As a Chicago native, I am often faced with references to dead people voting and rigged elections. Unfortunately, having grown up under the original Daley machine, they are largely true. My parents helped found the Independent Voter movement and documented some unbelievable cases of fraud. I recall on precinct where the captain actually produced more votes than registered voters. In one percent where I was an observer, a voter discovered that her dead husband had voted before her. For that reason, the controversy with voting machines this week could not have come at a worse time or place — particularly with polls showing the Democrats approaching what could be a disaster. When Republican state representative candidate Jim Moynihan went to cast his vote Monday at the Schaumburg Public Library, he experienced a Homer Simpson moment when every time he tried to pick his name, the machine registered the vote for his Democratic opponent.
As Homer said, “this type of thing doesn’t happen in America . . . maybe Ohio but not America.”
Moynihan issued a warning for Republicans not to trust the machines and “Be careful when you vote in Illinois. Make sure you take the time to check your votes before submitting.”
Cook County Board of Elections Deputy Communications Director Jim Scalzitti insisted that this is not a return to “Cooked County” and that this was merely “a calibration error of the touch-screen on the machine.”

Olly – “Is there a legitimate reason to be concerned about the integrity of the voting process?
“For whatever reason, when statewide races are decided by less than 1 point, Democrats win almost three-quarters of the time. When the margin opens to 1-2 points, that advantage dissipates, and the Democrats win only half the races:””
This is why I think the reps will not get the senate. Any close race they will find the “trunk of ballots” like Mr. Affirmation did in MN.

Hey slick,
read about it here (Origin Of The “Liberal Media” Meme).
He repented on his deathbed.
Shakespeare was there of course …
“Most shallow man! Thou worms-meat in respect of a good piece of flesh indeed!” – Shakespeare (As You Like It)
How old is Atwater anyway? Going out on a limb here but I have to believe “fraud” was invented @ the same time voting was invented. 😉
Voter fraud is another invention of Atwaterism, like “liberal media” and “thugs” …

And who will be the most disenfranchised of their vote? The poor. The middle class. As per usual.
Jim22:
Thanks for the link. That’s chilling.
When Democrats fight measures to combat voter fraud, they do more than ignore Democratic voter fraud. They give the impression that their political rivals will be immune to the temptation to steal a hotly contested political race.
Let me disabuse them of that notion. Human nature being what it is, people of low character will succumb to the temptation. Although we have examples of an eagerness by Liberal organizations to commit voter fraud in the above link, I am certain that any political party would be guilty of it, the more so if it is easy.
This CO measure that requires ballots to be mailed to everyone, regardless of if they want them, and same day registration is a recipe that guarantees voter fraud.
And if all the political parties realize that the only way to win is to cheat, because everyone else is doing it . . .
The great thing about the Liberal philosophy is it asks “are we doing enough?” The weakness is that, like many political movements, there is no cause and effect analysis, and it depends almost exclusively on tax-and-spend.

It is amazing how human they are.
Not giving advice. Just stating an opinion. It is pointless to argue with those who are brainwashed by the government’s systems of control and believe voting actually gives them a say in how their lives are run by others. They will only chant “Vote, vote, vote!” as they allow the insanity to continue. If somehow my statements cause some of the more conscious and rational to peek outside their boxes and consider whether they have other options that will be more productive for them personally, then I’m satisfied. I wouldn’t presume to have universal answers for everyone. Each individual has to find what works for his or her own needs and desires. Most of the sheeple are happy getting shorn, being part of the herd, and ultimately getting eaten by the wolves. I’m not.
Touch-screens are victims of human actions. Perhaps the delay to switch the vote was just too short? CA has paper ballots. The computer reads the ink-filled spaces. Seems better. Could a delay occur to switch 5 out of 10? Computers don’t make mistakes. They do what they’re told. Surprised this happened in Chicago? No, surprised they go caught!

“It just doesn’t make any sense for the individual.”
Tyger,
So you are advising what exactly? Stay home? Go back to sleep? Hope for change? What? Join the Bilderbergs? Run for Congress? Your complaint might have some validity but you have suggested NO alternative that I’ve seen.
So until some other system is devised, VOTE!

It encapsulates quite a lot for me, Karen.
