Dartmouth Students Charge That Activists Hurled Racist Epithets And Abuses White Students At Library

Screen Shot 2015-11-17 at 7.40.54 AMThere was a controversial protest at Dartmouth this week that led to allegations in a conservative newspaper that racial epithets were directed at white students. The video below shows protesters disrupting students studying in the library and one telling students to recite “black lives matter.” The protest reportedly occurred at the Baker-Berry Library on the university’s campus in Hanover, New Hampshire.

The conservative Dartmouth Review alleges that students epithets like “F**k you, you filthy white f**ks!” “F**k you and your comfort!” “F**k you, you racist shits!” Those words are not heard on the videotape below. The newspaper also says that students were pushed and shoved by protesters.

One person claiming to be among the protesters went to Facebook to say “We raised hell, we caused discomfort, and we made our voices heard throughout this campus in the name of standing up for our brothers and sisters across the country who are staring terrorism and assault directly in the face.”

Additional information may be read HERE.

The question is, if such racial epithets were made and physical abuse occurred, whether the university will take action. Putting aside the interruption of students in the library, which is itself a problem, such racial epithets (if they occurred) would not be tolerated if they referenced minority students. If the newspaper is lying, that is also a matter for proper action from the university. Either way, it would seem that the incident or the report should be generating more attention from the university than has been reported. Indeed, even if there is no evidence of some of the racial epithets cited by the student editors, there remains disturbing and threatening elements in the videotape below.

  1. “The freedom of religion and speech are personal religions granted to the individuals in society, protected by that society, and the responsibility of that society, not the individual.”

    isaac,
Did these freedoms not exist prior to entering into civil society? Using your reasoning, the freedom of religion and speech, the right to life, liberty and property do not exist unless society grants them and deems them worthwhile to protect. In reality, these freedoms exist, these rights exist despite the popular sentiments of a society ignorant of their origins. Our government does not exist to grant rights or freedoms. Their purpose is to secure in civil society that which was insecure outside of it. PERIOD. And when our government no longer is willing or able to honor that commitment, it is the right of the people “to alter or to abolish it.”

  2. Black Lives Do Matter! All Lives Matter. Some schools are dumber than others. Don’t yell Fire in a crowded theatre and for dogs’ sake don’t disturb me in the library with horse itShay.

  3. How telling that the barbarians–yeah, I said BARBARIANS–chose, of all places, the library, to disrupt and intimidate students who were merely sitting, quietly, attempting to study and complete their work. I have no doubt that the vast majority of the participants and perpetrators are the recipients of massive state and private funding, where they are attending the school on a free ride due to their minority status. Yeah, I just said. What I wouldn’t give to view the SAT scores and high school grades of these marching and hooting barbarians. Most, if not all, wouldn’t be there if admittance was based upon scholastic abilities, alone. I see an eerie and close connection between these animals and the subhumans who decided to shoot and murder innocents in Paris. Both lash out at anyone or anything in their respective paths because they both believe that others need to suffer. It doesn’t matter whether those made to suffer have anything to do with the alleged grievances–innocents need to suffer because their demented minds see all others as perpetrators of some insidious evil. No, these students didn’t kill anyone, but the same mentality, which allows the terrorists to attack anyone at any time, is in play here. No place is safe. No person is shielded. Everyone is game. Want to argue that no one was killed? Fine. My response? No, not yet. It’s not far off.

  4. The left has always loved fascism.

It’s 1968 all over again. And now the school administration were the ones who protested back then.

Time to close the universities. They serve no purpose, and can’t control their students.

  5. It really doesn’t matter JT if the paper lied. We should just be happy that people are now having the discussion, correct?

  6. Dear #blacklivesmatter,

Please please please keep this up. Nothing will discredit your nonsense faster than what was on display in that video.

    Thanks!

You just hit the nail on the head. Free speech comes with the responsible use of it. The responsible use of it is interpreted by the society that grants that and other freedoms. That is why one person’s free speech may be the society’s fear of incitement to riot, education to deviate, etc. Freedom of speech comes with qualifications that pertain to time, place, and the particular moment. Religious schools in the US have the freedoms granted by the constitution but should those freedoms result in students that are further apart from society, handicapped in the education they are supposed to receive due to the time dedicated to the religious doctrine, etc? The freedom of religion and speech are personal religions granted to the individuals in society, protected by that society, and the responsibility of that society, not the individual. A society with each individual interpreting everything from their own perspective uniquely results in what is seen in this video, a small group of demonstrators infringing on the rights of others. This is not the freedom of speech but the taking away of freedoms of others. Blind adherence to doctrines spells the doom of those very doctrines.

Our society is a complex place and often enough one freedom overrides another.

  8. Obama will be pleased. His groups have been advocating this since he took office. His group has trained over 10,000 leftist activists who are now taking over college and university campuses. Obama has never been anything but a community activist and now he has trained more. What do you expect? If you voted for him, this is the result of what you voted for.

  9. issac,
Free speech comes with the responsible use of it. Do you believe the speech they have been alleged to have used is protected speech? Do the school rules for conduct inside the library trump this exercise of free speech?

  10. Of all the places to protest, a Dart-mouth Library. I hope the students who were trying to study for exams or do research reports, got passing grades.
