Four high school students picked the wrong guy to allegedly kidnap and rob. Texas border patrol agent Armando Alaniz was was vacationing with his family in Florida and was packing up his car when four teens jumped him and threw him into his car. Gregory McDonald, 19, Dante Askins, 18, and two other teens, 15 and 16, are accused of pistol-whipping the agent, tying him up, robbing him, and then abandoning him at a vacant drug house in Orlando. What is interesting is that an OnStar vehicle security representative called the car after the victim’s wife called police. The agent heard someone screaming for help and notified police.
The agent was confronted at gunpoint in an Orlando hotel parking lot Wednesday night as he was packing up his car. He was forced into the backseat, pistol-whipped, tied-up and robbed of his wallet. His was then held captive for two hours. His harrowing ordeal ended when the carjackers ditched the car at a vacant drug house and fled, the Orange County Sheriff’s Office said.
Askins, who is a reputed member of the street gang Death Over Mercy, added to his problem by being picked up Thursday in a stolen car. He was previously charged in a serious offense but avoided prosecution. In 2013, he was charged as an adult at 16 with attempted murder in a drive-by shooting targeting a member of the rival Gorilla gang. His co-defendants received lengthy sentences but the charges against Askins were eventually dropped.
The four face charges of armed kidnapping, carjacking and battery with a firearm. Askins has additional charges of multiple counts of stealing cars, resisting arrest without violence, burglary and possession of burglary tools.
Sheriff Jerry Demings (right) stated that “[t]hese high-school students were playing a dangerous game, and they got caught playing a dangerous game.” That comment struck me as rather odd. Hanging on the back of city buses and running on roof top is a dangerous game. Carjacking, kidnapping, and pistol-whipping people are serious crimes committed by serious felons. The victim was beaten and robbed. I fail to see how the word game would come into play on any level of this crime.
JT seems to have gotten help for his cop hating posts. But, he needs to see there are consequences for his actions. A few days ago, a white Birmingham cop was pistol whipped w/ his own gun. A black suspect took the cops gun away from him and pistol whipped him senseless. Black citizens, instead of coming to the cops assistance, took photos and mad mocking posts of him online. The cop is quoted as saying he did not use his gun because he didn’t want to end up like many other cops on the national news for simply defending themselves, like Darren Wilson.
Olly – I don’t know of any progressive conservatives or republicans. That would be an oxymoron. However I have heard of anti-gun lawmakers carrying guns.
Missouri state Senator Jamilah Nasheed, a Democrat who has sponsored several “anti-gun” bills in her state, was arrested Monday night during a protest outside of the Ferguson Police Department. However, it’s what police officers found on her that is raising eyebrows.

Why did the four goons commit that heinous crime and many others? The culture they grew up in? Resentment and desperation? Mental disorder? Ordered to do it by someone higher up? Paid and armed to do it? Brainwashed to do it? On drugs/alcohol? Observed other heinous bullies as role models? Saw similar heinous acts glorified in movies,TV, and video games?
If these four are killed as many commenters suggest they should be, will that mean that “bad guys” are gone? No more will appear? If the victim had an arsenal of guns in his house, or even a loaded gun in a plastic holder in his motel room, would that have helped him when he was loading up his car during his vacation? Would it have been wise to have a loaded gun in his waistband as he jostled suitcases, souvenirs, hats, sunglasses, suntan oil, surfboards in and out of his car?
Lisa,
Gun-control advocates aren’t necessarily identified by political party. It primarily comes from the administrative state mindset of the progressive movement.
Barry Goldater was NOT a progressive. In FACT it was conservatives who made the most restrictive gun control laws, especially in the South. Progressives were for getting RID of such laws which stated that a person had to get the permission of the local Sheriff to own a gun in many places. The obvious reason was that the KKK did NOT want return fire from its victims. Goldwater could remember the sight of armed miners going on strike and protecting themselves in the Southwest mines.
Craig, IT rymes better if it is Don’t shoot. Give up the loot, and die.
Lisa, Democrats do NOT want to take guns away from law abiding citizens. I am a Democrat veteran, hunter, gun owner, etc I DO want to keep crooks like these so called kids from being able to LEGALLY buy guns at gun shows. Instead, YOU want them to keep that option open for them.
New word game JT: Street gang Death Over Mercy Black lives matter movement. Don’t shoot. Just give up the booty and die.
Too bad the kids hadn’t been arrested for drug crimes prior to this attack. They’d have been sentenced to jail for life. But it was only attempted murder. No jail time for that minor crime.
High school students? That is exactly why I send my kids to Catholic schools…and we’re not Catholic.
IMLO , Gregory McDonald, 19, Dante Askins, 18, and two other teens, 15 and 16 ; were acting out their thuggish ways •
It is unfortunate that the agent was not able to stop their evil , predatory attack by ANY means possible , including the successful use of deadly force if reasonable •
These young thugs were simply four gentle giants, much like their contemporary, big teddy bear Michael Brown. Merely victims of their white-privilege environment–just playing a game, nothing more. Why, robbing a store, stealing cigars and pushing a clerk out of the way were also just part of a game played by the venerated Saint Michael Brown–not a string of crimes with real, actual victims. Part of the solution? Let’s hire more incompetent African-American officers like Sheriff Jerry Demings, who will minimize the severity of this behavior and portray these acts as some sort of strange right-of-passage associated with childhood. Yeah, that’s the solution. More people in law enforcement like him.
I’m with you, Lisa. Terminate them on the spot. And if you have to take them to court, let the sentence be execution. Quickly, not years later. This is a conscious, deliberate, and highly dangerous criminal act. The only way to eliminate this sort of behavior permanently is to exterminate the perpetrators.

What does democrat or republican have to do with anything?”
Democrats want to take away guns of the law abiding citizens. Have you not heard? Do you have sand in your ears ?
What does democrat or republican have to do with anything?
Thank God, the victims family wasn’t with him. This would be justifiable homicide. I would’ve shot them dead. Four against one, they were armed and had criminal records. POS walking around targeting innocent people.
Oh it was a game, to them, and it’s their fault they got caught according to the police chief. Then the democrats wonder why the rest of law abiding citizens arm themselves. This is why.
There is the option of charging the adults in this case in Federal Court.

There is a popular saying among cops when regarding criminals or even innocent people that simply do not properly kiss a cops arse or lick boots to satisfaction, and ends up hurt or killed. The saying goes. “Play stupid games. Win stupid prizes.”
So OnStar notified the police but the guy was still held in the abandoned building. Did he get his car back?
Wow, sorry about the typos. My point is that if these men are in fact the men who hijacked the victim lets drop the sympathetic “high school student” tag and go with criminal suspects.
4 high school students? Excuse me but if in fact these are the men who carjack the victim I thin we should simply die tidy them as criminal suspect and leave the “high school student” tag for high school pranks instead of full blown car jackings..
