Choose Life, Live Left? Study Finds That Liberals Outlive Conservatives

President_Barack_ObamaGeorge-W-Bush_jpegFor conservatives, it must sound like “better red than dead” all over again. A new study in the Journal of Epidemiology & Community Health suggests that liberals live longer than conservatives in the United States. The researchers looked at more than 32,000 adults and tracked them over 15 years. The result was surprising: conservatives seemed to be expiring faster than their counterparts on the left. However, conservatives claimed to be happier than their counterparts in life.

It has been reported that Hillary Clinton has been working on a new campaign theme. Perhaps they should consider a “Vote Hillary Or Die” campaign.

Roman Pabayo, a community health researcher at the University of Nevada said that the group relied on more concrete data like actual death records than did prior studies. They also eliminated other factors by comparing conservatives and liberals of similar age, sex, and socioeconomic status. Notably, when divided simply between parties, Democratic and Republican party members died at the same rate, but when compared on ideological grounds, conservatives bit the dust first on average.

Subu V. Subramanian, a professor of population health and geography at Harvard was critical of the findings. His study relied on self-reporting and found that Republicans reported better health and they were 15% less likely to smoke. He also found that Republicans and conservatives were benefitted by being more religious and “more tied into social networks and organizations.”

It may still be too early for some conservatives to embrace wage equity and global warming. The difference in death rates is described by Subramanian as “slight” in the new study.

  1. Tedd Kazinsky is considered a radical anti-tech, also known as a green anarchist.

You can look at selective writings of an anarchist, decrying the Left, and assume he was a Republican, but that would be wrong.

  2. mespo – you are selectively quoting the Unabomber Manifesto. If you read more, you will come to the conclusion that he trusted neither Liberals nor Republicans.

He wanted to return to a pre-industrial time where everyone worked for goals directly related to survival.

  3. @ Chip

Cool…..I await with bated breath. However, I now have to go and do some bookwork and billing for our company and get prepared to have our corporate taxes and personal taxes done. My favorite time of the year 🙁

I’ll check back for the debate in a bit.

  4. Remember, DBQ, they hadn’t gotten permission to out-debate us.

Now all we can do is wait for the onslaught of logic and evidence sure to come.

  5. Ok, then who are the “socks” you suggested I pulled out of a drawer? I see no commenters who haven’t been seen here before. I suggest you concern yourself with your own socks.

  6. I never thought that Inga was Mespo….that is why there is an “and” between the two names in my comment above. They are obviously two separate entities who are obsessed with labeling people and putting them into little boxes. Righties….lefties…..liberals…conservatives….evangelicals….Red States…..Blue States…….etc etc etc.

Instead of dealing with the issues…..such as the exact composition of those Federal Funding that is supposed to prove that Red States are mooching off the federal government, we get name calling and a refusal to address the facts.

    Ah well.

  7. DBQ, no I’m not Mespo. I have no interest in labeling you, your comments always describe you accuratly.

  8. We’re still around and more than happy to out-debate you conservatives anytime we’re permitted to do so.

Didn’t know you guys were waiting for this, but OK, here ya go:

    Permission granted.

  9. Friedman and coffee is a great way to start the day. “There is no freedom w/o choice.”

  10. Friedman (correct spelling)

“Most economic fallacies derive – from the tendency to assume that there is a fixed pie, that one party can gain only at the expense of another.”

“Underlying most arguments against the free market is a lack of belief in freedom itself.”

“The society that puts equality before freedom will end up with neither. The society that puts freedom before equality will end up with a great measure of both.”

  11. Well….good morning. I see that some people broke into their sock drawer last night and even knitted some new socks. Funny :-D.

Since Mespho and Annie/Inga/Whatever seem to be focused on trying to label people and put them into little boxes, I will go ahead and label myself for them since they can’t fathom that people are multi faceted and really don’t fit into tidy little boxes. Probably makes their heads hurt.

I am a conservative on fiscal issues and liberal on social issues. Whenever I take one of those cheezy online tests I come out as a libertarian on the scale right near Milton Freedman, whom I greatly admire. I’m a soft Libertarian not a hard line one like Ron or Rand Paul. So I guess I can live with that.

I know nothing about hockey so I have nothing to add here.

Everyone has their favorite. In their days Howe and Richard were tied for top spot. Before and since there have been players that have had something no other player had. However, if you go by stats, Gretzky is on another planet. There is no one coming up that even comes close.

However, Gretzky had the support of one of the greatest hockey dynasties of all time: Kurri, Messier, Tikkanen, Coffey, Fuhr, Moog, Lowe, Anderson etc. and Glen Slather who had the best scouting system in hockey for years and put together a contender for the greatest hockey team in NHL history that still holds the record as the highest scoring offensive machine in NHL history.

Edmonton would have tied and possibly beaten Montreal’s 5 Stanley Cups in a row but for Calgary who played four lines against the usual three of Edmonton that one game.

  13. I noticed that Po is gone again – I guess he is going to figure out how Alinsky and Holder and Alexander all hook up together and don’t forget Frances Fox Piven and her little rag the Nation

  14. Pogo, Do you notice mespo plays w/ words like a typical ham n’ egger lawyer. The other day he didn’t acknowledge there are different meanings to words, like “political.” It was childish. Tonight, he is positing someone cannot be a liberal and an anarchist. WTF? I’ve been cross examined by some great attorneys. They don’t play middle school word games like that. They treat the jury w/ respect. Ham n’ eggers are putting on a show for their client and smart jurors hate it. Just a lotta chest pumping tonight. It will pass. The real nasty aspect is the deliberate trashing of a blog they now hate. We never heard why he is off the weekend blogger roll, did we?

    1. You are soo funny Pogo. I just want you to know you crack me up and you usually aren’t up this late 😉

      1. happypappies – I think you have been laughing at my stuff not Pogo’s. 😉

        1. Paul, I was, I was – Let’s call him Flowers for Algernon lololol But the Hello kitty Stickers lolol hahahaha. But you are cracking me up tonight. I am so sick of these leftists getting away with this. Did you see what I posted on that other thread to Po and Wadewilliams when he called me a Moron? I pretty much told him to please beat me and call me dirty names because I liked it sooo much and appreciated it. llololol so stupid. 😉

  15. Pogo, I amost said “Kaczyinski sounds exactly like Pogo!”, but I thought that would be unkind.

  16. Mespo and Inga, your efforts to protect leftism should not go unacknowledged.
