Discredited NAACP Official Once Sued Howard University Over Reverse Discrimination

620We previously discussed the bizarre case of Rachel Dolezal, 37, the head of an NAACP chapter accused of lying by her own mother. Worse yet, some have suggested that Rachel Dolezal, who is the head of the NAACP’s chapter in Spokane, planted hate mail at her office. Now it appears that Dolezal once sued Howard University over discriminating against her for being white — before she claimed she was black. If true, it makes a truly bizarre story all the more bizarre.

Dolezal reportedly sued Howard for discrimination in 2002 when she graduated from the historically black college with a Master of Fine Arts degree. She was then known as Rachel Moore and sued Howard and Professor Alfred Smith, chairman of Howard’s Department of Art. The lawsuit is quoted as alleging “discrimination based on race, pregnancy, family responsibilities and gender.” She alleged that she was denied a teaching assistant post and that her application was rejected for a post-graduate instructorship in favor of African-American students. The lawsuit was dismissed by Judge Zoe Bush and Bush’s decision was upheld by the D.C. Court of Appeals. In addition to an order forcing her to pay a “Bill of Costs” of $2,728.50, she was ordered to pay the university nearly $1,000.00 in connection with an “obstructive and vexatious” court filing.

The unfolding background reveals a tragic obsession (and transformation) with race. That obsession would lead to the alleged falsification of information on government forms. It is also unclear whether this controversy will produce criminal charges.

  1. Pogo, It’s just more progressive b.s. I’m not sure why the love a world without definition.

  2. This woman is giving liberals agita and I LOVE IT! She appears to be a classic borderline personality. It is believed she made the allegations involving the ALLEGED molestation. She has created drama everywhere she has been. We all know that pathology! I saw one of her black stepbrothers on CNN interviewed. A nice, soft spoken guy. He said she has alienated the entire family. It’s a big family and none have anything to do w/ her.

  3. I have yet to read an intelligent explanation of how this woman self-identifying as black is any different than Bruce Jenner self-identifying as a woman.

If “gender” is “fluid,” then so is race. I mean “race.”
If she ain’t black, then Caitlyn ain’t female.
You can’t have it both ways.

And if Caitlyn is a she, then this story is a non-story:
“Woman changes her appearance for personal reasons” is pretty dull, innit?

  4. “Homeschooled…reading the Bible” to college graduate and head of an NAACP chapter. You are making a great case for returning the Bible to our screwed up, progressive public education system. Well done TinEar!

    😉

  5. This question was asked at Howard University when she brought her charges. The words are a quote from a certain movie which focused on race in the Wild West. The question:
    “Where da White woman at?”

Come on folks, show some movie savvy. Famous movie. The same team could make a movie out of this story. If she was Irish it would make everything come together.

  6. As a mutt, I always wondered what it would like to be unique in one way or another in my predominantly Caucasian world: Black, First Nation, Asian, etc.

  7. Brings back memories of Michael Jackson getting plastic surgery and bleaching skin white. Roll the video.

  8. Pentecostal, fundamentalist, homeschooling, abusive parents, son that molested own adopted 6 or 7 year old brother, hmmm what could go wrong?

  9. Criminal charges for falsification of government forms? What law did she break? She wrote that she was white, black & Native American on an application for a volunteer position. Is “race” defined by law? Is there a government roll of every eligible black person? Perhaps the next Federal Census will come with a swab and a test tube so the government can test our DNA to make sure we check the correct box for ethnicity.

  10. Time to make a movie about this. Let’s call it “Black to the Future” .

  11. Question:
When did a permanent and color become a “natural” look and when did changing your hair from blonde straight hair to a “fro” become a “black experience”?

  12. Well, I would think that being raised in a rural Montana cabin by homesteading fundamentalist Pentacostals, who lived off the land and homeschooled their two children by reading the bible (when they weren’t out hunting their own food) would lead any child to start imagining the possibility of being something different. And that difference appeared one day when she was a young teen, when the parents brought home not 1, but 4 black infants…perhaps making her feel a bit displaced? Maybe? And the father has admitted to using corporal punishment and banishing his children to group homes if they misbehaved. And let’s not forget that these screwball parents knew about her racial “crossover ” for years but never said anything until……[drumroll]…..Rachael’s older biological brother was recently arrested on 4 felony counts of sexually assaulting one of the black adopted kids who was age 6-7 at the time. Rachael reportedly gave a statement to the police supporting the child’s allegations, so the parents outed her to damage her credibility as a witness for the prosecution. An ugly mess, to be sure.

  13. Hmmm. I just wonder what a pro se lawsuit by her would look like???
