Brave Cat Named “National Hero Dog” After Child’s Rescue

A hero cat gained international acclaim and interest for saving a six year old boy from a vicious attack by a marauding dog. She was thus awarded The Los Angeles Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals’ National Hero Dog prize.

Madeleine Bernstein, president of the local ASPCA chapter, stated: “We were so impressed by Tara’s bravery and fast action that the selection committee decided that a cat this spectacular should be the National Hero Dog.”

The cat, Tara, who lives in Bakersfield, CA received the 33rd annual award—presented to her family in a ceremony in Los Angeles.

tr-speechThe near tragedy unfolded in May of 2014 when her owner’s six-year-old son, Jeremy Triantafilo, was happily riding his bicycle in front of his otherwise serene Bakersfield home. Unbeknownst to this innocent young child, the sinister gaze of a most craven dog peered down upon the boy. It was nothing short of nefarious intent and a cowardly disposition that capitalized upon this deceptive ploy, the cloak of Man’s Best Friend. Most dishonorable indeed!

The cad dog stalked our child, seized the boy viciously by the leg, and hurled him to the concrete below. It had been quite enough to attack a little boy, but to do so from behind like a common backstabber shows quite decidedly how wretchedly low this mutt had sunk.

Wails of panic and pain cried out from our poor, victimized child. We are sorry to reveal such a horrible image befalling an innocent but it was this hue and cry that summoned a lightning stoked vengeance from an almost unbelievable source, the family cat Tara.

Tara vanquished this cowardly enemy with such haste and speed one could only imagine the intensity of the resolve that raced from mind to claws, hell-bent on rescue and unleashing justice upon this mutt.

Almost in mid-air Tara scored a most palpable hit, driving him over and sending him fleeing in the disgrace he deserved. It is with an almost ironic twist that the vanquished was named “Scrappy”, for it is our hero cat that deserved such a title after dethroning this beast from its pedestal of ego. But the defeat was further cemented when after a quick glance to see that the boy was in the arms of a very worried but comforting mother that Tara gave chase once again, driving the marauding beast from the tranquility of the family home forever.

It is no coincidence that Providence saved this boy through the boldness of a small but formidable champion. Tara’s deeds can be described fittingly in the biblical lessons of David and Goliath–though it certainly could be argued that Goliath was comparatively the more Honorable beast.

The family with haste conveyed our victim to hospital where he required no less than eight stitches to mend the wounds of this dastardly attack. Nevertheless it is clear this rescue from a harrowing ordeal served to only endear Tara to her loving family for her selfless acts of bravery.

Though she never sought acclaim or fame from her actions, Tara gained celebrity through the modern marvel of the YouTube Home Nickelodeon. An astonishing 800,000 souls watched in profound amazement. A year later, the ASPCA took kind notice.

Breaking all convention, Tara achieved a most unprecedented prize, the National Hero Dog Award. Hers was a victory so complete that it not only defeated this low-life dog, it destroyed all contenders of the canine species worldwide in their bids for glory.

We invite you to witness Tara’s triumphant stand in the below YouTube Color Motion Picture.

Certain we are that Tara can stand proud as a fine example of the heroism espoused by our Great Republic.

  1. Wow….I go away for a few days and suddenly a cute and uplifting article about a cat saving her little boy from a dog attack has reverted back to the same old tired drivel about conservatives and racial relations and religion and yada yada yada……ad nauseam.

Geez people. Lighten up once in a while. Darren’s article was a blessed relief from the usual back and forth attacks. Also it was very well written in a lovely Victorian purple prose type of way.

  2. Randyjet:

Here are one of the reasons why I am a fiscal conservative. Greece’s tax-and-spend policy can can no longer be kicked down the road and they are in very serious trouble:

    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/economics/11689460/Greeks-make-last-ditch-Merkel-appeal-as-day-of-reckoning-approaches.html

Compare with the CBO’s most recent report on our spiraling debt, and one could see why getting our financial house in order would be important.

    1. Karen, I find it ironic and outrageous that Germany of all countries is demanding that Greece pay back all of the loans that are from mainly German banks. They forget that after WWII, the UN and the USA forgave TRILLIONS of dollars that Germany owed to them. Not only that, but the US and the Marshall Plan GAVE them BILLLIONS MORE to get their economy going and rebuilding their country. Then there is the little problem that the Germans never gave back the billions the Nazis looted from Greece during the war. So I find this to be an excerise in historical amnesia and absurd. The leading economists have said that the solution to this is NOT austerity and taking money OUT of Greece. The solution is reforms AND giving more money to get their economy going again, JUST AS OUR FOREBEARERS DID AFTER WWII FOR GERMANY!

