Given the Wall Street poll showing that one-third of Sanders voters are not willing to vote for Hillary Clinton in the general, the outburst by Clinton over the “lies of Sanders” is not going to improve those numbers. While Clinton dismissed the young person as a Sanders supporter, she is not. She is an uncommitted Greenpeace volunteer. Various media sites have challenged Clinton’s denial of receiving money from the fossil fuel industry and Sanders went on television to repeat the basic allegation. They say that she has received a great deal of money from people in the industry and her PAC has continued to take such money. They argue that she is again making a technical defense (direct contributions from companies to the campaign are not at issue because such donations would be illegal). At issue is the fact that Clinton has refused to sign the pledge of Sanders not to take fossil fuel money. Like the recent Clinton campaign demand that Sanders change “his tone,” this videotape will only likely cement the opposition of many Sanders supporters and prompt them to vote in the fall for Green Party candidate Jill Stein or other candidates. Ironically, Clinton once attacked President Obama on this very point: for taking money from individuals in the industry.
Clinton blew up at Eva Resnick-Day when she asked why she would not sign the same pledge as Martin O’Malley and Bernie Sanders to turn down such money. Clinton responded with “I do not have — I have money from people who work for fossil fuel companies. I am so sick — I am so sick of the Sanders campaign lying about me. I’m sick of it.”
Resnick-Day posted this statement and noted that Greenpeace has been running a national campaign to get Clinton to commit to the pledge that Sanders signed “immediately.” The Sanders campaign also issued this statement challenging the truth of Clinton’s denial.
According to records compiled by the Center for Responsive Politics, the Clinton 2016 campaign has received about $160,000 to date from oil and gas company employees. Clinton is third on the list of those who have taken such money — Republicans Ted Cruz and Jeb Bush top the list with $499,000 and $273,000, respectively.
Greenpeace says that Clinton has received over $1 million from lobbyists and bundlers connected to the fossil fuel industry and that her Super PAC has received over $3 million from donors in the industry.
Notably, it would be illegal for the campaign to accept any direct contributions from any corporation, so that was never the issue. The question is money from people in the industry.
One way to silence critics over her acceptance of industry money would, of course, be to release the transcripts of her speeches, particularly those on Wall Street. Clinton has insisted that she said nothing that would bother voters but has steadfastly refused to allow voters to read her comments to these powerful groups.
Here is the exchange with Eva Resnick-Day:
Clinton is nothing if not consistent:
“One way to silence critics over her acceptance of industry money would, of course, be to release the transcripts of her speeches, particularly those on Wall Street. Clinton has insisted that she said nothing that would bother voters but has steadfastly refused to allow voters to read her comments to these powerful groups.”
Clinton also steadfastly denied that she sent or received classified information on her email, and then wiped her server clean. When the data was recovered, it was discovered that there were quite a few classified emails contained, even information that was born classified. It also came out that she directed her staff to remove the classified header of documents to send over unsecured fax.
Deny, deny, deny. It’s worked for her before – Watergate, Travelgate, numerous allegations of sexual misconduct, including assault, by Bill Clinton and her own efforts to intimidate and silence his victims, Benghazi. Nothing ever sticks to her. The law does not apply, nor do consequences for her actions. i firmly believe that regardless of what the FBI find, she will not be held accountable for either her criminal mishandling of classified information, or for allegedly selling favors as SOS.
She is the Teflon Queen, and her fans will persist in voting for her while ironically criticizing special interests and lawlessness in DC.
Hillary gets sooo curt and flustered when young people challenge her script that it makes one wonder how cool she would stay under the far more serious and consequential pressure (the “heat” as Truman called it) of the presidency. The president becomes the target of just about every charge and slight imaginable, be it deserved or otherwise.
“There’s a special place in hell” for all you women not supporting Lady Macbeth.
I watched Hillary say she “ was so sick”

The real question is how much petroleum industry money went to the Clinton Foundation.
The REAL issue — and, of course, the REAL issues aren’t discussed — is that the Clinton Foundation has taken money from the kings of Saudi Arabia and Morocco and Oman and Yemen. In short, Clinton is in bed with the Islamoterrorists and their financiers.
Bingeaux, amigo 🙂 [that’s a wry smile, btw]
How’djya think the Clinton’s went from po’ folks in Arkansas to the Romney neighborhood, tout de suite?
90’s redux. This is the face of paranoia.
50 shades of Socialsim and they all end up in crony capitalist corruption.
