The Face Of Evil: Tashfeen Malik Finally Shown In Photo

ht_tashfeen_malik_float_jc_151204_12x5_1600We finally have a face to go with the name of a murderer who would abandon her own baby and slaughter people, including some who had thrown her baby shower. It now appears that San Bernardino shooter Tashfeen Malik pledged allegiance to ISIS and left her baby in pursuit of paradise in return for her massacre of her husband’s co-workers. Malik and her husband, Syed Rizwan Farook, not only left their baby and family to face the aftermath of their despicable crime but killed people who had supported them both at and outside of work.

As we noted earlier today, it appear that Malik may have played a critical role in radicalizing her husband. She was born in Pakistan but moved to Saudi Arabia 25 years ago at the age of four. She traveled back and forth between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia — two hotbeds of Islamic extremism. She went to college in Pakistan at Bahuddin Zakri University in Multan where she was known as a top student.

UnknownWhat is clear is that she and her husband Farook embraced extreme Islamic views and turned their house into an IED workshop. Malik came to the U.S. on what a “fiancé” visa, which allows an American fiancé to petition for his or her partner’s temporary entry before marriage. She then joined her husband later in a bloodbath at his workplace. There appears to be few pictures of Malik. What is clear is that her daughter will eventually be told of how her parents chose their pursuit of paradise over her well-being.

The question now is what to do with the child. Police say that the apartment was full of weapons and pipe bombs while his mother lived there with their baby. It is hard to conclude that the grandmother is an appropriate custodian until we can determine her level of knowledge not only of the specific attack but the general planning for violent jihad.

What do you think?

  1. And as to our Prez, those who voted for him didn’t take his Muslim background seriously. They laughed it off. And still do. And no, I don’t believe he is a Muslim. I think he is agnostic. But there is no denying the fact that his father was a Kenyan Muslim, that the step-father who raised him in Indonesia was a Muslim, that he attended a Muslim school in Indonesia where his registration records listed him as a Muslim, that the woman he describes as his “favorite aunt,” (father’s sister) who is currently living in Boston is a Muslim, and that his mother, a white woman born in Kansas married twice, and both times to Muslim men. What are the odds of that? So let me repeat, I’m not some nut who thinks Obama is a Muslim plant, but I do accept that which is a matter of record and that which Obama himself writes about, that he was raised by and educated with Muslims and does not see them as “the other.” He is comfortable with them and sympathetic to them. So don’t expect him to be something that he isn’t. He will push for Syrian resettlement in the U.S. and oppose any efforts to restrict Muslim immigration. Personally, I’m uncomfortable with it, but that’s the way it’s going to be until a new president is elected.

  2. Bam bam: To be fair, the question posed by JT was ‘what should be done with the baby?’ So we all weighed in on that. But I certainly do agree with you that the families of the victims should be of greater concern. One man left six young children. The loss of their father will effect them for the rest of their lives. All of these employees had family and friends who will never be the same. And I know from my own family experience, that when one loses a parent at a young age, the impact, both emotionally and financially, is often multi-generational. And let us not forget the wounded, those still in the hospital and those with physical and emotional scars that are never going away.

  3. And that “I’m all about the victims” screed from the mole obsessed woman is her first mention of the victims in this thread! bam’s first comments were obsessing on the name of the female terrorist and weird musings about whether she was really a woman?? And, then the mole obsession, and then the hate toward me. I get it. You’re angry. I’m not your problem. Get some help w/ the anger. It is consuming you.

  4. I was an investigator for the prosecuting attorneys office in KC. I spent every day working w/ the victims of murder, rape, robbery. It tore my heart. It wounded my freakin’ soul.!! I have sat for hours w/ the family of murder victims, w/ rape victims. I have cried w/ them. There are a couple I still have contact w/ over 30 years later! So, sell your ignorance, anger and hate elsewhere, bam.

Olly will have to excuse me again for speaking about my life experience. But, if an angry, obsessed, ignorant person is going to accuse me of being uncaring of crime victims I think it’s relevant. I had an exchange w/ bam about child safety a while back. I saw some of the ignorance fueled rage then. But, it’s out of control. I wish people would focus their anger on our clueless Prez. The 2 terrorists are dead. WTF else do you want in that regard? I know, a pound of flesh. Well, take it from the leaders who are failing us!