By the way, the USA was founded on paper money completely. I think it turned out pretty well considering our national debt was at least 500% of our GDP at the time. Last time I looked Japan’s national debt is 200% of GDP.

  3. Nick – I read yesterday how the victims’ families faced Roof in court. They talked about the terrible pain he’d caused, but many also said they forgave him, and asked him to seek God. The account just brought me to tears, such goodness in the literal face of evil. I pray for all those affected by this terrible, savage act.

  4. Cats aren’t dogs. Only in dumbed down America do we award a cat a “National Hero Dog” award. But whites are black, males pretend to be female and gays can get married. God we are stupid.

  5. Go Kitty Go! Grew up a dog person. But in my time volunteering at a no kill shelter I have learned how fantastic cats can also be. Understand the award is intended for dogs, but feel Tara is a deserving recipient.

Here, let me translate your drivel and just say what you really mean,

“I want to come to some website where people think that I am very smart, and will just nod their heads “yes” at whatever I say and I won’t have to address painful questions or actually think about my position, because having to defend my ideas is like really, really stressful and stuff. And where only people who think like me can call other people names.”

There! You’re welcome! And may I add this little gossipy tidbit that was sent to me by a very good friend, who was just ROTFLHAO about this when she read it at another website, that you probably know:

As an Editor and blog Administrator, I would like to remind everyone that ad hominem name calling is what many of us fled another blog to avoid. If you have a point of argument, make it and defend that position with logic and reason. [name withheld to protect the innocent] is not “trash” and neither are some of the others who may find this forum more to their liking.

This is also not a private club where “insiders” can feel free to greet newcomers and visitors with derision and personal attacks. Attack the argument, not the person. I am friends with a physics professor who specializes in materials and dense matter physics. She tried to engage discussion here shortly after this blog was first set up. After a brief exchange, she sent me an email saying, “I don’t have time for a-holes.”

If we are going to be instruments of change, we must act more like salespersons and less like dogmatic ideologues.

There is more to it, and you can probably find it. I am only surprised that the writer came right out and said it.

  7. Well, Randyjet, I wish Professor Turley much luck with that, seems a bit late.

  8. Squeeky, blah blah, “Trayvonnazi”.. Blah.. Snort…”race baiter”… Blah blah..burble…poo poo poems…blah blah..”celebratory sodomy”… Snort, blah blah….”feral blacks”… Blah, blah, “my daddy spanked me and look how good I turned out” blah, snort…blah, blah blah blabbitty blah….

That’s all that I hear when you post comments anymore.

  9. No Squeeky, you were/are dead wrong, and you don’t have a clue about just how wrong and that’s pathetic. Your perceptions of reality are seriously upside down and inside out.

  10. @Ringhals

I don’t know much about them. My father got one of their handouts years ago, and he said they sounded like kluxxers to him, but I haven’t read any of their stuff. But regardless, what sent Dylann there in the first place??? It sure wasn’t the Confederate flag. It was the Travonazi RACE-BAITING. If the CCC is RACE-BAITING too, then they are just as guilty as the liberal RACE-BAITERS.

FWIW, I warned about this about 2 years ago when I wrote The Trayvonazi Song, which is sung to the tune of the Nazi’s Horst Wessel song.

I do think there are some people who innocently hold grossly erroneous beliefs about the Trayvon Martin incident, and do not protest out of any race-baiting animus. They believe he is dead because of racism. This song seriously hurts their feelings, and for that I am truly sorry. But somebody has to ask how they got to that point??? What ever made them think that somebody who shot a person, when that person had just attacked him, broken his nose, and was in the process of banging his head against the concrete, was some sort of racist? My answer is that they are simply the innocent fish who got caught on the race-baiting hook. They were either directly reeled-in by this particular instance of race baiting, or predisposed to jumping in the boat by previous race baiters poisoning the racial atmosphere for the last couple of decades.

Which is why race-baiting is so bad in the first place. The whole point of race-baiting is to stir up racial divisiveness. Of course some people are going to fall for it. Isn’t that the whole point???

That was me, two years ago. I guess I was right,

You do realize that every single post on the Council of Conservative Citizens website is designed to inflame white on minority race hatred, don’t you?

  12. Extremist conservatives are the blight on our society and the majority of rational Americans are sick of them. Their chickens came home to roost in the form of Dylann Roof.

