TSA Screeners Fired After Allegedly Picking Out Handsome Male Passengers To Grope For Sexual Pleasure

240px-tsa_-_logoTwo Transportation Security Administration screeners at Denver International airport have been fired after investigators found that a male TSA employee would select handsome men that he wanted to fondle as part of a secondary patdown. Before you give the TSA much credit however you may want to read on.

Accordingly to the reports, the unnamed male TSA screener told a female screen that he liked to grope the genitals of male passengers and that he would alert another screener that the man was a female to cause the scanning machine to indicate an anomaly in the genital area. He would then do a secondary screening and grope the passenger. This appears to have occurred roughly a dozen times.

In December 2013, Jamelyn Steenhoek filed a complaint against TSA screeners at the airport saying the frisking she received at the same Denver airport amounted to a sexual assault, particularly the fondling of her breasts. No charges were filed.

Now here is the rub, both literally and figuratively. The TSA was given an anonymous tip of an employee who was groping passengers for sexual pleasure on Nov. 18, 2014. The tip came from another TSA employee. Yet, it took nearly three months for TSA act. It just left this man in a position to sexually assault passengers.

It is also unclear why this is not a crime. There was no basis for fondling the genitals of these passengers but the TSA employee is not named let alone charged. Presumably, a man walking through the airport fondling people would have faced a bit more of a penalty than just being led out of the airport.

Great you brought the whole cis-heteronormative stuff into the conversation! That is the next frontier after gay marriage. FWIW, I invented a new word yesterday, “fetiphobic” to describe those who are dismissive of people who participate in fetish-y sexual behavior. I mean, why draw the line at sodomy, and then ignore all the child molesters, voyeurs, exhibitionists, vinyl doll lovers, foot fetishists, water sporters, poopie sporters, BSDM folks, and gas-mask wearing latex freaks, etc??? I think the LGBT folks ought to be more inclusive and add an “F” to the mix! We wouldn’t want Christian bakers to discriminate against people crawling around on all fours with a ball gag in their mouth, would we???

  2. Pogo, seriously, you sound as if you’ve lost your grip. You make absolutely no sense.

  3. “v

But you cannot use that term, as it is based on tradition as is therefore cis-gender heteronormative.

In the new anything-goes society, how do you define ‘pervert’?

I argue it cannot be done, not anymore.
The very word is dependent on norms that no longer exist.

  4. Karen probably means it in the same way I do Pogo. I don’t think Karen has ever said anything that would indicate she was a homophobe. She is for allowing same sex couples to marry. So that may indicate she doesn’t consider homosexuality a perversion. Of course I could be wrong, I’m just guessing, I’m sure Karen can speak for herself.

  5. Given this offense, what is the remaining rationale for requiring same sex groping by the TSA?

Isn’t that cis-gender heteronormative, and therefore double-plus ungood oldthink hating haterism?

  6. Oh! I wrote a song about this back in 2011 when a little 6 year old girl got groped by the TSA:

    Skip a Grope
A Parody Song by Squeeky Fromm

Skip a Grope. Skip a Grope.

Use Greyhound Buses or mini vans
Keep yourself away from the naughty hands.

    Skip a Grope.

Well this beats all that you ever seen.
Standing in front of a big machine
Snapping your picture without a care
You’re as nekkid as a jay bird standing there!

Skip a Grope. Skip a Grope.

Oh, it’s thrown away, but what’juh bet?
Not too long, it’s on the Internet.

    Skip a Grope.

You don’t like this? Then go stand in line.
And let some creep fondle your behind.
They feel between your legs as they grope your breasts.
And a Ten Grand fine, so you can’t protest.

Skip a Grope. Skip a Grope.

So listen to the people what they say
    It ain’t very funny ‘bout the T S A

    Skip a Grope.

Now all us voters are who’s to blame.
We ain’t put a stop to this stupid game.

Skip a Grope. Skip a Grope.

