One concept that local producers seem to miss when dealing with Chinese manufacturers is Quality Assurance, something that often must be addressed at higher levels and greater frequency than what is customary in the United States. The allure of fast turnaround and cheap production costs often blinds companies to underlying problems. Examples include asbestos in crayons, cadmium in toys, toxic dog treats, and even the bizarre examples such as a shaved dog substituted for a lion.
KING5 News reports of a local father who purchased from Amazon a Wolvol Air Combat Ace F-16 toy fighter jet. Unexpectedly, instead of jet sounds, the toy played Islamic prayers.
Nadeem Israr, President of the Islamic Society of Whatcom County, explained: “This is a prayer you’re supposed to say when you’re performing Hajj.”
I would expect such an event to be troubling for those of the Muslim religion as the Hajj is one of the highest forms of devotion and is to be practiced at least once in the lifetime of the faithful, if they are able.
From a quality control perspective I have difficulty accepting the notion of this being an unintentional act by an employee at the Chinese factory. The toy does not sound remotely like a jet and even if one does not understand the Arabic language spoken, lacking many of the phonetics within the various dialects of the Chinese Language, it is obvious this is a human voice. Moreover, it is probable the sound file loaded into the toy came from a download from the internet. I doubt a mistake was made between Jet and Hajj via file name. If this came from a particular batch of the toys, especially if it was not the first batch produced, it would be strong evidence of employee tampering.

The Wolvol company website did not feature this jet when I reviewed the site.
Many companies are better served to have QA personnel in China on the production line or hire reputable QA providers in the country to review manufacturing and perform random tests of the product. It doesn’t pay to simply make an order that is directly shipped to a reseller such as Amazon, which Wolvol’s website which shows a direct link to Amazon for ordering of each of their toys. I believe this might have been the cause of a breakdown in the Quality Assurance chain.

ISIS Drone.
Sue Amazon. Then settle out of court by swapping F-16 toy and get this toy robot. Make that 2. 1 for the home and 1 for the office. Customer satisfaction guaranteed.
Quality Control is a cultural anomalie in China. If you can recall the same was true w Japan in the 60’s. They eventually got it. Korea got it when they started venturing out of Asia w their products. China has a much longer learning curve. You should hear Nigerians talk about air conditioning units supplied by China.
A manufacturer has to ride QC herd 24-7-365 to assure compliance.

So, you know, you bought one? Rubber sheets and a bottle of Mazola?
Sharif don’t like it, rock the casbah, rock the casbah
issacbasonkavichi: So, what is the rest of the story? And then … And THEN. At least it is water soluable!
Reminds me of a Super Soaker water gun made in the ‘Valley’, LA in the 70’s; dispensed KY Jelly instead of water.
Someone at the bar in New Orleans this morning read this article on the computer and then sang this song. It is to the tune of The Jets:
You’re a Jet, You’re a Jet!
Your’e a Jet all the way!
From your first cigarette to you last dying day!
You go to the Mosque and wear a hajab.
You speak abracadabra and pee on a log.
etc
Justice Holmes: What is the solution at this point? Are Americans even capable anymore of making our own steel, ships, rocket engines, digital equipment, computers or toys?
This is what happens when a country, the US, becomes a virtual colony of another, China. We don’t make our own steel, our own ships, our own rocket engines (we get those frim Russia) our own digital equipment or computers or our own toys. We send our chickens to be processed in China. This may seem trivial but it’s a symptom of a much bigger problem.
We have decimated our industrial base. We rely on other countries to build some of our most sensitive machines and products. We are not self sufficient. We have learned nothing. What we did know we have forgotten.

collector’s item!
I wouldn’t really care what noise the toy makes. So long as the kid plays with it and it keeps him (or her) from bugging me for a few hours, it has served its purpose.
Here is more on pharmaceutical companies exporting jobs to India and China. As the cost of doing business increases, and those short patent windows expire, there has been an exodus from the US:
http://www.pharmamanufacturing.com/articles/2013/018/
The scandal involving Turing has sent shockwaves through Pharma. Now many in the industry are expecting even more regulation down the pipeline because of the acts of an alleged criminal at the helm. There have been waves of layoffs for years in the industry, and this is just the latest cost cutting measure. If you have 5 to 7 years to make a profit, pay for all the many failures before you get a drug to market, and deal with higher taxes, higher cost of labor, they follow the trail blazed by most big companies and export as much labor as possible. The hemorrhaging of domestic jobs is troubling, especially as they are going to countries with a poor reputation for working conditions and pollution.
It seems impossible for it to have been an accident. More like a prank.
But here is more sobering news. The trend in pharmaceutical companies chasing the bottom line is to outsource QC, and even manufacturing, to contract labs overseas, including China.
Expect more great things.
Does the plane come with its own hijackers, who threaten to blow up the aircraft while they behead and/or convert infidels, or are those extras which are reserved for the more expensive version?
Destroy that toy. Do it completely. How could such a toy be in any store? People need to be seen smashing that toy. Islamic prayer is false satanic prayer. Jesus did not talk or sound like that. The Lord prayer is not like Islamic prayer at all. I want to see Muslims destroying that toy.
Congress should pass a law…..
/sarc off
people get killed at Hajj. It should be banned.
This is how it starts…indoctrinating your children…next thing you know, they are bugging you to take them to Hajj 🙂
