guard for being mentally ill? In Vietnam era the military sought out people in mental wards for enlistment and cut deals with people who were up itShay creek to dismiss criminal charges if they enlisted. We do not need wackos next to us when in the trenches. We ought to be asking if the guy is being treated for mental disease or defect right now. He is still in the military. If there was something wrong with him in that Pirate Territory to which he was assigned, then how did he get well while being a prisoner? And to those of you who think the President broke the law in brokering a deal for his release, then you go serve in that Pirate Territory and if you get locked up by those terrorists we will not trade one prisoner for your dumb soul. Next you will be complaining because we killed Ben Laden. He was someone’s Uncle Ben. What we really ought to be doing is pulling out of all those Pirate Territories. We can not govern there and we cannot control the Pirates and Terrorists. Obama: Pull Out Now, Like Your Father Should Have.

  9. The WH just announced they will be suspending habeas corpus, but not until after the elections.

  10. It seems as if young people learn in school how wonderful the US political system works – far better than any other. Then disillusionment seems almost directly proportional to one’s life experience. What if we taught kids in school about the problems with the US political system and asked them to spend their lives finding ways to improve it? Instead of the Pledge of Allegiance we need a pledge to work to make the system better.

    1. doglover – what if we asked all students to smoke dope though out high school and zone out during lectures and exams? Makes as much sense as your proposal. 😉

  11. The WH just announced they will tell us how deadly Ebola is, after the elections.

Nixon has a boner in his grave, seeing Obama operate.

That’s funny Nick.lolol Do you wonder if he is hoping during his eternal rest, that one of these times Obama is caught with his pants so far down around his ankles that the Supreme Court will do something about it? After all, they are supposed to be the Law of the Land.

  12. I think the drop in gas prices is tied to the coming elections as well. And they have been playing with the employment figures as well.

  13. They will not be releasing the new cost of Obamacare until after the election as well. Operation Kick the Can Down the Road is truly well away.

I agree… The obfuscation from this Administration is excruciatingly transparent!

  15. I am outraged by this in particular coming from a military family. Most non Military people I have spoken with have no idea what’s wrong with wandering off the reservation much less running your mouth about how unhappy you are with how unfair the US Army is and how much of a charade it is. Posting notes about how you are leaving to find a better scene in Afghanistan is really out there. And to pardon this guy is a mortal outrage. What is wrong with POTUS?

  16. “There is very little outrage over such gaming of the system, which has obviously been done by both parties historically.”

And, why should anyone expect anything different? This is politics. While it may seem reasonable to anticipate outrage, people either are not surprised by bad behavior on the part of politicians anymore, or they just don’t care enough to get upset by the continuous stream of deception coming out of Washington and all the corruption there. It’s just business as usual in D.C., where manipulation is practiced by everyone all the time.