  5. Funny how so much concern, angst and hand wringing is being exhibited regarding the future placement of this baby and my very deliberate choice to ignore that very side and irrelevant issue is somehow circumspect. Obviously, the authorities will place this child with the proper individuals. Period. I’m not losing any sleep worrying about that. If only one fraction–one fraction–of the concern exhibited for the placement of this child was in evidence for the victims of this heinous and barbaric crime. If only. You’ll have to pardon my gall for claiming that 99 percent of my sympathies, concern, heartbreak and prayers rest with the victims of this crime–and with the victims of all such terror-related crimes around the world. The dead victims, gunned down by terrorists. The families of those dead and wounded victims. The true victims. My first thoughts do not extend to the children of the savages who have been left behind when their parents go on murderous rampages, leaving them behind and abandoned. Yes, they are victims, as well. They–the children of these savages–will, luckily, live to see another day. They will be cared for, provided for and loved–someone will step up to the plate to make that happen. The same can’t be said for the dead victims. They won’t live to see another day. Their children, parents and friends will not have the opportunity to have them in their lives. It’s interesting to see where the emphasis, by certain individuals, is placed. Nary a word about those mowed down, in cold blood and their families. Quite, quite telling.

  6. You all do realize the FBI interviewed this entire family? They grilled grandma for 7 hours. You do not think they will be conned by this sister, do you?

    1. Nick – right now I do not have a great deal of faith in the FBI. My little sister could con them.

  7. The face of evil….which is the title of this post and the topic to address, is not always immediately apparent and can often be seductively attractive. That is how evil recruits and victimizes. Think Ted Bundy.

The ultimate actions of the person are what will reveal the “face of evil”. These two people are evil. They abandoned their child and put death and destruction over life.

The question is, what about the rest of the family? Are they also involved? Did they aid and abet the evil doers? Did they stand idly by and let them proceed or were they, the rest of the family and friends, just oblivious? Are they putting on an attractive front to disguise the underlying evil. No one wants to believe that such people and such evil exists, BUT it does and to wish it away is foolish and it is dangerous.

The fact that there is an innocent child involved, and indeed, what type of mother, what kind of parents would abandon their child so they can kill innocent people in the name of this evil cult. What shall we do with the child?

Turn the baby over to the family who may be hiding behind the pretty masks that hide the evil and let them indoctrinate yet another mind into the death cult of ISIS? Throw the baby back to the wolves?

Until we know who these people are and what their involvement is, the abundance of caution would be to place the baby with a neutral foster home.

  8. Let’s try and find some agreement. I just saw AG Lynch say we need to not stereotype Muslims, but then to report any suspicions. A neighbor of these terrorists states he was intimidated against reporting the suspicions he had @ this house because of PC. Our President and his lackeys are feckless, and their incompetence and PC are making us less safe. Immediately after Paris, Hollande was a leader. We have a professor who loves to lecture us in a condescending manner. Look for a classic example of that tonight @ 8p Eastern.

  9. Regarding paternity. I don’t know where that suspicion emanates. Your stating that seems like a red herring. But, if it is an issue, DNA can easily determine paternity. Hopefully the coroner keeps a DNA sample of the male killer.

  10. Nick – some people work on intuition and some do not. Men are more likely than women to make intuitive judgments. Those that do and those that don’t drive each other crazy.

  11. I was pointing out Karen and DBQ are mothers. In order to be a mother, one must be female. Bam did not state, nor did she express implicitly, much if any empathy toward the child. All I got was vitriol from bam. That vitriol was toward the family, and then toward me for having the temerity to not be judge, jury and executioner of the entire family. I have stated here often, an investigator sometimes learns more from what people DON’T say, than by what they do say.

I gave my background in this instance primarily because bam accused me of being “conned.” That was in her 11:34a comment yesterday. I think any reasonable person would admit I am one of the least likely people to be “conned” based on my qualifications. People bring their professional and life experiences to this forum. If someone like DBQ speaks on a financial topic, I give her much more weight because that’s her biz. No, this is not a court of law. But, if someone is going to accuse me of being “conned” I will state my qualifications as rebuttal. I’m sure you would do the same. Bam has obsessed on the name of the wife, the mole on her nose, and exhibited illogical thought in this thread. I have attempted to introduce logic, combined w/ my professional experience. I am the reasonable person here. I know I rub you, and others the wrong way sometimes. C’est la vie.

  12. Nick,
This is a blog not a court of law. You do not need to regurgitate your qualifications every time you contribute to a thread. What is this obsession you have with the gender of those who post? For instance, agreeing with Karen and DBQ is hardly an accomplishment. Arguing against them however would be noteworthy as they usually provide very reasonable posts. Maybe Bam Bam does not feel the need to state the obvious, that this innocent 6 month old baby needs the proper placement. For all we know that baby may not be this fathers. If that were the case then the only “blood” connection exists in SA or Pakistan. Then what?

