We previously discussed the bizarre case of Rachel Dolezal, 37, the head of an NAACP chapter accused of lying by her own mother. Worse yet, some have suggested that Rachel Dolezal, who is the head of the NAACP’s chapter in Spokane, planted hate mail at her office. Now it appears that Dolezal once sued Howard University over discriminating against her for being white — before she claimed she was black. If true, it makes a truly bizarre story all the more bizarre.
Dolezal reportedly sued Howard for discrimination in 2002 when she graduated from the historically black college with a Master of Fine Arts degree. She was then known as Rachel Moore and sued Howard and Professor Alfred Smith, chairman of Howard’s Department of Art. The lawsuit is quoted as alleging “discrimination based on race, pregnancy, family responsibilities and gender.” She alleged that she was denied a teaching assistant post and that her application was rejected for a post-graduate instructorship in favor of African-American students. The lawsuit was dismissed by Judge Zoe Bush and Bush’s decision was upheld by the D.C. Court of Appeals. In addition to an order forcing her to pay a “Bill of Costs” of $2,728.50, she was ordered to pay the university nearly $1,000.00 in connection with an “obstructive and vexatious” court filing.
The unfolding background reveals a tragic obsession (and transformation) with race. That obsession would lead to the alleged falsification of information on government forms. It is also unclear whether this controversy will produce criminal charges.

Always looking for a positive, I didn’t know Angela Davis had a daughter. Michaela Angela Davis was on Anderson Cooper last night. She is articulate and gave some good analysis on this woman. Cooper also had the black, NYT columnist Charles Blow and he just danced around and said many words but they added up to nothing. He is one of the many liberals w/ agita from this woman.
Karen, I am somewhat heartened. I have seen and read some intellectually honest liberals who have called this woman out. Most black liberals of course have called her on this fraud, but Whoopi gave her a pass.

Yeah, I’ve read about that crap before. As someone who is, in fact, generally considered “neuroatypical” – borderline / high-functioning sociopathy and PTSD – I can say from direct, visceral, empirical experience that this stuff isn’t normal and should never be normalized, much less celebrated – which is not to say that it should be stigmatized either because the mentally damaged need to be able to feel free to seek help.
Not normal is exactly that and, more often than not, it’s also on a day-to-day basis detrimental. Sometimes it’s a good thing though; we need outliers if we want innovation and some RARE times what is generally detrimental becomes a positive in specific contexts, e.g., there’s a woman in Brooklyn who wasn’t assaulted and/or raped and/or robbed because I “suffer” from hypervigilance and have no qualms whatsoever about using every bit of my training to put an aggressor down and making sure it doesn’t have the capacity to ever be threat to anyone again.
But normally it’s a bad, bad thing.
I think this woman should get some counseling, but it will be useless unless she can actually be honest with the therapist.
Between this borderline, and the prison employee borderline, maybe this could be the impetus for a telethon, Cure Borderline Personality in Our Lifetime. Jerry Lewis is available.

I absolutely agree but when it comes to identify politics that is irrelevant. We have this strange political structure that is designed for all the people but in reality functions much like a social engineering experiment. This is what progressivism has brought us, an electorate of cattle incapable of escaping the herd they’ve been duped into following. It does not end well for the cattle.
Karen, Many liberals are forced to defend this woman. That’s what has made this particularly enjoyable viewing. But, as entertaining as it has been for a few days, I hope this woman just fades away.
People w/ issues, like daddy issues, carry that burden throughout their lives. It infects all their relationships, particularly those w/ men. But, I see it also spilling over to relationships w/ women as well. Therapy can help if dealt w/ early, and if you have a good therapist. Too often, it is never dealt w/ and those around that person suffer.
If jobs were given strictly on merit, figuratively blindfolded, and race was neither a handicap nor a bonus, then it wouldn’t matter so much if she pretended to be black. She would be more of an object of pity, having to go to such lengths to create a fantasy because she could not accept herself as she is. As it is, there are valid and serious concerns that this was a type of cheating.

One should note that in addition to claiming that her brother sexually assaulted their younger brother, which is very serious, she also claimed that him looking at National Geographic images of topless native African women showed an unhealthy interest in black women.
Obviously, the former charge needs to be very thoroughly investigated. I hope they follow this story to its inclusion. But the latter claim is just weird.
None of us has any idea yet what the motives were of the parents who exposed her, or if her brother is guilty or not yet. Hopefully we will find out soon.
It has been pointed out that the NAACP does hire whites. Were there any other applicants for the position? Was she approached by them for the job while she was teaching “The Black Woman’s Struggles”, and if so, would they have hired her if they’d known a white woman was lying about being black, teaching that class?
It sounds like perhaps she did not particularly enjoy experiencing Affirmative Action as a white person, so she changed her persona to black and gamed the same system. Or she’s one of those people who get pleasure and attention from playing a victim, and so creates an elaborate fantasy to fill that need. It’s like Munchausen Syndrome, but with victimization instead of health problems.
It is unbelievable to me that anyone would defend this behavior, or the perpetrator from criticism. If true, then all those people who failed to become cops because their spot was given away via Affirmative Action to African Americans with lower test scores were all fools. They should have just self identified as black.
We need to stop hyper focusing on race in favor of meritocracy. One of my personal heroes, MLK, wanted us all to be judged by our character rather than the color of our skin. We are all people. Our education system should be improved so that graduates are prepared to either go to college, a trade school, or get a job. I’m often referred to Harlem Children’s Zone as a program that has been very successful in launching kids to college. Find a program that works in similar circumstances, and emulate it. Have after school programs, safe place to play, drive the drug dealers and gangs away from where kids walk to school or play. We need to address the obstacles that prevent kids from getting a good education and staying out of trouble, rather than make all decision based on race.
We are focusing more and more on race, which is divisive. We’re all just people.
Simply put, Both Dolezal and Jenner have severe mental disorders. Both suffer from extreme forms of body dismorphism. There’s not much to be done about that.
The problem is that certain elements in our society have chosen to celebrate and normalize these specific derangement, much as they’ve been attempting, rather successfully, to celebrate and normalize the mental illness known as homosexuality.
Regarding the Howard matter, is it illegal to file false racial discrimination “hate crime” reports?
Dolezal had a father in the home growing up, perhaps that is part of her problem. Her father reportedly used corporal punishment and also sent the children to live in group homes for punishment. A bad father in the home is worse than no father in the home. Just because the spouse has a penis and testicles doesn’t mean he will be a positive influence in the children’s lives.
TinEar, The “vitriol” myself and many people heap on this woman is about being a lying SOS. She is not “owning” her fraud, lies, duplicity, and hypocrisy. The Matt Lauer interview was a disgrace and journalistic malpractice. He threw underhand softball questions. She is not courageous in the least if you understand borderline personality. In this case, it is a hybrid of borderline and liberal victimhood. For that pathology, attention and drama is like heroin. Negative attention is just as good as positive attention for the borderline and victim. For them, there is no difference in negative and positive attention, and negative attention is always easier to get.
