Georgia Man Arrested After Reportedly Caught On Video Putting Weed Killer In Co-Worker’s Water

Roundup_herbicide_logo06232015-Dunton-AnthonyAnthony Gerald Dunton has allegedly confessed to a bizarre crime: he was reportedly filmed putting Roundup weed killer in the water bottle of a co-worker. When he confessed to the crime, Dunton insisted that he was only trying to “mess with him.”

The co-worker in Georgia thought that his water tasted odd and was suspicious when it formed when shaken. The co-worker set up a camera and captured Dunton removing the bottle and then returning with it. This was done four or five times. Even worse for Dunton are videotapes showing him wiping off the bottle to apparently remove the fingerprints.

He is now charged with four counts of aggravated assault, though I am not sure why this crime does not meet the standard for attempted murder. He was released after making bond.

He may want to find a lawyer because the “just messing’ around” defense is not very promising.

  1. Wow. This should be attempted murder. Round Up is very dangerous.

I use it every year often more than once a year to keep the weeds down in the driveways and in other areas. We buy it by the gallons. Along the roads I use Transline or a product like that for the Star Thistle and for the sweet peas in the orchard and garden that are incredibly invasive, strangle the young trees and other decorative shrubs.

Both substances are extremely toxic and I take all precautions to keep from breathing the overspray or allowing it to touch my body. Full coverage, dust or breathing masks. Wear my hair in a scarf. Rubber gloves. Rinse out all hand sprayers afterwards for storage Rinse off and wash the riding lawn tractor where the sprayer for the road is attached and clean the sprayer tanks, one for Round Up one for the star thistle herbicide. (I know, you can combine some herbicides, but I prefer to have separate sprayers for each type of chemical or application like fungus, insecticides, etc) Take a long thorough shower afterwards. Wash my clothing separately and rinse off my work boots which never come into the house.

Putting this in someone’s drink or food is going to seriously harm them or even kill them.

  2. Nick

Jeesh, lame, anybody with half a brain knows this can be tied back to Obama, somehow.

  3. Seneff is an antivaxxer? That’s too bad, the Shikimate pathway and intestinal bacteria imbalance sounded interesting, now she’s pretty much discredited, which is really too bad as she could be correct on the Roundup connection.

  4. Murphy, that’s very interesting. Perhaps that’s why we’re seeing increasing numbers of intestinal disorders and many more people using probiotics. Gut bacteria imbalance has been linked to many chronic issues from autoimmune disorders to mental disorders.

  5. We can add the 8th Amendment to the US Constitution that Isaac fails to grasp.

Monsanto claims that Roundup is harmless to humans. Bacteria, fungi, algae, parasites, and plants use a seven-step metabolic route known as the shikimate pathway for the biosynthesis of aromatic amino acids; glyphosate inhibits this pathway, causing the plant to die, which is why it’s so effective as an herbicide. Monsanto says humans don’t have this shikimate pathway, so it’s perfectly safe.

Dr. Seneff points out, however, that our gut bacteria do have this pathway, and that’s crucial because these bacteria supply our body with crucial amino acids. Roundup thus kills beneficial gut bacteria, allowing pathogens to grow; interferes with the synthesis of amino acids including methionine, which leads to shortages in critical neurotransmitters and folate; chelates (removes) important minerals like iron, cobalt and manganese; and much more.

  7. Here, there is a reason to lock some one up for the rest of their life. The guy is well past the age of learning. This is no prank by an ignorant schoolboy. He’s either dangerously insane or dangerously psychotic.

Although it does remind me of when I worked the pipelines in Northern Alberta in the 60’s. The welders who sat at the front of the ‘crummy’ would, from time to time, throw a rattle snake onto the bus after us laborers had settled in at the back. Just good fun.

  8. Squeek, Nice ditty but you missed the opportunity to use “paraquat.” That is the herbicide used to spray illegal cannabis fields.

  9. From MedlinPlus regarding Roundup and the many weed killers that contain glyphosate: “Patients who continue to improve over the first 4 to 6 hours (after medical treatment) usually recover.”

BTW, Glyphosate has also been linked as a probable carcinogen and to birth defects. My guess it that Monsanto would say those claims are controversial.

  10. Yep, when I used to apply Round-Up on my weeds I was just “messing-around” with them. However, I expected them to die afterwards.

I don’t think you can say that I “assaulted” them…and if they hadn’t died I think I would be guilty of attempted “murder”, not “assault”.

In the meantime, I don’t use Round-Up anymore. It’s toxic

  11. No mention of the co-worker’s condition. Any medical issues or long-term problems resulting from drinking the substance?

  12. Maybe “Just messing round” is a standard defense in Georgia?

On the other hand, was there enough weed-killer in the bottle to kill him so attempted murder is actual a legitimate charge?

  13. Hmmm. Sooo, if I was his lawyer. . . I would need a good defense. And, an Irish Poem!

    The Last Roundup???
An Irish Poem by Squeeky Fromm

When asked why he done the foul deed-
Gerald Dunton launched into a screed!
    “My co-worker’s on pot,
And the stuff stinks a lot!”
I was trying to just kill the weed!”