Hillary knows the game, and provides the usual obfuscatory lies.
Sanders either:
1. Is blithely unaware of the socialist game, and is a naive true believer,
or
2. He is far more adept at lying than Hillary, and knows the game but also knows the public generally does not. Hence he can decry as candidate what he will enforce as President.
Either way, we’re gonna get socialism good and hard.
If she is touchy about Sanders she is going to go nuts if Trump is the candidate.
My wife is a coal miner’s daughter. I think it is ok to mine coal. The electric utility burns coal to provide my electric. I have a solar panel so I am not a fossil myself. Which brings me to the real fossil topic of the day. Bernie may be too old. Raygun was too old and got senile. Hillary may be too old. Biden may be too old. Trump is too rump. Rubio is too young. Kasich is about right age wise but he is in dark ages re abortion. So all in all I will chose the right fossil on the table.
Respected Mr. Fudd – I was age 6 in Pittsburgh PA the afternoon FDR died. Since the it’s been a bipartisan retreat from FDR’s democratic socialism to……well, what the USA has today. David Talbot’s “THE DEVIL’S CHESSBOARD – ALLEN DULLES AND THE RISE OF AMERICA’S SECRET GOVERNMENT” is an excellent map of that Long March backwards.
I deliberately chose as neutral a reviewer as possible for The Devil’s Chessboard and still came up with this: https://www.kirkusreviews.com/book-revi … hessboard/. The book’s readers will be way off-track if they conclude ALLEN DULLES was the “source” of all USA woes. He’s not!
Author Talbot was bright enough to tell Dulles’ story as a cautionary tale of the MANY WAYS FDR’s “democratic socialism” was repealed. This wasn’t done by a few rich white guys meeting in Davos Switzerland. ’twas bipartisan and both major parties must share responsibility for permitting the Long-March-To-Citizens-United and crony capitalism. What we have today makes the 19th-century’s Gilded Age seem like the cartoon before the main feature [though first-run film theaters long ago dispensed with cartoons.]
To attempt an answer to an excellent question: Crowd-Behavior is easy to arouse as Trump and George Wallace and Father Coughlin demonstrate. Once aroused, where it goes is anyone’s guess. Now back to foo’ball :towel:
Nah, bro Olly – Hillo ISN’T “the personification of evil” – though I’m fairly sure she’d like to be the Personification-of-……….something :). Hell for her might be an eternity of “Baking Cookies.” But I’ve never taken long-distance-psychologizing all that seriously
Cheers an’ ‘at.
One should expect absolute lies to come flowing from this personification of evil the moment her lips part. How anyone would ever believe anything she has to say is truthful is remarkable.
I have some sympathy for her losing her cool. She’s under a great deal of stress and I’m really amazed at how well she has handled herself to date. Even so, she’s taking money from people who will expect her to deliver. As FLOTUS she convince her husband to veto the horrible bankruptcy bill. Then, as senator, she voted for it, because “they [the finance industry] were her [NYS] constituents” . So what about the millions of regular folks in the state? Guess they didn’t have enough money to get her attention. Go, Bernie.
“this videotape will only likely cement the opposition of many Sanders supporters and prompt them to vote in the fall for Green Party candidate Jill Stein or other candidates.”
Why the hell would they want to do that? Oh, that’s right, you’re on board with the Hillary can’t lose propaganda machine.
You are pathetic!
Horace – nicely put
Hillary is so into lying that she can’t see the truth. Sanders has been very careful and very civil while Clinton just makes it up as she goes along. She is a corporatist so perhaps she sees donations from big oil as gifts from family. Go Bernie!
The heat is on and her reaction is indicative of the stepped up smear campaign her organization is now engaged in against Sanders. The Clintonistas never seem to learn that those tactics backfire on them every single time. Sanders’ campaign must be a lot closer and have more momentum in Clinton’s private polling than in any of the public polls. That explains her losing it like this. She resents that she has to even run for this office instead of being coronated. She is one of the weakest, most flawed candidates that has ever had a chance at winning the nomination. If she hadn’t had the tens of millions she has received from Wall Street and other corrupt special interest money fueling her campaign she would have been out of the race by now. Go Bernie!
Wouldn’t Saudi Arabia, Saudi Aramco and the like all be considered part of the oil/fossil-fuel industry? I think their support alone should be a sign of where her priorities lay…
I want to see her expression if she’s indicted. Of course Obacala’s administration won’t.
When Hillary’s mask slips, we often get to see the real her.
Sour old bag.