So listen to the people what they say
No, it ain’t very funny ‘bout the T S A

Skip a Grope. Skip a Grope. fade out

Here is a youtube video of the original “Skip A Rope” song for people who don’t know the tune.

  7. “Perverts come in every sexual orientation

    Define ‘pervert.’

Isn’t ‘pervert’ just another of the myriad sexual orientations?
Doesn’t the very word ‘pervert’ imply an accepted norm?
    What is that norm?
    How was it violated here?

Or are you simply engaging in cis-gender heteronormative bias?

  8. If government agencies could be sued, have to use their own budget and resources to pay for it without taxpayers footing the bill, and if they could be fired for cause, we’d see real change and accountability.

  9. If a private corporation allowed a pervert to continue to sexually assault its customers, they would be sued into the Stone Age.

The difference is when a government agency does it, it’s “one way for thee, another for me.” Look at how the law does not seem to apply to many government employees (i.e. Hillary Clinton).

If a private company caused the death of people like the VA did to our honored veterans, there would be a multi million dollar lawsuit. Instead, no one even got fired at the VA.

  10. Aridog:

“Create a new humongous bureaucracy to oversee other bureaucracies, you get what you sought…more crap.”

So true. Bureaucracies breed sloth, waste, and inefficiency, and produce poor results.

  11. He should be charged, or at least the passengers should be given the opportunity to decide whether to press charges.

From the first hand accounts I have read of the TSA, I would feel far safer if they rotated military tours through airport security. Rotating people on the job would help with repetitive fatigue, and I trust a soldier far more to detect a bomb than some half asleep TSA employee. They have a bad track record of failing periodic tests to detect firearms or bombs.

  12. The problem isn’t with government versus private institutions. It seems fair to estimate that far more sexual intimidation exists in the private sector. The problem is that not enough heads at the top are open to the axe. In the case of the DEA party boys, Ms Leonhart simply says there is not much she can do. Well, get rid of her. If she can’t fire these bums for this behavior then get someone who can.

HUD which oversees billions of taxpayers dollars in subsidized housing in the US, some 40,000 properties, was in terrible disarray many years ago. Money was being obtained by fraudulent means, sometimes for buildings that did not exist. The Government laid down the law, sort it out or we will cut off funding. HUD created REAC which trained inspectors to survey the properties. The surveyors were private contractors working on a bidding for job basis, overseen by the government agency. The frauds stopped and the system works.

It’s not a question of private versus public. It’s a question of responsibility and accountability. You don’t dismantle a government system. You make it work for the public that pays for it.

  13. Perverts come in every sexual orientation. I guess that is something that seems to be an inconvenient truth. Only LGBT are suspect, or whatever group is in disfavor at the moment, I guess.

  14. [music- to tune of The Jets in Westside Story]
When you are Bent, you are Bent!
You are Bent all the way…
From your first senior prom to your last roll in the hay.

Why is it ok for someone to bait a thread with their homophobia while me simply saying “hello” to them is inappropriate enough for you to remove it? I just don’t understand. Perhaps some reasoning could be given?

Statement of the American Psychological Association Regarding Pedophilia and the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5)

A news release sent Oct. 30 on behalf of the American Family Association mischaracterized the position of the American Psychological Association with respect to pedophilia. The American Psychological Association does not classify mental disorders or publish the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual, as the release incorrectly stated.

The American Psychological Association maintains that pedophilia is a mental disorder; that sex between adults and children is always wrong; and that acting on pedophilic impulses is and should be a criminal act. The American Psychological Association has worked for many years to prevent child sexual abuse and will continue to do so.

The American Psychological Association, in Washington, D.C., is the largest scientific and professional organization representing psychology in the United States. APA’s membership includes more than 134,000 researchers, educators, clinicians, consultants and students. Through its divisions in 54 subfields of psychology and affiliations with 60 state, territorial and Canadian provincial associations, APA works to advance the creation, communication and application of psychological knowledge to benefit society and improve people’s lives.
