We have previously discussed the public decision of President Obama to hold back from implementing his plan for immigration until after the election — and after voters can express their opposition at the voting places. Now, the Administration is not only public reaffirming that decision but insisting that (while they are preparing to implement the plan) they will also not tell anyone what they intend to do until after the elections. Those comments came from León Rodríguez, the new head of Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) this week who tantalized an audience with the suggestion of sweeping but secret changes. It is extraordinary that politicians routinely get away with such positions. Millions are preparing to vote on the direction of the country, but one of the most important policies in this election is being openly hidden from them so that they cannot register their support or opposition.
Rodríguez spoke on Tuesday and said that they are hard at work and “We’re going to be ready” — after the elections. When a reporter asked the obvious question of what they are preparing, Rodríguez refused to answer — until after the election. Agencies are reportedly preparing for one of the most major changes ever ordered in the area — without any congressional approval.
Notably, while asking repeatedly for such information, the media is largely quiet in condemning the lack of transparency on such an important issue in this election. It is a cynical and manipulative decision to refuse any information to the public for months leading to this election. The President has made this one of his central political causes but has ordered a cone of silence to be lowered around the preparation to prevent voters from actually learning about the unilateral changes that he intends to order once they have gone home from the polls. Indeed, he is preparing to order the changes before the end of the year, which means in just a matter of a few weeks after the closing of the polls.
While refusing to give any information on the plan, Rodríguez did take time to chastise Georgetown Law School for putting him on the waiting list over thirty years ago in 1985. He first draw an analogy between the immigration reforms and law school wait lists and said that he tried to persuade Georgetown to let him in but was told he was lucky to be on a wait list. He then added “Looking back Georgetown, would you have admitted me? Would you have had different policies?”
I am glad that he got that off his chest.
He ended up getting his J.D. from Boston College Law School.

Well 40 isn’t 30’s, nick RCP average is 41.5
Obama doesn’t care what the people think! We have no border and the insanity of that is mind blowing. If you care about this country vote Republican. Democrats will not stop him, though they know they should.

SWM, You keep sending out a dog that don’t hunt. Gallup, the gold standard, has as you know, a daily tracking poll. Obama has been high 30’s to low 40’s for some time now. The last read is 40%.
I wonder why the Liberals here are not calling the amnesty thing what it is – – – disenfranchisement of blacks – – -??? Because when millions of Mexicans get their green cards, they are going to tend to get hired before unskilled blacks. They work harder, and complain less.

An analogy between law school wait lists and immigration? HA HA HA HA…. no wonder Georgetown didn´t want him.
oops too
Most of the recent polls have the approval rating in the 40’s except for Fox. Less that two weeks until the election…no using getting the xenophobes to riled as up as they are already apoplectic over ebola. Maybe, Speaker Boehner, needs to let the voting public know if he ever plans on holding a hearing on an immigration bill. Hasn’t it been years?
Seriously, if the voters fall for this, we deserve what we get.
Any politician who delays implementing something (like the employer mandate) until after an election knows full well that the population will NOT LIKE IT. And he’s playing them for fools.
He was just quoted as saying Democrats should “do what they have to to win” in appearing to distance themselves from him to get votes. But he says they’ll vote with him in the end.
doglover – were you unaware of the scandal (I know, there are so many you’ve probably lost track or became jaded) where Obama was counting turnarounds at the border as deportations to hike the #s up? Deportations have actually been DECLINING, and in 2011, were the lowest since 1973.

Getting pretty hard to keep track of all the problems, isn’t it? But his approval rating is in the 30s.
President Obama has deported more illegal immigrants than any other president. For enlightenment on who contributes most to the high standard of living in the US, take a look at the names of researchers in technical and professional journals. The numbers of Indian, Pakistani, Arab, Persian, Chinese, African and Hispanic names might surprise the exceptionalist racists among us.

Without a compass any course looks good!
I am glad they put a head in there this time.
The hats were incontinent.
bailers, Good comment. But, you missed the main reason, generating new voters. It is myopic. Except for immigrants who come from Communist countries like Cuba, new arrivals are usually Dem voters. I’m not sure about Asians. Anyway, Mexicans vote primarily Dem, but they are not, and never will be, the enslaved Dem voters like black folk. As Mexicans build their own businesses, and they are very entrepreneurial, they will become more Republican. Actually, I see Mexican voters as being a great base for a 3rd party. But, in the short run, it is a flood of new Dem voters. And, this country, in all aspects of our culture, has been a short run culture. We look no further than the next, quarter, the next season, the next election.

The most transparent President ever strikes again.
The secret plan has been revealed by our friends the British newspapers. There will be 32 million IDs for illegal aliens, green cards for everyone.
This planned amnesty is only going to accelerate the balkanization of the country, increase unemployment for Americans with little to no education, increase poverty, and increase distrust in Government.
Obama sure wants that title of worst president doesn’t he?

Well, they’re very, very confident that the new electorate they’re bringing in will approve, so why bother asking the old set of voters?
The Jesuits failed this “govt. official.” Obama was an indulged, fatherless, child and we are all paying for the dysfunctional personality that created.