  13. Dylan Roof could’ve been the son of Squeeky, his manifesto sounds as if Squeeky was the ghost writer.

    1. Annie, I disagree with your characterization of these people as conservatives. I like talking to conservatives and liked Buckley when he had his show on governmental TV, an irony in itself. The current crop of so called extreme conservatives are not that at all, but outright fascists. That is why I think that it is useless to talk to them since we have nothing to talk about since their values are so divergent from American ones. They display a total incapacity for rational thought, and deal only in myths, and emotion, like the cops who declared themselves devoted to kith and kin, and not the law or the Constitution they swore to uphold.

I gave up on one person when I pointed out to him that the Articles of Confederation stated that it was to establish the PERPETUAL UNION of the United States, and he stated that meant that the states could still secede! When such fools show themselves, I take the stand Barney Frank did with a similar dolt, and pointed out that answering the fool makes as much sense as talking to a chair. It is obvious that much of the posts on this blog have been taken over by the wing nuts and they have little to offer people, and most especially the legal community which is supposed to be the focus of this. I liked this because I learned quite a bit from the people here and enjoyed the back and forth. I wish I had some idea to help restore this blog to what it was. Prof Turley is the one who has to solve this since it is his place not mine. I know others have made some suggestions, but they were not heeded.

      1. randyjet – once the Constitution is ratified, the Articles of Confederation have only a historical meaning. The Constitution is not a minor tune-up of the Articles but a complete revamp.

  14. @NickS

Amen. It always seems to be the innocent ones who pay the price. I don’t know how some of the RACE-BAITERS think they can go around sowing racial discord and racial hatred all the time and then put on their innocent act like, “Oh, it wasn’t none of me. . .” when something like this happens. I plan on holding the SOB’s feet to the fire. Dylann ought to get the death penalty for what he did, but the RACE-BAITERS have some blood on their hands, too. IMO.

  15. Squeek, The people of Charleston, both black and white, are handling this horrible tragedy w/ grace and dignity. It’s despicable people pushing their agenda before the victims are even in the ground that are a blight on our culture and this blog.

  16. @randyjet

Oh yeah, and over at the other place, the Intellectual Giants there are blaming the Confederate Flag! And, FWIW, it isn’t me who is blaming the constant RACE BAITING and RACE BAITERS, it is the murderer himself. Here are his words from his so-called manifesto:

The event that truly awakened me was the Trayvon Martin case. I kept hearing and seeing his name, and eventually I decided to look him up. I read the Wikipedia article and right away I was unable to understand what the big deal was. It was obvious that Zimmerman was in the right. But more importantly this prompted me to type in the words “black on White crime” into Google, and I have never been the same since that day. The first website I came to was the Council of Conservative Citizens. There were pages upon pages of these brutal black on White murders. I was in disbelief. At this moment I realized that something was very wrong. How could the news be blowing up the Trayvon Martin case while hundreds of these black on White murders got ignored?

So, I double down on what I said above,

Outside of Dylann just being stupid, and having a depraved mind and heart, what is the one thing that we know that he himself said motivated him??? RACE BAITING, specifically the RACE-BAITING done by the Trayvonazis who tried to turn a dead thug, who was mugging somebody, into a symbol of racist America. All to get votes for the Democratic Party and to make some stupid twits feel good about themselves.

Face facts, randyjet. If you and your buds go around RACE-BAITING and trying to stir up the black folks over a bunch of crap, you shouldn’t be one bit surprised if you stir up some white idiots in the process, too. So, don’t act sooo innocent. Maybe you guys should consider stopping all the RACE BAITING???

  17. Isaac:

It wasn’t the dogs’ fault. The owner was a nut. She thought it was “mean” to keep them cooped up in her yard, and she certainly didn’t seem to train them. She fought like heck against the Dangerous Dog Designation, too. So eventually they took the dogs away from her. Good thing, too. A while before the full on attack happened, one of them came on our ranch and charged snarling at my little boy in his stroller. My cattle dog drove him off. While she avoided Animal Control, her dogs terrorized the neighborhood, going after horses, keeping a woman stuck in her car, and biting another neighbor. If they hadn’t taken the dogs, I was going to have to keep my pistol on me just to let my kid play outside. I don’t have a cattle prod, and you can’t carry it everywhere. I’m glad they confiscated the dogs. It would have hurt me to harm a dog when it was the owner’s fault, but I would absolutely defend my own. You should have seen the bite wounds on my poor dog. The vet said it would take surgery to close them, but left them open to prevent abscess. I cursed that woman’s name every time I had to clean it out while my dog whined. But I was grateful it wasn’t my child.

People can make bad decisions, and its unfair when it affects the helpless animals in their questionable care.