  13. I’m quite calm, bam. You have either not read my comments w/ a clear head, or have poor reading skills. I surmise a combo. People pay me good money to evaluate and assess people. Smart people, powerful people, wealthy people, are my clients. My concerns are for the baby and what’s best for her. You have expressed little, if any, concerns for this 6 month old baby, a victim of this terrorist couple. All you have expressed is free floating hatred for this terrorists family. There will be a court hearing, probably this week. The court will consult w/ the FBI vis a vis their evaluation of the sister. If the FBI says she was not aware of her brother’s evil actions, and is not a hater like he, then the child will be placed w/ a loving aunt, who has 2 young children herself. If the FBI says we think she’s bad, we caught her lying, we think she knew what was going on, then the court won’t place the child w/ her. I’m guessing the assessment by the FBI will be the former. But, I don’t know that and NOWHERE have I said I did. I gave my assessment based on a TV interview and stated SEVERAL times it was not conclusive.

In an albeit quixotic effort to get you to the logical and off the emotional hate train, allow me to point out comments I made yesterday.

11:58a: “Like all cases involving children, what is in THE BEST INTERESTS OF THE CHILD should be paramount. If this family is bad, then this child should not be placed w/ them.” I already stated grandma should not be allowed to have this kid. The focus is on the older sister already w/ 2 young kids.

12:18p: “I’m simply not willing to rule them[family] out.”

3:40p: “But, I’m patient enough to wait a week or two to reserve judgment that will affect the life of an INNOCENT child.”

I have discussed, in this thread, this issue w/ 2 good women, Karen and DBQ. They’re both mothers and we are all on the same page. DBQ wants the child in a foster home until “we can sort this all out.” I told DBQ “we are in total agreement.” Karen and I discussed the fact the sister needs to be vetted and we agreed what is in the best interests of the child should be done. Two mothers who have expressed a primary concern for the child. I don’t see anything maternal in your screeds. That is one of the reasons I pray for you.

I not only used my professional experience, I opened up about my family to show that there are all types of families. I shared I am estranged from my brother. I did not share the reason. You don’t know the reason. But, because you are so hate filled, you threw it in my face. I guess you must have a perfect family, something I know does not exist.

Finally, I know a lot about terrorism, more than our feckless President. ISIS is radicalizing people over the internet and in just months and weeks. They need no local contact. I tend to think there may have been some local assistance, but time will tell on that. They needed cash for all their arms. But again, the wife came from a wealthy, radical, family and they may have been the funding source. I’m going to throw out something that might make your head explode. The wives family may try and get custody of their grandchild. Now, there I would say no freakin’ way. They are known radicals and live in another culture in Saudi Arabia and Pakistan. This innocent baby should remain in California.

  14. Quite a crowd you’ve assembled here, JT. Better calm them all down – and get a few committed – or you can kiss any idea of a federal appointment goodbye.

  15. The FBI executed a search warrant at the residence. When finished, they provided a receipt for everything taken (computers, etc.). At that point, the residence was returned to the control of the legal owner, because the renters were dead. Although since Grandma lived there, she could have exercised control over the property, and her lawyers should have so advised her. In any event, Grandma didn’t assert her rights and the landlord let in not only the press, but also allowed the neighbors to wander through the place. A neighbor woman with her dog was seen walking through the house checking everything out. Incredible! It was no longer a crime scene, but it was still a private residence. As for the attorney, we don’t know yet that the family instructed him to deny the obvious guilt of Farook and his wife. The attorney came across as an inarticulate, inexperienced guy who was in over his head and didn’t really have a clue on how to deal with the situation.

    1. TinEar – who would you suggest would not be in over their head on a case like this. 😉

  16. Nick, I know that you no longer have Annie to bat around and that you are, once again, seeking a target to abuse. Pity. A troubling aspect of your disjointed personality which you should treat. I can assure you that I am not Annie’s replacement and will respond to your crazy off-the-wall remarks. Trust me, you are out of your league, but have at it. My comments are my beliefs and I will answer every single one of your outlandish, self-aggrandizing claims with honesty. You, Nick, can’t handle that. I can now fully understand why you are estranged from various members of your family. That’s no fluke. I am far from clueless and even farther from unhinged. Your asinine comments are you undoing ad they are quite revealing. You appear to be a legend in your own mind. Your past work, dealing with criminals, is useless as it relates to terrorists and how they operate. Terrorists, as most experts conclude, do not exist or operate in a vacuum. They are usually fostered, encouraged and supported by those that surround them. Get a clue and simmer down.
