There is good news for those of us who support same-sex marriage (as well as an indication in the remarkable turnaround in public attitude in a relatively short time). According to a new Washington Post-ABC News poll, 6 out of 10 Americans now support same-sex marriage and believe that states should not be allowed to define marriage as only between a man and a woman. That is a record showing for same-sex marriage.
The poll was clearly timed for oral arguments next week on whether state restrictions on same-sex marriage are unconstitutional. I believe that there is likely a fifth vote with Justice Anthony Kennedy to support a ruling in favor of same-sex marriage. Indeed, it will be interesting to watch Chief Justice John Roberts on this issue. Roberts has shown a strong institutional sensitivity and many be the most likely of the remaining justices to feel the pull of history on the issue.
Not surprisingly, the greatest gains have been seen in those under age 30 where support has grown since 2005 from 57 percent to 78 percent. However, even among the historically least supportive group (those 65 and over) support is now at 46 percent (from just 18 percent).
Republicans still oppose at a rate of 6 to 10, however. This creates an interesting dynamic for the Republican primary where some candidates have already shown movement toward greater acceptance. The trend appears in that direction. Moreover, GOP candidates face the classic dilemma of fighting to secure the nomination from the most conservative members of the party while being able to run nationally to appeal to independents and democrats. The social agenda of conservative Republicans has never appealed to as much to independents and libertarians in the general election.

I have never seen so much deep thinking in my life than in the Turley blog than when it comes to “Marriage”
a combination or mixture of two or more elements.
“a marriage of jazz, pop, blues, and gospel”
synonyms: union, alliance, fusion, mixture, mix, blend, amalgamation, combination, merger
“a marriage of jazz, pop, and gospel”
Why does this have to do with the concept of a very few very narrow minded people speaking with regards to a rib coming out of a “first man”
Of course these same people think that Jesus came to preach to the “Elect” rather than in humility
Marriage of the Elect after the Rapture.
the elect will be the bride of Christ.(WOW you can be a man!!!)
Matthew 25:1-12, [New English Bible] [1] When that day comes, the kingdom of Heaven will be like this. There were ten girls, who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom.
13] “Then the king told the attendants, `Tie him hand and foot, and throw him outside, into the darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’ [14] “For many are invited, but few are chosen.”
The fate of those who do not attend the King’s banquet.
Obviously, it would be a sad day for a bride-to-be who was not ready when her intended husband came calling.

Thanks! I am having some second thoughts about Hillary lately.
******************
LMAO! The last straw was Robby Mook, amiright? Can’t volunteer for her campaign, might have to work with some gay folks. I thought so. Oh too rich, I love it.
Oh, I get it. Max isn’t talking to me .
Brave Sir Robin.
Does the New England Journal of Medicine also argue that physician should be compelled to prescribe female hormones to male transgenders, even though there are no long-term studies regarding efficacy or safety and there is no evidence based medicine to support it?
“A fundamental tenet of all medical care is the acceptance of patients as they are, for who they are, with respect and without prejudice or personal agendas.”
I didn’t read the full article.
have they taken anorexia, bulimia, and body dysmorphic disorder off the list of “diseases”?
Because indeed, this is part of “who they are.”
That is, the anorexic and thinks she is fat even if she has a BMI below 18. Who are we to argue?
Max,
Can’t wait to see the blowback. New Orleans is really going to feel it.
@bam bam
Thanks! I am having some second thoughts about Hillary lately. I think being around Obama for 6 years has adversely affected her judgement. I may still support her, but even a couple of my friends are becoming more iffy about her. And we were all like extremely vocal and supportive of her in 2008 when she was running against Satan.
Anyway, since there are several intelligent commenters here, this is off topic, but maybe some of you who like actual books, will like it:

Even though Amazon and Kindle have the Delphi Complete Works series on for 99 cents each. I just bought Yeats. I will probably get the Eliot one, and the Tennyson and Keats and Dickinson ones. But I am betting the Eliot one does not include his Columbo and Bolo poems, or the one about Lulu and the Whorehouse Ball. Which are all bawdy as all get out.

He cites “religious liberty” as his go-to discrimination point.
So, I CAN tell Piyush “Not in my place of business…GET OUT!”
His nose, lopped off to spite his face.
Annie,
It’s like Christians who insist that throwing stones is supported in the buybull (Leviticus/Paul) when their Christ said otherwise. He called them hypocrites, and rightly so…

Max, heck no. For a number of reasons.
Or doesn’t your Christianity extend that far?
“Shouldn’t Christians be concerned with their own house first before they pry into other peoples homes and bedrooms?”
How about their businesses?
Say, a bakery, or a pizza place?

Squeeky, gays are capable of serving honorably in the military.
= = =
Annie, is she qualified… ?
Dear Christians,
Leave the Judgement of your brother to God.
Leave the damnation of your brother to God.
Judge not least ye be judged…
… For who needs a God if mankind seeks to decide for God?
You know you have created God in your image when your God hate the same people you do.
Squeeky, gays are capeable of serving honorably in the military. Doesn’t make them good people, doesn’t make them bad people it makes them people who can function in any walk of life that a straight person can. That is all. You really turn yourself inside out and upside down to give your bigotry a better looking face. You post a funny video of “fairy” soldiers, I respond with soldiers who are seriously serving in the military. You consistently misunderstand others, what’s the deal?
Half of your response is unintelligible. This part wasn’t!
I think it is rational to compare them for the reasons the comparison was made. That was your point, that “serving in the military” somehow equating to homosexuality being OK. Whereas my response was, that all sorts of personal attributes are exhibited by military personnel, and the mere fact that the person serves in the military doesn’t necessarily make the subject attribute a good thing. Seems pretty obvious to me. I am not sure why that is such a difficult argument for you to follow.
Now, on to a separate matter. Your disapproval of equating homosexuality and alcoholism, period. You see them as two entirely distinct things, presumably outside of both of them being personal attributes. Perhaps. And if so, Gee!, welcome to the non-Gaystapo world!
We don’t see the refusal to bake a wedding cake for couple of homos to be equatable to what blacks faced in the Jim Crowish south, and equally deserving of special protections under the law. Heck, we don’t even see sodomy in all its various combinations, to be equatable to sex between a man and a woman for the purposes of marriage. We don’t see some guy dressed up like a woman, to be equatable to a woman when he wants to go poo poo in the women’s rest room. Those are our opinions.

So many Christians who claim to have a “personal relationship” with Jesus are more concerned with other peoples personal relationships. Is it that this “personal relationship” is tight enough to stray into others relationship? Shouldn’t Christians be concerned with their own house first before they pry into other peoples homes and bedrooms?
Walk that path to the Kingdom… Straying off that narrow path and wandering onto others path IS how one gets lost on a wide path… Besides, Jesus was clear that man should never bar others from entering through those Gates to the Kingdom. In fact, be called people who that “twice the child of hell”. So, woe to thee…
Squeeky, if a military member’s drinking interefers with their service they are made to get treatment and if treatment doesn’t work, they are discharged. Again a reasonable thinking person cannot equate alcoholism with homosexuality. Alcoholics who are impaired on the battle field or elsewhere cannot safely serve. What are you confused about? Squeeky you don’t like it when someone says you’re a homophobe, but really what other conclusion can a rational person come to?
Did someone say Hillary Clinton?
A little tribute to our gal, Hillary, and her main squeeze, Bill.
A much needed break from all of the mud slinging and name calling.

I know that you’ll like this, Squeeky. 🙂
She’s not my gal. She’s Squeeky’s gal. She’s voting for her, not me.
